As a manager, you deal daily with expectations, behaviour and conversations that don't run smoothly by themselves. In this classroom course you build a solid foundation under your role. You work on communication, managing for results and conversations with impact.
In this classroom course you work on the foundations of your role as a manager. You gain insight into your own way of directing others and learn how to take up your position, including in situations where that does not come naturally.
You will work on communication, expressing expectations and making clear agreements. You will also practise giving feedback, holding difficult conversations and steering on behaviour and results without putting the relationship with your staff under pressure.
You will also look at motivating, delegating and encouraging ownership within your team. You work with situations from your own practice and receive personal feedback in a small group of no more than ten participants. Afterwards you go home with concrete tools and a personal action plan that suits you and your team.
Would you like to take things further? You can combine this course with the Situational Leadership advanced module, with the Coaching Leadership advanced module, or take the complete package.
After this course:
This course is intended for new managers, team leaders and professionals who manage others and want to strengthen their foundation. Whether you have just taken that step or have been managing for some time and are looking for more to hold on to: you are welcome. No specific prior knowledge is required.
You start with an intake interview in which you set your own learning objectives. The course is taught in a small group of no more than 10 participants, so there is plenty of room for interaction and personal attention.
We work in a practical, experience-based way. You practise with situations from your own work, receive feedback from the trainer and your fellow participants, and get to work with concrete tools you can apply immediately. At the end of the course you go home with new insights and a personal action plan.
No specific prior knowledge is required. Motivation and the wish to develop yourself as a manager are enough to take part. Whether you are just starting out or already have experience, you can join straight away.
This course forms the foundation of the leadership programme. Would you like to go deeper? Combine it with the Situational Leadership advanced day, with Coaching Leadership, or take the complete package in one go.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
When would you like to start?
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. You can also choose the training format that suits you best: a classroom course, a tailor-made course at your own office, an online course or an e-learning. Personal attention and a pleasant atmosphere. Whether you take a course with us, at your office or on your own PC, we make sure you feel at home enough to push your boundaries.
New opportunities arise when you get moving. Stay sharp. Keep taking new steps. We encourage you to take the plunge and really go for it.
Discover something new. Build on your strengths. And choose your own path. We help you grow with training courses and learning formats that genuinely suit you.
We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

“The content was very good and met my expectations. The level of professionalism was high and the trainer also adapted the course to our wishes. The pace of the lessons, breaks and so on were decided in consultation with the participants. The trainer is very experienced and has an excellent command of the material. She tailored the programme entirely to where we were. For every topic we wanted to cover, she had the theory ready straight away. She had us practise a great deal, which is very good. That is how you learn!”
I. Borghans, Inspectie voor de Gezondheidszorg (IGZ) - Coaching Leadership
"Managing volunteers is an interesting course in which 'volunteers' as a concept does not necessarily come up. That doesn't matter, because the skills learned are far more broadly applicable than just to volunteers. The course is mainly about communication and interaction with people. The course provided a great deal of insight into holding good conversations, giving feedback and not avoiding difficult conversations."
- Managing Volunteers
“The course matched my needs well. By linking theory to enjoyable exercises you really gain knowledge of the subject. The trainer had an open attitude and dealt immediately with the questions that came up in the group.”
S. van Poorten, Waterschap Rijn en IJssel- Coaching Leadership

I found the trainer professional and pleasant to deal with.”

"It was pleasant to attend the course; the material was conveyed to the participants in a sound and realistic way."
- Managing Volunteers
“During this course, theory and practical examples alternated nicely! The theory discussed reinforced my conviction as to why you can act in a particular way in certain situations. I thought the trainer came across as very professional. You can tell she really knows what she is talking about and that she was very good at responding to what we needed at that moment. Sometimes, for example, we discussed a particular situation that had occurred at work: she would then immediately come up with practical tools we could use next time we found ourselves in such a situation. She was also good at connecting the theory to practice. The practical examples made the theory much clearer to me.”
A. van Elten, P-services HR Group - Coaching Leadership
"An enjoyable, interactive course that makes you think. The course also helps you form a better picture of the volunteers you have to manage. A good kick-off session for getting everyone in your organisation who works with volunteers on the same page and making use of each other's qualities"

“I found the Leading Change and Reorganisations course instructive. The trainer phoned every participant before the course and asked which topics were important to them. She shaped the course around these topics, among other things. This made the course more targeted. In addition, there were four of us in total, so our learning objectives were covered intensively. Definitely a good course!”
