Career coaching: clarity about your next step. In five personal sessions you work with an experienced coach on your motivations, choices and direction. You gain control, focus and the confidence to consciously steer towards work that suits you.

Description

In this coaching programme you reflect on who you are, what drives you and which direction suits you in your work. Together with an experienced career coach, you work towards clarity about your qualities, what gives you energy and the choices that are right for you.

The programme starts with a no-obligation intake. After that you follow five sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, online or on location. You work with practical examples, reflection questions, exercises and, where appropriate, tools or tests. You set the pace; the coach provides direction, support and, now and then, a mirror.

The programme is entirely tailor-made and matches your situation, experience and stage of life. Extending or going into more depth is possible. The coaching is provided in Dutch as standard and can also take place in English on request.

Topics

  • Mapping out your motivations, talents and sources of energy
  • Exploring what you are missing or looking for in your work
  • Exploring suitable career directions
  • Developing focus and direction for your next step
  • Dealing with doubts and strengthening your self-confidence
  • Making conscious choices and taking charge of your career
  • Reflection exercises, practical examples and, where useful, tools or tests
  • A concrete action plan for your next steps

Result

After five sessions of career coaching you know what you do and no longer want in your work. You make more conscious choices and are less led by doubt or the expectations of others. You know which direction suits you and how to get there.

You feel calmer, more energetic and more in control of your situation. You dare to steer towards what matters to you, and you notice that you approach conversations and choices with more confidence. That creates space, at work and beyond.

Target audience

Career coaching is intended for anyone who wants to reflect more consciously on work, direction or development. You may recognise yourself in one of these situations:

  • You are unsure whether your current job still suits you.
  • You are stuck in your work or returning after illness or a major change.
  • You are missing enjoyment in your work or looking for more meaning in what you do.
  • You want to look beyond your CV and discover who you are and what you need.

You do not need to have a specific question. Curiosity or a need for an overview is a perfectly good starting point.

Teaching method

Career coaching is tailor-made. You start with a no-obligation intake in which you explain what you are struggling with or what you are curious about. After that you work with a dedicated coach in sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, online or on location.

During the sessions you work with practical examples, reflection questions and exercises. Where useful, your coach will also use tools or tests. You set the pace. The coach provides direction, support and, now and then, a mirror.

A programme consists of five sessions as standard. Going deeper or extending is always possible.

Prior knowledge

You do not need any specific prior knowledge to start with career coaching. An open attitude and a willingness to look at yourself are enough. Whether you are just beginning to think about your career or have been wrestling with questions for some time: you are welcome.

Apply it directly in your work

Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.

    Frequently asked questions

Career coaching is a personal guidance programme in which you gain clarity, together with an experienced coach, about your motivations, talents and next step in your work. You choose it if you have doubts about your current job, are missing job satisfaction, feel stuck or are looking for more direction. A standard programme consists of five sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, online or on location, at your own pace.

A standard career coaching programme at Learnit consists of 5 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes. You start with a no-obligation intake and then work with the same coach on your questions about work, direction and development. The sessions take place online or on location. Do you need more depth? You can always extend the programme with additional sessions.

Career coaching can take place either online or on location; you choose whichever suits you best. Sessions last 60 to 90 minutes and are delivered by the same experienced career coach throughout. Online works well if you have little time for travel or want to plan flexibly. On location often brings more calm and focus. You can also combine the two, depending on your preference and diary.

Career coaching is suitable for anyone who wants to take a more considered look at their work, direction or development. Think of doubts about your current job, feeling stuck at work, returning after illness, or missing enjoyment and meaning in your work. You don't need a specific question. Curiosity or a need for perspective is already a good starting point for a programme.

Yes, on completing the career coaching programme you receive a Learnit certificate as proof of participation. You receive this certificate after the five standard coaching sessions with your dedicated coach. The programme is entirely tailor-made and can take place on location or online, in Dutch or English. Extending or deepening the programme after the five sessions is always possible.

A career coaching session lasts 60 to 90 minutes. Within that time you work with a dedicated coach on reflection questions, exercises and practical examples. A full programme consists as standard of five sessions, which you schedule at your own pace. The length of each session gives you enough room to go into depth, without becoming too demanding alongside your work.

A career test or self-help book gives you insight based on questionnaires and general models. You get an outcome, but you translate it into choices yourself. Career coaching works the other way round: you start from your own situation and the coach helps you probe further, recognise patterns and see blind spots that a test does not pick up. At Learnit, a programme consists as standard of 5 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes with a fixed coach. Tests or tools can be used, but they are supporting, not leading. A test costs you an hour and produces a report. Coaching takes more time, but delivers concrete choices, direction and a plan that suits you. Choose coaching if you notice that reading or testing alone is not getting you any further.

Career coaching suits you if you have doubts about your professional direction, feel stuck or are looking for more focus, and are willing to reflect on your motivations and choices. You work with a dedicated coach on self-insight, sources of energy and concrete next steps. A programme consists as standard of five sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, online or on location. Choose a different format if your question is purely practical: for CV optimisation or interview training, a focused workshop is more effective. In the case of psychological complaints or burnout recovery, a psychologist or occupational social worker is more appropriate. If you are looking to deepen your professional expertise, a course is the more obvious choice. Career coaching focuses specifically on the question of who you are, what drives you and which direction suits you. In two minds? A no-obligation intake helps to clarify that.

Yes. Career coaching does not require a specific objective in advance. Curiosity, doubt or a need for perspective is a perfectly good starting point. In the intake you discuss what is going on, after which the coach determines the direction of the programme together with you. A standard programme consists of 5 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, in which you explore your motivations, talents and sources of energy through reflection questions, exercises and sometimes tests. This differs from a job application coach or CV check: the aim is not to find your next job straight away, but to get clear on what suits you. Many participants start without a specific question and discover along the way where the difficulties lie and which direction feels logical. The programme can be extended or deepened if 5 sessions turn out not to be enough.

Career coaching combines well with a full-time job. A programme consists as standard of 5 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, spread over several weeks to months. You set the pace. Sessions can take place online or on location, which makes planning around work easier. Between sessions you work with reflection questions or small assignments, but this is not homework on the scale of a study programme. Expect a couple of hours a week of reflection or observation in your work. One thing is important, though: career coaching requires mental space. If you are in a peak period with no let-up, there is a greater chance that your sessions will remain superficial. The coaching works best when you have time between sessions to let what has been discussed sink in.

The standard programme consists of five sessions. Extension is possible and is agreed on a case-by-case basis, not sold automatically. In the final session you evaluate together with your coach what you have achieved and what may still be outstanding. Extending makes sense if, for example, you have a clear direction but still want to work on job interviews, a conversation with your employer, or exploring a concrete switch. It makes less sense if you mainly need time to let things sink in: in that case a break of a few weeks often works better than extra sessions. You decide for yourself whether to continue. For most participants a programme of five sessions is enough to gain clarity and direction.

Career coaching at Learnit is an individual guidance programme of five sessions, focused on direction, drivers and conscious career choices. It is not outplacement: there is no link with an employer parting ways with you, no job application support as its core aim and no legal framework surrounding the end of employment. An outplacement programme is usually longer (often 6 to 12 months) and includes active mediation towards new work. A UWV programme is tied to reintegration and linked to benefit conditions. Learnit career coaching is free of those frameworks and is something you choose yourself, on your own initiative or via your employer. You work with a fixed coach in sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, online or on location, in Dutch or English. Extension is possible if your question turns out to be broader than five sessions.
