As a manager, you want to be able to hold your own in discussions with financial colleagues and take well-founded decisions. This course gives you a solid grounding in financial management in a short time, from annual accounts to ratio analysis. That way you can represent your organisation's interests even better.
In this course you build a solid foundation in financial management, so that as a non-financial manager you can discuss figures, annual accounts and financial issues within your organisation with more confidence.
You start with the basic economic principles and build up your knowledge step by step. You become familiar with the components of the annual accounts, learn to work with commonly used analysis tools and get to grips with concepts such as liquidity position, return on investment and ratio analysis. In addition, you learn to approach financial issues in a structured way, to support decisions with sound reasoning and to set out the financial side of your work clearly on paper.
The theory is linked directly to recognisable practical cases, so that you can apply what you have learned straight away in your own working situation. Your own practical examples are welcome and you can share them with Learnit in advance, so that the programme fits your situation well.
After this course you will understand the language of finance. You will read a set of annual accounts, see through the balance sheet, profit and loss account and cash flow statement, and recognise what is really relevant to your department or organisation.
You analyse the financial position of your department or company using ratios and key figures such as liquidity, solvency and return on investment. You substantiate investment decisions, draw up a realistic budget and monitor budgets within the Planning & Control cycle.
You calculate the relationship between purchase price, cost price and selling price, and you draw up clear financial reports with which you account to the board, the controller or the accountant. From now on you can hold your own with your financial colleagues and take better substantiated decisions for your organisation and your people.
This course is particularly suitable for managers and staff who regularly deal with financial matters without being ultimately responsible for the figures themselves. You learn to communicate more easily with your CFO, controller or accountant and are better able to contribute to financial issues within your organisation.
You practise the theory straight away using recognisable practical cases, so that you really master the material. You get plenty of personal attention and room for your own questions. Our experienced trainers help you apply the material immediately in your own work situation.
It works well if you bring your own practical examples to the course. Preferably let Learnit know in advance and email your files to us beforehand.
No specific prior knowledge is required for this course. Do you have your own practical examples or financial documents from your work? Feel free to send them to us in advance, so that we can use them during the course.
You may email us your own practical examples before the course, so that the trainer can incorporate them into the programme.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.

Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.
