What does it deliver?

Team coaching can deliver a range of valuable benefits, both for individual team members and for the organisation as a whole. Here are some of the most important ones:

  • Better performance: better communication and collaboration allow a team to work more efficiently, which improves the organisation's productivity and performance.
  • Improved communication: team coaching leads to clearer and more respectful communication, which is essential for good collaboration.
  • Growing trust: By taking on challenges together, trust between team members grows, which improves collaboration and the atmosphere.
  • Effective conflict resolution: team coaching offers techniques for resolving conflicts constructively, which leads to a healthier working environment.
  • Greater engagement
  • Team members feel more valued, which leads to greater satisfaction and better team performance.

In short, team coaching can have a transformative effect on a team, leading to improved performance, higher employee satisfaction and a strong, cohesive culture within the organisation.

When is team coaching appropriate?

Paying attention to how a team functions is important in every organisation. Sometimes things run smoothly. Sometimes there are tensions within the team that stand in the way of optimal cooperation. For every organisation it is important to keep an eye on how cooperation within teams is going. Examples of signs that things are not running smoothly in a team are: conflicts, hidden messages such as 'I don't say anything any more'.

Is the team back on track after a team coaching programme? Changes inside and outside the organisation will also lead to changes within the team. That is why it is important to keep an eye on cooperation within the team. Regular maintenance of the team therefore remains necessary.

What does the team coach do?

A team coach helps the team to grow in communication and collaboration.

Is there friction within the team? The team coach will defuse conflicts by creating a constructive, safe atmosphere. Within this, team members are encouraged to speak up in a respectful way. The team coach works with the team and reflects on what is happening in the undercurrent. The undercurrent is what happens in communication that is not about the content of what is said, but about what goes on underneath in the relational sphere. What is actually being said? What is the hidden message? By looking at what happens in the undercurrent, team members gain insight into their own communication style, as well as into the roles and patterns within the group. This helps members to understand one another and to appreciate and make use of their differences. Trust within the group increases. Team members dare to speak up and learn to give and receive feedback effectively and respectfully. This strengthens the team's collaboration.

Can you also do it yourself, without a team coach?

As an organisation there is a great deal you can do yourself. In fact, a team coach can only guide the process. For team development to succeed, you first and foremost need commitment and ownership from the team members and management.
We provide tools, tips and aids so you can get to work with your team yourself.

How many coaching sessions?

We always agree with the client on how many sessions will be held. To genuinely create movement in a team with a sound team coaching question and lasting results, you should count on around 5 sessions of half a day. We often start with a full day as a kick-off, followed by another 4 half-days spread over a period of 4-6 months.

A team ideally consists of 4 to 8 members. Beyond that it becomes a group that does not share the same joint task. With more than 12 participants we deploy 2 team coaches.

Target audience

The target group for team coaching consists of teams within organisations that want to improve collaboration, communication and performance. Team coaching focuses specifically on:

  • Company teams: teams in businesses of any size that are aiming for better cooperation, higher productivity and a positive working environment. This can range from management teams to project groups and operational teams.
  • Departments with internal tensions: teams where conflict, miscommunication or a lack of trust is hampering effectiveness. Team coaching helps these teams to resolve tensions and encourage constructive cooperation.
  • New teams: recently formed teams that need guidance to work together effectively at short notice, understand roles and develop a strong group dynamic.
  • Teams in transition: teams facing changes such as reorganisations, new managers or mergers, and which need support to adapt and maintain cohesion.
  • Underperforming teams: teams that are lagging behind in performance and need renewed energy, direction and improved working methods.
  • HR professionals and managers: people within organisations who are responsible for the development and well-being of teams and who are looking for ways to optimise team dynamics and performance.
  • Non-profit and public sector: Teams within non-profit organisations and government bodies that want to improve their collaboration in order to achieve their shared goals more effectively.

What others say about this course

“Under highly professional guidance, as a team of 18 people we made real progress in just 4 half-day sessions in the area of expectations and communication with each other. There turned out to be more beneath the surface than we had thought beforehand; this came out into the open and was discussed properly. We evaluate the agreements together every two years in order to keep to what we agreed.”
