Description
In this course you learn how to use Claude for in-depth research and analysis of large volumes of text. You work with Claude's long context, which lets you process thousands of pages at once. Think of academic articles, contracts, policy documents and reports.
You practise with Claude.ai and, optionally, Claude for desktop. The focus is on supplying documents in the right way, setting up Projects as a persistent research file and obtaining analyses with traceable source references and page numbers. You also look at strategies for minimising hallucinations and validating Claude's answers against the source.
In the second part, you go deeper into critical reasoning: spotting contradictions within a corpus, reconstructing arguments, mapping out literature and making technical texts accessible to non-experts. Working with confidential documents is also covered, including privacy, retention and audit trail. You bring along your own research question and documents, so that you apply what you learn directly to your own practice.
The course is given in the classroom or online, in groups of no more than eight participants. In-company delivery is available on request.

Target audience
This course is for anyone who regularly works with large volumes of text and wants to analyse them more deeply than an ordinary search allows. You have a higher education level of thinking (HBO or university) and are comfortable in a digital working environment. Prior knowledge of AI is not required.

Teaching method
You follow this course day in the classroom or online, in a group of no more than 8 participants. The course is practical in approach: you work with Claude.ai and optionally with Claude for desktop, and practise with large document sets such as academic articles, contracts, policy documents and reports.
In the morning you delve into long-context and source work: how to supply documents correctly, have citations included with page numbers, carry out multi-document analyses and set up Projects as a persistent research file. The afternoon focuses on critical reasoning and synthesis, including spotting contradictions, reconstructing arguments and validating Claude's answers against the source.
You bring your own research question with a set of documents, so that you can get to work with your own material straight away. Afterwards you receive a digital workbook with the practice corpora, a methodology document with a validation checklist and a certificate of attendance.
Prior knowledge
You have a higher professional or university level of thinking and feel comfortable in a digital working environment. Prior knowledge of AI or Claude is not required. A Claude account is useful, though. A Pro subscription is preferable, as this allows you to work with the large contexts that are central to this course.

The course is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer speaks English. English-language course materials can be used. If at least 3 participants register, the course can also be given entirely in English.

Can I cancel free of charge?
Yes. Up to four weeks before the first day of the course you can cancel free of charge, without giving a reason. You then receive a credit note or, if you have already paid, a refund. If you cancel later, you pay part of the course fee: 25% between four and two weeks before the start, 75% in the two weeks before it and 100% in the final week. Moving to another start date is free of charge up to two weeks before the start, after that 50%. Sending a colleague in your place is always possible. Read the cancellation terms.

How is the course taught and what materials do you work with?
The course has a practical approach. You work in a group of no more than 8 participants in Claude.ai and optionally in Claude for desktop, using real document sets such as articles, contracts and reports. The trainer gives personal feedback on your prompts, approach and results. You receive course material with examples and working patterns that you can reuse later.
Why should I take this course rather than experiment with Claude myself?
Experimenting on your own gets you some of the way, but in research and analysis precision makes all the difference. In this course, you learn how to supply documents so that Claude cites reliably, how to minimise hallucinations and how to validate answers systematically against the source. That saves hours of searching and prevents mistakes you cannot afford to make in serious research.
Can I apply what I have learned directly in my own work?
Yes, that is how it is set up. You bring your own research question and a set of your own documents, and work on them directly during the course. At the end, you have concrete working patterns, example prompts and a Project structure that is set up and ready to take straight into your own practice.
What is the difference with the broader Claude course or a general AI course at Learnit?
A general Claude or AI course covers the broad range of applications: writing, brainstorming, summarising, automating. This course focuses entirely on the research and analysis of large document sets: long context, source work with citations, multi-document analysis and critical reasoning. If you do not yet have a basic knowledge of Claude, the broader course is good preparation for this more advanced one.
Is this course suitable for lawyers who work with contracts and case files?
Certainly. Lawyers are one of the target groups. You will learn how to compare contracts and case files, identify differences and contradictions, reconstruct arguments and have quotations included with page numbers so that your conclusions are traceable. Handling confidential documents responsibly is also covered.
How does the course deal with confidential documents and privacy?
We pay explicit attention to working with confidential documents: which information you should and should not upload, what Claude's retention policy involves, how to build up an audit trail and how to make agreements within your organisation about responsible use. That way, you know where the limits lie before you put sensitive documents into Claude.
