With Copilot in Microsoft 365 you work faster, smarter and with a better overview. In this course you get practical tools to use Copilot straight away in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. Without complicated AI jargon, and with immediate results.

Description

Microsoft 365 is part of your daily work, but repetitive tasks still take up a lot of time. In this course you will get to grips with Microsoft Copilot: the AI assistant that works alongside you in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

You will learn how to write clear prompts, how to assess and adjust Copilot's output, and how to use the assistant to draft texts, summarise emails or analyse data. You will also gain insight into what Copilot can and cannot do well, where the limits lie and how to deal sensibly with privacy and sensitive information.

You work with recognisable practical examples from your own working day and have plenty of room to practise, so that after the course you can get to work with Copilot more smartly and efficiently straight away.

Topics

  • What Copilot is and how it works within Microsoft 365
  • Writing smart prompts that Copilot understands
  • Using Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Having texts drafted, summarised and rewritten
  • Summarising emails and meetings and drawing action points from conversations
  • Analysing data and generating insights in Excel
  • Assessing, adjusting and improving Copilot output
  • Recognising the possibilities and limitations of Copilot
  • Handling privacy and sensitive information consciously
  • Practising with your own practical examples and work cases

Result

After this course you will know how Copilot makes your working day more efficient. You will write clear prompts effortlessly and recognise where it is smart to use Copilot. And where you are better off doing the work yourself. Because you have practised with your own cases, you can apply what you have learned directly in your daily work in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

You have learned to assess and adjust Copilot's output critically, so that you always end up with a reliable final result. You also know where the limits lie and how to deal consciously with privacy and sensitive information.

Target audience

This course is intended for anyone who works with Microsoft 365 and is curious about the possibilities of Copilot. Think of project leaders, communications professionals, team coordinators or freelancers who want to work smarter.

Teaching method

You follow this course in a small group, so that there is ample room for your questions and your own working situations. The trainer alternates short explanations with practical exercises, in which you get to work with Copilot in Microsoft 365 straight away.

You work with recognisable examples from Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, and practise with prompts that match your daily tasks. You are welcome to bring your own cases. That way you apply what you have learned directly to your own work.

Afterwards you will receive a certificate of participation.

Prior knowledge

You work regularly with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook or Teams) and are comfortable with the basic functions. No other prior knowledge is required. Experience with AI tools is not necessary; curiosity and a willingness to practise are enough.

Frequently asked questions

The Microsoft Copilot course is suitable for anyone who works with Microsoft 365 on a daily basis and wants to work more smartly with AI. Think of project leaders, communications professionals, team coordinators and freelancers. You do not need any technical prior knowledge: basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams is enough to get started with Copilot straight away.

No, the Microsoft Copilot course does not require any technical prior knowledge or AI experience. It is useful, however, if you work with Microsoft 365 on a daily basis and are familiar with programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. The course is taught in a classroom setting. You get down to practical work straight away, using recognisable examples and your own cases.

In the Copilot course you work with Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. You learn how to use Copilot smartly in each programme: writing texts in Word, analysing data in Excel, summarising emails in Outlook and processing meetings in Teams. You practise with recognisable practical examples, so that you apply Copilot straight away in your own working day.

Yes, after the Microsoft Copilot course you will receive a certificate of attendance. You complete the course in which you practise with practical examples and your own cases. The certificate shows that you know how to use Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams to work more smartly and efficiently within Microsoft 365.

Yes, the Microsoft Copilot course can also be taken in-company. You then receive a tailored course, geared to the way your organisation uses Microsoft 365. Useful if you want to get started with Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams with a whole team at once. The duration stays the same and the content is aligned with your own practical examples.

Experimenting with Copilot yourself works fine for individual tasks, but you often lack structure and blind spots go unnoticed. In Learnit's classroom course you learn systematically how to build effective prompts, assess and adjust output critically, and use Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. You practise with recognisable practical examples and with your own cases. You also gain insight into what Copilot does not do reliably and how to deal with privacy and sensitive information. These are topics that, with self-study, you usually only learn about when something goes wrong. In short: self-study gives you isolated tricks, the course gives you a way of working that you can apply the same week.

Privacy and data use are a fixed part of the course day. You learn where the limits of Copilot lie and how to prevent sensitive information from ending up in the wrong place. Specifically, the following is covered: which type of data you should and should not put in a prompt, the difference between a business Microsoft 365 Copilot environment and a personal account, and how to check output before you share it with colleagues or clients. You practise with recognisable practical examples, so that after the day you make conscious choices about when Copilot is the smartest route and when it is not. The course is taught in a classroom setting.

Copilot saves time on tasks you repeat often: summarising emails, producing meeting notes in Teams, writing a first draft of a document or finding patterns in Excel data. For creative or strategic work the gain is smaller. Copilot then provides a starting point, not a finished product. During this classroom course you practise with your own work cases. That way you find out for yourself where Copilot speeds up your work and where you are better off doing it yourself. You also learn how to assess and adjust the output, because a prompt that does not work actually costs time. Those who only ask isolated questions without context often experience disappointing results. The quality of your prompt largely determines the time you save.

During the course day you work with recognisable practical examples in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. Think of summarising a long email exchange, rewriting a draft document, extracting minutes from a Teams meeting or analysing a dataset in Excel. With every assignment you practise formulating prompts and steering Copilot's output. You are explicitly given room to bring your own cases, for example a document, a mailbox situation or a recurring task from your work. The trainer helps you turn these into usable prompts. That is what sets it apart from a general demo: you leave with prompts tailored to your work, not just theory.

During the course you practise with prompts that match everyday office work in Microsoft 365. For example: 'Summarise this email exchange in five bullets and list the outstanding action points' in Outlook, 'Write a draft proposal of 300 words based on this document' in Word, or 'Analyse this revenue data by quarter and name the three biggest outliers' in Excel. In Teams you use prompts to summarise meetings and retrieve decisions. You learn to build a prompt using role, task, context and desired format. You also practise adjusting: asking follow-up questions, changing the tone or shortening the output. The course takes place (classroom-based) and you work with recognisable cases, possibly from your own practice.

The course is set up so that you can apply what you have learned the very next working day. You practise with recognisable practical examples and may bring your own cases, so you do not have to make the translation to your work later on. Realistically, you will see the first time savings on standard tasks: summarising emails in Outlook, drafting an initial version of a Word document, or quickly gaining insight from Excel data. For more complex applications, such as developing fixed prompt structures for recurring work, expect a few weeks of deliberate practice. The course gives you the framework and the prompt techniques; you build the routine by using Copilot daily afterwards. That differs from standalone e-learning, where you often have to bridge the gap to your own working practice yourself.
