A 19-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal. A 4-minute walk from the 'Muziekgebouw Bimhuis' tram stop. A 3-minute walk from the 'Piet Heinkade' bus stop.

Parking

Unfortunately we have no parking spaces of our own. If you come by car, your best option is a car park nearby.

Cheapest - Interparking IJ-oever Centrum (Vriesseveem 9)

For around € 17 you get a day ticket here. Booking online in advance is often cheaper still. From the car park it is a few minutes' walk to the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Closest - Parkeergarage Piet Hein

You can park directly underneath the Muziekgebouw in Parkeergarage Piet Hein. This is more expensive, however.

What participants say about Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager

P P.A.C. HoefnagelsVolkerRail B.V.

Do you need prior knowledge for the Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager course?
No, no prior financial knowledge is required for this course. The course starts with the basic economic principles and builds up your knowledge step by step. You learn to understand and apply concepts such as liquidity, return and ratio analysis. The programme is intended for managers and staff who deal with financial matters without being ultimately responsible for the figures themselves.
Who is the Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager course suitable for?
The course is intended for managers and staff who regularly deal with financial matters but are not themselves ultimately responsible for them. Think of team leaders, project managers, heads of department and entrepreneurs who want to think along better with the CFO, controller or accountant. During the course you build a solid foundation, without any prior knowledge being required.
Which topics are covered in the Financial management for the non-financial manager course?
You cover all the core elements of financial management: the balance sheet, the profit and loss account and the cash flow statement, reading annual accounts, ratio and key figure analysis, investment decisions, budgeting and budgets, cost price and selling price calculation, business structures, the Planning & Control cycle and financial reporting. You practise each topic straight away using recognisable real-life cases.
Can the Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager course also be taken in-company?
Yes, the Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager course can also be run in-company. In that case you get a tailored programme, geared to the figures, annual accounts and practical situations of your own organisation. An intake takes place beforehand to identify learning objectives and examples. The classroom course lasts as standard. ; a different rate applies for in-company delivery.
What does the teaching method of the Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager course look like?
The Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager course is classroom-based and lasts several days. You work in a small group with an experienced trainer who links the theory directly to recognisable practical cases. You practise with topics such as the annual accounts, investments and financial analyses. You may submit your own practical examples in advance, so that you can apply what you have learnt to your own working situation straight away.
When should you opt for this classroom course instead of an online financial management course?
Choose the classroom Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager course if you want to take financial concepts beyond reading and be able to apply them to your own situation. In class you work with recognisable practical cases and you can bring along your own annual accounts, budget or investment question. An experienced trainer gives immediate feedback on your analyses of, for example, liquidity, profitability and ratios. Online courses or e-learning modules often explain concepts well, but leave no room for specific questions about your department or sector. A classroom course works better if you manage a team, have to justify decisions to a controller or CFO, and want to exchange ideas with other participants in comparable roles. For purely basic knowledge without application, self-study may be enough.
What is the difference between this course and a full business economics programme or a controller programme?
This course is a basic financial management course for non-financial managers and the aim is that you can interpret an annual account, learn to make financial analyses and can hold your own in discussions with your controller, accountant or CFO. A business economics programme or a controller programme (such as a post-graduate Controlling course) soon takes one to three years and prepares you for a position with final financial responsibility. There you learn to draw up annual accounts yourself, apply tax legislation and consolidate. At Learnit the focus is on understanding and application in your management role: balance sheet, profit and loss account, cash flow statement, ratio analysis, investment issues and the Planning & Control cycle. Choose this course if you need financial insight for your work, not to become a financial specialist.
How long will it take before I can really read and interpret the annual accounts of my own company after this course?
You will be able to read an annual report in broad outline straight away: you will recognise the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement, and you will understand terms such as liquidity, solvency and profitability. To interpret your own annual accounts fluently, expect to need a few weeks of practical experience after the course. During the course you will practise with recognisable practical cases, and you may bring your organisation's own figures (you can also email them to Learnit in advance). This allows you to apply the theory directly to your own situation. Bear in mind that ratio analysis and investment decisions require more routine than basic understanding. The course gives you the framework and the terminology; applying it repeatedly to your own department's quarterly and annual figures is what makes the insight stick.
