Waar vindt de incompany training Access VBA plaats?
Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.
Can the content be tailored to our organisation?
Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.
How large can the group be?
That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.
Wat kost Access VBA incompany?
Je krijgt een vaste prijs voor de hele groep, in een offerte op maat. Met een groep is dat voordeliger dan iedereen los inschrijven.
Can the course be delivered in English?
Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.
Do participants receive a certificate?
Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.
How do I request a quote?
Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.
How long does the Access VBA course last and what will you learn?
The Access VBA course lasts two days and teaches you how to automate common tasks in Access using VBA. You will work with the VBA editor, the Access object model, subroutines, functions, variables, loops, IF and OR statements, Docmd objects and ADO techniques. Debugging and error handling are also covered. Afterwards you will be able to write and adapt VBA code within Access independently.
Do you need prior knowledge of Access for the VBA course?
Yes, for the Access VBA course you need a solid knowledge of Access. You already work with tables, queries, forms and reports and want to automate these actions. Programming experience is not required, but logical thinking and an affinity with structure will help you on your way. Unsure about your level? The trainer will gauge your starting point at the beginning of the course and tailor the exercises accordingly.
Which topics are covered in the Access VBA course?
In the Access VBA course you learn to work with the Access object model, the VBA editor, macros, subroutines and custom functions. You cover variables, IF and OR constructions, loops, Docmd objects and ADO techniques for database operations. Debugging and error handling are also covered. Afterwards you can automate common tasks in Access and adapt existing code independently.
Do you receive a certificate after the Access VBA course?
Yes, on completion of the Access VBA course you receive a certificate of attendance. This certificate confirms that you have followed the course and have actively practised the topics covered around VBA automation, the Access object model and error handling. You can add it to your LinkedIn profile or include it in your portfolio for an employer or client.
Is the Access VBA course suitable for self-study or classroom learning?
You take the Access VBA course in the open learning format: you work through the material at your own pace in a classroom, with an experienced trainer beside you for explanation, questions and feedback. This combines the freedom of self-study with direct guidance. You decide for yourself which topics receive extra attention, for example loops, error handling or ADO.
Can the Access VBA course also be taken in-company?
Yes, the Access VBA course can also be followed in-company. You then work through the course with colleagues at a location of your choice, for example at your office or at Learnit. The content can be tailored to the databases and processes within your own organisation, so that you work directly on recognisable practical examples. Request a quotation via the course page to discuss the options.
When should you choose a VBA course and when is macro training in Access sufficient?
That depends on what you want to automate. The built-in macro function in Access will get you quite far for standard actions: opening a form, printing a report, running a query. As soon as you need conditional logic, want to write your own functions, work with variables or manipulate records via ADO, macros will not take you any further. Then you need VBA. In the Access VBA course you work with the VBA editor, the object model, DoCmd objects, loops, IF/OR constructions and error handling. A rule of thumb: if your automations stay within one button on one form, macros are enough. If you really want to bend databases to your will and write reusable code, choose VBA. The course is given in the open learning format.
What do you get in Learnit's Access VBA course that you do not learn from a YouTube tutorial or an online manual?
The Access VBA course at Learnit is given in the open learning format: you work independently on your own learning objectives, with an experienced trainer beside you who looks directly at your code. The difference with self-study is concrete. With a tutorial you get stuck on an error message and spend hours looking for the cause. At Learnit you discuss your own problem, get an explanation of the Access object model and see why your code does not work. You may bring a practical example from your work, for instance a form you want to automate or a report you want to control via DoCmd. The trainer adapts the pace and the level of detail to your starting level. You also learn debugging and error handling, two topics that often remain superficial in free materials.
