A good prompt is the difference between twenty seconds of work and half an hour saved. On this course you learn how large language models interpret your input, and which building blocks you can deploy to get better answers. You practise with all three of the most widely used AI tools: ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot.

You start with the fundamentals. What actually happens when a language model reads your prompt? Why do some formulations work and others don't? You learn the five building blocks (role, context, task, format and examples) and practise refining a prompt systematically rather than by trial and error.

The afternoon covers advanced techniques. Chain-of-thought for step-by-step reasoning on complex questions. Few-shot for consistent output across multiple tasks. You build prompts for writing, summarising, analysing and brainstorming. You also learn where the limits lie: you'll now spot hallucinations, bias and invented sources straight away.

You work in a small group of no more than 12 participants, so the trainer has time for your questions. The course can be taken in the classroom or online. You receive a workbook with fifty ready-made prompts, a template for your own prompt library and a checklist for assessing AI output.

Prior knowledge

You have basic experience with at least one AI tool such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot. You know how to open a chat and ask a question. Programming knowledge is not required. It helps if you can bring along a number of recurring work tasks that you use AI for or want to start using it for.
