Claude for office work

Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant and excels at reading long documents, reasoning critically and writing consistently in your tone of voice. In this course you will learn how to use Claude.ai for your daily office work, from reports to risk analyses.

Description

Claude.ai feels different from ChatGPT or Copilot. You get longer answers, more extensive reasoning and an assistant that easily processes 100 pages of PDF without losing the thread. It is precisely these qualities that make Claude strong for work involving a lot of reading, analysing and writing.

You are introduced to the three core features of Claude.ai: Projects (fixed working environments with their own instructions and knowledge files), Artifacts (documents, letters or mock-ups that Claude builds alongside the chat) and file uploads for PDFs, spreadsheets and images. In the morning the focus is on prompting and setting up Projects; in the afternoon you apply everything to realistic work situations.

You work with your own files and cases, so you practise directly in the context of your own work. The trainer gives personal feedback and shares patterns that do and don't work for Claude. Privacy and business use are also covered: what stays within your organisation and what does not.

By the end of the day you have a working way of using Claude. You know when to choose Claude over Copilot or ChatGPT, and you have Projects and prompts ready to use straight away on Monday.

Result

After this course you will work independently with Claude.ai for your daily office work. You will know when Claude is a better choice than Copilot or ChatGPT and you will make the most of its strengths: processing long documents, reasoning critically and writing consistently in your tone of voice.

Specifically, by the end you will be able to:

• prompting effectively in Claude with the right tone, structure and examples;
• writing and rewriting reports, emails and proposals in your own style;
• uploading long PDFs, spreadsheets and images and having them analysed;
• Setting up Projects with your own instructions and knowledge files, so that Claude remembers your context;
• using Artifacts to build and adjust documents, letters and mock-ups directly in Claude;
• using Claude as a sounding board for counterarguments, blind spots and risk assessments;
• summarising long documents while retaining source references;
• make deliberate choices about what you do and do not process in Claude from a privacy and business use perspective.

Target audience

This course is intended for people who regularly write, analyse or substantiate decisions in their work and who want to use an AI assistant that thinks along critically and handles long documents well. No prior knowledge of AI is required; basic skills with web applications are sufficient.

The course is intended for:

• managers and team leaders who draw up reports, notes and decision documents;
• policy officers who do a lot of reading, summarising and advising;
• consultants and advisers who write analyses and proposals;
• lawyers working through contracts and case files;
• marketers and communications staff who write in a consistent tone;
• employees who want to use Claude as an alternative to, or in addition to, Copilot or ChatGPT.

Teaching method

You work in Claude.ai all day with realistic cases from your own job. After a short introduction on what sets Claude apart from Copilot and ChatGPT, you get started straight away: prompting, uploading files, setting up Projects and building Artifacts.

In the afternoon you apply what you have learned to writing, summarising, analysing and sparring. You bring along a working file of your own, so that you experience straight away how Claude works in your daily practice. The trainer gives personal feedback and shares patterns that do and do not work for Claude.

The group has a maximum of 8 participants, so there is plenty of room for questions and your own cases. You can take the course in the classroom or online (via a video meeting). Afterwards you will receive a digital workbook with practice files, a prompt cheat sheet for Claude and a certificate of participation.

Prior knowledge

You do not need any prior knowledge of AI. Basic skills with web applications are enough. A Claude account (free or Pro) will do; if necessary, Learnit will arrange a test account for you.

Comments

Bring a laptop and a work file of your own (a report, proposal, contract or other text you are working on), so that you can practise straight away in your own working context. A Claude account is sufficient, either free or Pro.

In-company

Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.

Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
