Where does the in-company Income Tax course take place?
Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.
Can the content be tailored to our organisation?
Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.
How large can the group be?
That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.
What does Income Tax in-company cost?
You get a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quote. For a group this works out cheaper than booking everyone individually. For comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs EUR 1250,- excl. VAT per participant.
Can the course be delivered in English?
Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.
Do participants receive a certificate?
Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.
How do I request a quote?
Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.
Who is the Income Tax course suitable for?
The Income Tax course is intended for staff at accountancy and administration firms who, alongside the financial statements, also prepare income tax returns. Payroll administrators, financial administrators and finance professionals responsible for payroll tax returns also take this course. You are taught in a classroom setting and learn all about current legislation and regulations, deductions, boxes and tax credits.
Which topics are covered in the Income Tax course?
The Income Tax course covers all the elements of a correct tax return: the box system, tax credits, deductions (such as the owner-occupied home and the travel deduction), annuities, tax partnership and resident versus non-resident tax liability. In addition you cover profit from business activities, the entrepreneur's allowance, the consequences of the Wet VBAR for self-employed professionals and the audit methods of the Dutch Tax Administration. You finish with current legislation and regulations.
Do you receive a certificate after the Income Tax course?
Yes, on completing the Income Tax course you receive a certificate of participation. This certificate shows that you have attended the classroom course and have knowledge of tax returns, tax credits, deductions, tax partnership and current legislation and regulations. You can use the certificate for your CPD portfolio or as evidence for your employer and clients.
What prior knowledge do you need for the Income Tax course?
For the Income Tax course you need basic knowledge of tax concepts and experience with payroll or financial administration. The course is designed for staff at accountancy and administration firms, payroll administrators and finance professionals who already work with tax returns. No specific prior education is required, but practical experience with payroll taxes or financial statements will help you to apply the material to best effect.
Is the Income Tax course classroom-based or online?
You take the Income Tax course in a classroom setting in a small group. You are taught by an experienced trainer, so you can ask questions straight away and put practical situations to them. The classroom format ensures interaction with fellow participants and the trainer, which helps you grasp current legislation and regulations and complex deductions better than through self-study.
What is the difference between the Income Tax course and a Payroll Taxes course, and when do you choose which?
The Income Tax course focuses on income tax returns for private individuals, business owners and self-employed people. You learn to work with boxes, tax credits, deductible items (such as owner-occupied homes and travel deductions), annuities, tax partnership and profit from business activities. A Payroll Taxes course deals with what the employer withholds and remits: wage tax, national insurance contributions and employee insurance contributions.
Choose Income Tax if you prepare income tax returns at an accountancy or administration firm, or if, as a payroll administrator, you receive questions about employees' private tax returns. Choose Payroll Taxes if you handle the payroll administration and the payroll tax return.
The Income Tax course covers the relationship between wage tax and income tax explicitly, plus current changes such as the VBAR Act for self-employed people.
What does the Income Tax course at Learnit give you that you won't learn from an online tax course or the Belastingdienst's explanatory notes?
A general online course or the explanatory notes to the tax return software explains the rules, but does not address your specific client situations. In the classroom-based Income Tax course you work with an experienced trainer on practical situations you encounter at an accountancy or administration firm. Topics include tax partnership, the box system, tax credits, owner-occupied home deductions, annuities, profit from business activities and the consequences of the Wet VBAR for self-employed workers. You can ask questions about your own cases and receive immediate feedback. The Belastingdienst's audit methods and the difference between domestic and foreign tax liability are also covered. The course focuses on being able to complete a tax return correctly and substantiate it to clients or colleagues.
How up to date is the content of the Income Tax course, and how do you deal with annual changes in legislation?
The Income Tax course is updated annually on the basis of the most recent legislation and regulations. This means that the current rates, tax credits, box 1 brackets, the notional return in box 3 and the current entrepreneur's allowance are covered as they apply at the time of the course. Recent developments are also addressed, for example the consequences of the VBAR Act for self-employed workers and changes to deductions relating to the owner-occupied home. This is an important difference from a static online course or an outdated handbook: you are taught in a classroom by a trainer who explains the changes and answers your questions about specific practical situations. Useful if you prepare tax returns in your work and want to be sure you are working with the rules for this tax year.
