You learn how to put your reader at the centre of every text you write. You work on your message, the structure of your text, your sentences, your tone and your word choice. After the course you will write emails, letters and short reports faster and with more confidence, texts that your reader understands straight away.
The course is intended for anyone who regularly writes short business texts for work, such as emails, letters, memos or short reports. Think of staff in customer service, secretarial support, policy, communications, HR or management.
No, you do not need any specific prior knowledge. A good command of Dutch at a professional level is sufficient. The course is tailored to your level and your day-to-day writing practice.
The course is practical and interactive. Short explanations alternate with writing assignments on your own texts, exercises and group reflection. You receive personal feedback from the trainer and also learn from the other participants.
Yes, afterwards you receive the Learnit certificate of participation. This certificate shows that you took an active part in the Customer-focused Writing course.
Yes, this is actively encouraged. You practise best with material that fits your daily work. Before the course starts there is a short intake with the trainer, in which you can raise points of attention and your own examples.
Customer-focused writing concentrates on short business texts such as emails, letters and memos, with plenty of attention to tone and reader focus. Writing clear texts is intended for people who mainly write longer documents, such as reports, policy papers or advisory notes.
The course focuses on the Dutch language area, but the principles of customer-focused writing (thinking from your reader's perspective, clear structure, concise sentences) apply just as well to your English, German or French business texts. Many participants therefore apply the tips more widely.
Small groups, also in-company at your office.
