You write for work every day. Even so, a good email or letter often takes more time than you'd like. In this course you'll learn to write faster, with more confidence and with texts that really get through to your reader.
Customer-focused writing starts with your reader. Who are they, what do they want to know, and what should they do after reading? Those questions determine your tone, your structure and your choice of words. During the course you'll work from large to small: first your message and structure, then your paragraphs and sentences, and finally your word choice and spelling.
The course is practical and interactive. You practise with your own texts, receive feedback from the trainer and learn from the other participants. Afterwards you write more consciously, more quickly and with more impact.
The approach focuses on the Dutch language area, but the principles work just as well for your English, German or French business texts.
After the course you will write business texts faster and with more confidence, texts that your reader understands straight away. You will know how to sharpen your message, structure your text logically and adapt your tone to your target audience. Your emails and letters will become shorter, clearer and more effective, so you spend less time rewriting and following up on questions.
The course is intended for anyone who regularly writes short business texts, such as emails, letters, memos or short reports. Think of staff in customer service, secretarial support, policy, communications, HR or management. Do you mainly write longer documents? Then the Writing Clear Texts course is a better fit for you. Do you mainly have questions about spelling and grammar? In that case, take a look at the Dutch Spelling and Grammar course.
The course is practice-oriented and interactive. You'll alternate short explanations with exercises on your own texts, short writing assignments and reflection with the group. You'll receive personal feedback from the trainer and learn from the approach taken by your fellow participants. Before the course starts, the trainer will briefly contact you for an intake, so that the content matches your working practice.
No specific prior knowledge is required. A good command of Dutch at working level is sufficient.
The course is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer speaks English. English-language course materials can be used. If at least 3 participants register, the course can also be given entirely in English.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.

Yes, this is actively encouraged. You practise best with material that fits your daily work. Before the course starts there is a short intake with the trainer, in which you can raise points of attention and your own examples.
Customer-focused writing concentrates on short business texts such as emails, letters and memos, with plenty of attention to tone and reader focus. Writing clear texts is intended for people who mainly write longer documents, such as reports, policy papers or advisory notes.
The course focuses on the Dutch language area, but the principles of customer-focused writing (thinking from your reader's perspective, clear structure, concise sentences) apply just as well to your English, German or French business texts. Many participants therefore apply the tips more widely.
Then the Dutch Spelling and Grammar course is a better fit for you. In Customer-focused writing we do pay attention to word choice and common language errors, but the emphasis is on structure, tone and reader focus. Not sure? Then get in touch for advice.
Yes, that is possible. If several colleagues in your team or department are dealing with the same writing questions, we can deliver the course in-company. We then tailor the content to the texts and situations that are relevant to you. Get in touch to discuss the options.
Before the course starts, the trainer will contact you for a short intake. You can then raise points of attention, examples from your work and questions. This allows the trainer to make sure the programme matches the texts you write in practice.
