Gossip in the workplace is a sensitive subject. Everyone joins in from time to time and often it is harmless. But when conversations about colleagues become consistently negative, problems arise. People feel excluded, the atmosphere deteriorates and the work suffers. As a manager, HR officer or confidential adviser you want to spot this and address it before it gets out of hand. In this course you learn how to do so in a respectful and effective way.

Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.
That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.
You get a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quotation. For a group this works out cheaper than registering everyone individually. For comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs EUR 625,- excl. VAT per participant.

You learn to recognise and tackle negative gossip in the workplace. You make an analysis of your own team, learn how to address key figures effectively and gain techniques for improving the working atmosphere. You also work on encouraging desirable behaviour and setting a culture change in motion within your team or organisation.
The course is suitable for team leaders, managers, HR staff and confidential advisers who deal with gossip as part of their role. Teams that want to work together on their internal communication and culture are also welcome to attend the course as a group.
You do not need any specific prior knowledge. It does help if your work involves a team or addressing people about their behaviour. Some work experience makes it easier to relate the material directly to your own situation.
The course combines theory with plenty of practice. You work with role plays, case studies and examples from your own working life. In a safe atmosphere you experiment with new skills and receive immediate feedback from your trainer and fellow participants.
The course is classroom-based and interactive. You work in a small group, so there is plenty of room for personal attention, practice and discussing your own situations. Theory and practice alternate throughout.
The course is delivered by an experienced Learnit trainer with extensive expertise in team dynamics, communication and behaviour in the workplace. The trainer combines theoretical knowledge with a great deal of practical experience and gives you targeted feedback.
Afterwards you receive a Learnit certificate as proof of participation. You also go home with practical tools, insights and a concrete approach that you can apply straight away in your own team or organisation.
Beforehand, there is room for a short intake interview. It helps if you think about situations from your own working practice that you would like to bring to the course. The more specific your examples, the more you will get out of the course.
Request a quote without obligation and an adviser will get back to you soon. With one or two colleagues? Dealing constructively with gossip in the workplace is scheduled 3 times in the coming year, in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
