Where does the in-company Power BI Advanced course take place?

Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.

Can the content be tailored to our organisation?

Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.

How large can the group be?

That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.

What does Power BI Advanced in-company cost?

You receive a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quotation. For a group this works out cheaper than booking everyone individually. For comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs € 1190,- excl. VAT per participant.

Can the course be delivered in English?

Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.

Do participants receive a certificate?

Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.

How do I request a quote?

Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.

What prior knowledge do you need for the Power BI Advanced course?
For the Power BI Advanced course you need a basic knowledge of Power BI. You already work with Power BI Desktop, know the Power Query Editor and have created reports before. If you have taken the Power BI Basics course or gained comparable experience in practice, you will fit in well. Experience with Excel and data analysis is an advantage.

The Power BI Advanced course is intended for (financial) professionals who already work with Power BI and want to get the most out of the tool. Think of controllers, business analysts, data analysts and reporting specialists who want to learn to build complex DAX formulas, advanced visualisations and smart data models. Do you work with management reports every day and want to go beyond the basics? Then this classroom course is right for you.
Which topics are covered in the Power BI Advanced course?
The Power BI Advanced course focuses on DAX functions and formulas, such as CALCULATE, RELATED, SUMX and Time Intelligence functions. You will learn how to import data from various sources via Power Query, build a calendar table, manage relationships and create advanced visuals using bookmarks, slicer synchronisation, parameters and your own templates. Practical examples and exercises alternate throughout this classroom-based course.
Do you receive a certificate after the Power BI Advanced course?
Yes, on completion of the Power BI Advanced course you receive a certificate of participation from Learnit. This certificate confirms that you have attended the classroom course and have mastered the advanced Power BI skills, including DAX functions, time intelligence and complex data models. You are presented with the certificate immediately after finishing the second course day.
What will you learn about DAX functions in the Power BI Advanced course?
In the Power BI Advanced course you learn to work with DAX functions such as CALCULATE, RELATED and SUMX, plus Time Intelligence functions using a DAX calendar. You practise with calculated columns, measures and parameters in formulas and in the Query Editor. Through demonstrations you learn to recognise the different DAX categories and apply them to your own reports.
What is the difference between Learnit's Power BI Advanced course and an online DAX course that I can follow myself?
An online self-study DAX course is cheaper and can be followed at your own pace, but you only work on pre-designed examples. Learnit's Power BI Advanced course is taught in a classroom setting. You work on a course laptop or your own laptop with a trainer present, which gives three differences compared with self-study: 1. You can bring in your own reports and datasets from your day-to-day practice and ask questions about them straight away. 2. Tricky DAX formulas such as CALCULATE, RELATED, SUMX and Time Intelligence functions are demonstrated and explained live at the moment you get stuck. 3. Theory and practice alternate at a steady pace, so that you work through all of the material. Choose self-study if you mainly want to go deeper at moments that suit you. Choose the classroom advanced course if you want to make structured progress with DAX and data modelling in a short space of time.
When should I choose the Power BI Advanced course and when is a tailored in-company programme a better option?
Learnit's classroom-based Power BI Advanced course You choose this if you want to take part individually or with one or two colleagues, and your learning objective matches the standard programme: DAX functions such as CALCULATE, RELATED and SUMX, calendar tables, time intelligence, parameters and advanced report view. You work on a course laptop or your own laptop with Microsoft Power BI and Excel, in a small group with room for your own questions. An in-company course makes more sense from around four participants, or when you want to work with specific company data, your own data sources or a different scope. If you do not need advanced course level, the Power BI Basics course is a better fit. Unsure about your level? Then the scheduled course is a safe choice: the programme starts with a brief recap of the basic principles.
How quickly after the Power BI Advanced course can I actually apply the DAX formulas and calendar table in my own reports?
You apply what you have learned straight away. During the classroom course you work on a course laptop or your own laptop with the same kind of data and reports you encounter every day, so you practise immediately with CALCULATE, SUMX, RELATED and the DAX calendar. Most participants apply the basic DAX formulas and time intelligence functions in their own working environment within a week of the course. More complex constructions, such as what-if parameters or a fully customised calendar table with dynamic periods, generally require two to four weeks of practical experience. You take home a practical workbook in which all the formulas covered are worked out step by step, so that you can refer back to the examples. The course is intended for users who already use Power BI for management reporting.
