Where does the in-company Payroll Administration course take place?
Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.
Can the content be tailored to our organisation?
Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.
How large can the group be?
That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.
What does Payroll Administration in-company cost?
You get a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quote. For a group this works out cheaper than booking everyone individually. For comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs EUR 1250,- excl. VAT per participant.
Can the course be delivered in English?
Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.
Do participants receive a certificate?
Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.
How do I request a quote?
Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.
Who is the Payroll Administration course suitable for and what prior knowledge do you need?
The Payroll Administration course is suitable for entrepreneurs, finance staff, HR staff and payroll administrators who are responsible for payroll administration and the payroll tax return. No specific prior knowledge is required. It is useful, however, if you have an affinity with figures and a basic knowledge of administrative processes. During the course you build up complete knowledge from the ground up.
Do you receive a certificate after the Payroll Administration course?
Yes, on completing the classroom-based Payroll Administration course you will receive a certificate of participation. This certificate shows that you attended both course days and have mastered the topics covered, such as gross-to-net calculations, payroll taxes, employee insurance contributions (Zvw, WIA) and allowances. It is a valuable addition to your CV for roles in HR, finance or payroll administration.
What will you learn on days 1 and 2 of the Payroll Administration course?
On day 1 you learn how to set up a correct payroll administration using a practical step-by-step plan, and how to make a gross-to-net calculation. Day 2 focuses on deductions, levies, social security contributions (Zvw, WIA/WGA), employee insurance contributions, wage cost benefits and the permitted allowances and benefits in kind. You also learn how the Belastingdienst checks these.
Is the Payroll Administration course taught in a classroom or online?
The Payroll Administration course is taught in the classroom, spread over two consecutive days. You follow the course in a small group, which leaves plenty of room to ask questions and discuss practical situations from your own work. The classroom set-up ensures direct interaction with the trainer and fellow participants, so you can immediately practise calculation examples, gross-to-net calculations and the step-by-step plan.
What course materials do you receive with the Payroll Administration course?
With the Payroll Administration course you receive a complete course book with theory, practical examples and a step-by-step plan for setting up your payroll administration correctly. You also work through exercises on gross-to-net calculations, deductions and allowances. During both course days there is ample opportunity to put your own practical questions to the experienced trainer.
What is the difference between Learnit's Payroll Administration course and self-study using the Belastingdienst manuals?
Self-study using the Belastingdienst's Handboek Loonheffingen is free, but you work your way through hundreds of pages of legislation on your own. Learnit's Payroll Administration course You are taught in a classroom setting by an experienced trainer and work with practical examples, including a step-by-step plan for setting up your payroll records and exercises with gross-to-net calculations. Topics such as employee insurance contributions, WIA, Zvw, payroll tax, payroll tax reductions and wage cost benefits are covered in a structured way. You can ask questions about your own situation straight away. Choose self-study if you only need to look something up occasionally; choose the course if you are responsible for the payroll administration and need a workable basis in a short space of time.
How do I know whether this course is enough, or whether I would be better off taking a full payroll administrator programme?
That depends on your role and ambitions. Learnit's Payroll Administration course gives you the basis to set up a payroll administration independently, make gross-net calculations and prepare the payroll tax return. That is enough for business owners, HR staff and finance staff who manage the payroll of a single company. If you want to work as a payroll administrator by profession for several clients, for example at an accountancy firm, a multi-year vocational programme such as PDL or VPS makes more sense. Those go deeper into the application of collective labour agreements, complex case work and employment law. Not sure? Many participants take this course first to see whether the field suits them, before investing in a longer programme.
How up to date is the content of the Payroll Administration course, given the annual changes to tax and social security legislation?
The Payroll Administration course is updated every year to reflect changes to payroll tax, employee insurance contributions, the WIA, the Zvw and the system of allowances and benefits in kind (including the work-related costs scheme). Day 2 includes a standing item, 'Current developments', in which the trainer covers recent legislative changes and changes to rates and threshold amounts. As a result, you will not be given figures from an out-of-date financial year, but the rules and amounts that apply at that moment. Compared with self-study using online manuals, this is an advantage: you receive the explanation in context and can ask questions about your own situation straight away. Do bear in mind that after the course you remain responsible for keeping up with future changes yourself, for example through newsletters from the Belastingdienst.
