What will you learn in the SQL Report Builder course?
You learn to design and format reports independently with Microsoft SQL Report Builder. Topics covered include: retrieving data, designing and formatting reports, adding groups, calculating totals and running totals, integrating charts and exporting reports. You finish with a complex exercise in which you bring everything together.
Who is the SQL Report Builder course suitable for?
The course is intended for data analysts, report builders, BI staff and functional administrators who work with Microsoft SQL Server and want to create their own reports with Report Builder or Reporting Services (SSRS).
What prior knowledge do you need for SQL Report Builder?
Basic knowledge of SQL and databases is recommended, as you will work with queries and datasets during the course. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server is useful, but not a strict requirement.
Do you receive a certificate afterwards?
Yes, on completion you will receive a Learnit certificate of participation. This certificate confirms that you have attended the SQL Report Builder course.
Can you bring your own practical examples to the course?
Yes, we even recommend it. If you have already encountered specific reporting issues in your work, you can bring them along. That way you work directly on situations you recognise and apply what you have learnt straight away.
Is the course material in Dutch?
The course material is in English, because the software and terminology of Report Builder and Reporting Services are also in English. The course itself is given in Dutch.
What is the difference between Report Builder and Reporting Services?
Reporting Services (SSRS) is the broader platform within Microsoft SQL Server with which you publish and manage reports. Report Builder is the standalone design tool with which you build those reports visually. In the training course you get to know and use both.
What kinds of visualisations can you create with SQL Report Builder?
Report Builder offers a wide choice of visualisations: tables, matrices, charts, data bars, sparklines, indicators and maps. In addition, you can use Microsoft's report parts gallery to reuse existing building blocks for new reports.
