5. After the interview

On the same day as the job interview, write a short report of the conversation. Do this objectively first. Note down the questions that were asked. Note down the answers you gave.

Evaluate afterwards and write down honestly how you handled the conversation. Did you stay calm? Did your answers come smoothly? Could you have done anything better? Did you suddenly start tapping with a pen? Did you say 'errr' a lot?

Leave a blank line and now describe what you thought of the interview. How did it go? How did you come across? What was your impression of the company? Does it still seem like a job you would enjoy?

Put a date on the report, along with the name of the company and the person you spoke to, and add it to your p-CV.

Then it is simply a matter of waiting to hear whether you have been taken on. If you are turned down, always ask why. If you were informed by letter, ring the company afterwards and ask for feedback. This is considered perfectly normal. The reason for the rejection allows you to assess whether you presented yourself well or whether there are still points for improvement. Write a short summary of this conversation on paper as well.

We wish you every success with your job applications and much enjoyment in your new job!

If you would like personal feedback, register for our course 'Job application training course' and bring your p-CV with you.
