What do I get from the classroom Brain Training that I cannot get from a book or YouTube video about speed reading and mindmapping?
The difference lies in practising under guidance and receiving immediate feedback. A book tells you how mind mapping or speed reading works. In the classroom course you apply the techniques straight away to your own work material and see what effect they have. You experiment with behaviour, reflect and link theory to your own practice. The trainer corrects your eye movements when speed reading, for example, or helps you structure a mind map for a current project. You also work in a group, which means you practise techniques on recognisable work situations. Self-study gives you knowledge. This course aims at changing behaviour. Choose self-study if you are looking for theoretical depth. Choose this course if you want to internalise concrete techniques. Course material is included.
How do I know whether this brain training course suits me, or would I be better off taking a time management course?
The choice depends on where your problem lies. A time management course focuses on planning, prioritising and managing your diary. This brain training focuses on the cognitive side: how your brain processes, retains and learns information. You are given four concrete techniques: mind mapping to structure information, speed reading to increase your reading speed, memory techniques for names and numbers, and study techniques for concentration and motivation. Choose brain training if you have a lot of reading to get through, need to absorb new knowledge quickly or have to remember complex information. Choose time management if you mainly struggle with your diary, deadlines and tasks. The course is classroom-based. No prior knowledge is required.
