Want to build an intelligent Copilot agent that talks to your company data? In the Copilot Studio for Power Platform course you design, test and publish low-code chatbots that genuinely take work off your hands. You go home with three working agents and an approach you can put to use in your own organisation right away.

Description

In this two-day course you build your own intelligent Copilot agents and chatbots with Microsoft Copilot Studio, the successor to Power Virtual Agents. You work low-code: without programming, you create agents that talk to your company data, connect to Power Automate flows and are published in Microsoft Teams, on websites or within Microsoft 365 Copilot.

You will work hands-on with topics, entities, knowledge sources and generative answers. You will also learn how to call flows from an agent, how to identify users via SSO and how to set up multilingual support, analytics and governance. By the end of the course you will have built and published three working agents: an internal knowledge base assistant, a process agent for leave requests and an external customer service bot.

The course is taught in small groups of up to 8 participants, either in the classroom or online. You can opt for two consecutive days or for a split variant with a week in between for homework. You receive a comprehensive workbook with all project templates, a practice knowledge base and reference material for topics and flows.

Topics

  • Copilot Studio architecture: topics, entities, variables and knowledge sources
  • The relationship with Microsoft 365 Copilot and the wider Power Platform
  • Building an FAQ bot based on your own knowledge base
  • Designing topics with triggers, dialogue paths and conditions
  • Linking knowledge sources: SharePoint, OneDrive and websites
  • Using generative answers: when to do so and when not
  • Calling Power Automate flows from an agent
  • Authentication, SSO and identifying users
  • Fallback paths, escalation and error handling
  • Publishing to Microsoft Teams and as a chat widget on a website
  • Multilingual support and analytics
  • Testing, debugging, governance and performance monitoring

Result

After this training course you can independently build, test and publish Copilot agents in Copilot Studio. You will have delivered three working agents: an FAQ bot based on your own knowledge base, a process agent that handles things such as leave requests or onboarding via Power Automate, and an external customer service agent.

Specifically, by the end you will be able to:

  • Designing topics, triggers and dialogue paths that match real user questions
  • Linking knowledge sources such as SharePoint, OneDrive and websites to an agent
  • Using generative answers purposefully and deliberately choosing when not to
  • Calling Power Automate flows to carry out actions in your backend
  • Identifying users via SSO and working with variables, conditions and fallback paths
  • Publishing agents in Microsoft Teams and as a chat widget on an external website
  • Setting up multilingual support and interpreting analytics
  • Applying governance principles to prevent sprawl and compliance risks

Target audience

The Copilot Studio for Power Platform course is intended for anyone who wants to build intelligent agents and chatbots themselves without programming. You are familiar with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint. Experience with Power Apps or Power Automate is useful, but not a must.

The course is intended for:

  • Power Platform developers and low-code specialists
  • Automation staff and RPA professionals
  • IT staff who want to roll out Copilot in their organisation
  • Knowledge workers who want to automate processes with chatbots
  • Consultants who support Copilot implementations at clients
  • Business analysts who bridge the gap between business and technology

Teaching method

This course is intensive and entirely hands-on. You learn by doing: from the very first hour you are building in Copilot Studio. Short sections of theory alternate with practical assignments in which you immediately apply what you have just seen.

You work in a small group of no more than eight participants, so the trainer has ample time for your questions and your situation. Over the two days you build and publish three different working agents: an internal knowledge base assistant, a process agent for leave requests and an external customer service bot. For the latter you work on a case from your own practice, so that you take away something that ties in with your work.

The training course can be followed in the classroom or online. You receive a comprehensive workbook with all project templates, a knowledge base document to practise with and reference material for topics and flows.

Prior knowledge

You are familiar with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint. Experience with Power Apps or Power Automate is an advantage, but not strictly necessary. You have a Power Apps Developer Plan or a trial environment, so that you can work in a real environment during the course. You do not need programming experience; everything is done low-code in the visual editor of Copilot Studio.

Comments

Bring your own laptop and make sure you have activated a Power Apps Developer Plan or trial environment beforehand. That way you can start building in a real Copilot Studio environment from the very first moment.

In-company

Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.

Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.

Frequently asked questions

You can find the current price at the top right of this course page, along with the schedule, location and delivery format. For in-company or bespoke courses we are happy to provide a quotation on request.

You are familiar with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint at user level. Experience with Power Apps or Power Automate is useful, but not essential. Programming experience is not required; everything is done in the visual low-code editor of Copilot Studio. Do make sure you have activated a Power Apps Developer Plan or trial environment, so that you can build along from the start.

The course is suitable for Power Platform developers, low-code specialists, automation staff, IT professionals and knowledge workers who want to build agents and chatbots themselves. Consultants who handle Copilot implementations for clients will also get plenty out of it. In short: anyone who wants to use AI assistants within the Microsoft ecosystem without depending on developers.

You will learn the complete agent development flow: architecture (topics, entities, knowledge sources), designing dialogue paths, connecting SharePoint and OneDrive, calling Power Automate flows, authentication via SSO, multilingual support and publishing to Teams or an external website. Governance and analytics are also covered, so that you can use Copilot Studio responsibly.

Yes. The course can be followed both in the classroom on location and online via Microsoft Teams. If you take part online, you simply join in the same exercises and have live contact with the trainer and fellow participants. In-company is also possible: in that case we build the programme around your own use cases and Microsoft environment.

Yes, afterwards you receive a Learnit certificate of attendance. This is not an official Microsoft exam certificate, but it is widely recognised in the market as proof that you have acquired the skills. If you want to go on to a Microsoft certification, this course gives you a solid basis for continuing on your own towards PL-400 or PL-500, for example.

You will receive a comprehensive workbook with all the project templates, a knowledge base document to practise with and access to Copilot Studio via your own Power Apps Developer Plan. The delivery format is entirely hands-on: short pieces of theory, immediately followed by building exercises. You work in a group of no more than eight participants, so the trainer can look over your shoulder during every exercise.

Copilot Studio is deeply embedded in the Microsoft ecosystem. You have native connections with SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate and Microsoft 365 Copilot, which makes implementation and management a good deal simpler than with external tools. What's more, your data stays within your own tenant, which keeps compliance and governance simpler. If your organisation already runs on Microsoft, Copilot Studio is usually the logical choice.

You can immediately roll out an FAQ bot based on existing SharePoint documentation, giving your colleagues direct answers instead of them having to contact the helpdesk. You can also build process agents for recurring requests such as leave, onboarding or IT tickets, and automate customer contact via a chat widget on your website. The three agents you build during the course can be used directly as templates in your own environment.

This training course focuses specifically on building Copilot agents and chatbots within Copilot Studio. Courses such as Power Automate, Power Apps or Power BI concentrate on flows, apps or reporting. The Copilot Studio course goes deeper into dialogue design, knowledge sources and generative AI. If you want to master the whole Power Platform, a combination makes sense; if you specifically want to build agents, this course is exactly what you're looking for.

Certainly. Consultants often use the course to speed up Copilot implementations at clients. You learn not only how to build, but also how to advise on when generative answers are sensible, how to set up governance and how to roll out Copilot responsibly in an existing Microsoft environment. You can tailor the practical case you work on to a client issue you are currently dealing with.

Generative answers are powerful, but not always the best choice. You learn when to use a classic dialogue path and when to let the AI answer for itself based on your knowledge sources. We also discuss how to limit hallucinations, which data you should and should not feed an agent, and how to set up governance to prevent sprawl and compliance risks within your tenant. This way you build agents that are both useful and responsible.
