Cheaper alternative - Parking Oosterdok (Oosterdokstraat 150)

The entrance is beneath the Amsterdam Conservatorium. This is at the rear of the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam. On Oosterdokseiland, follow the signs for 'Parking Oosterdok'. From this car park it is about a 10-minute walk to the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. From Parking Oosterdok it is a 10-minute walk. Follow the Annie M.G. Schmidtstraat to the end, as far as the Oosterdoksstraat. Here you turn right until you reach the water and then walk to the left, underneath all the rail, road and tram viaducts. There you can take the steel staircase up and you will come out on the Piet Heinkade. From here you will see the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ on your left.

When should you choose a Delegation course rather than reading a book or taking an online course?
A book or e-learning works fine if you want to understand the theory: what delegating is, what the pitfalls are and which conversation structures you can use. A classroom-based course of is useful when the sticking point is not knowledge but behaviour. Many managers know they should let go, but in practice they do not. In the course you actually practise instructing, transferring responsibility and holding progress and feedback conversations, with direct feedback from a trainer and a maximum of eight participants. You get a sharp picture of your own patterns and pitfalls, something self-study cannot offer. So choose the course if you notice that you keep holding on to tasks, want to break micromanagement behaviour or find it difficult to set clear expectations. For pure theory a book will do; for behavioural change it will not.
How do I know whether the Delegating course suits my situation, and when is it still too early to attend?
The Delegating course suits you if you have a management or coordinating role in which you structurally do too much yourself. Concrete signs: you regularly work overtime because you do not let go of tasks, your staff are not growing as quickly as you would like, or you do not get round to your core strategic tasks. The course is classroom-based with a maximum of eight participants. You work on task selection, conversation techniques, setting clear expectations and the balance between control and trust. It is too early if you are not yet managing a team or staff to whom you can hand over tasks, or if your formal role does not yet allow you to delegate responsibility. In that case, a course in basic management skills or self-management is a better fit.
