In this e-learning course you learn to work with Excel: from data entry, formulas and formatting to charts, filters and pivot tables. Optionally, you are introduced to Copilot in Excel.

  • You master Excel at your own pace
  • From basics to pivot tables in one bundle
  • Optional attention to Copilot in Excel
  • Directly applicable in your daily work
  • Six months' access, anytime and anywhere

With this Excel Basics + Advanced e-learning you become proficient in formulas, tables, charts and pivot tables at your own pace. You work at home or in the office, with 6 months' access. Optionally, you can also cover Excel with Copilot.

Description

In this e-learning you get to know Excel at your own pace and build up your knowledge step by step to an advanced level. You work with two modules full of instructional videos, exercises and additional files, so that you actively master the material. The course also optionally covers working with Copilot in Excel.

You start with the basics: entering data, building formulas, formatting tables and preparing your worksheets neatly for printing. After that you move on to absolute cell references, conditional formatting, charts, filters and pivot tables. This is how you learn to make large amounts of data clear and to analyse them.

You have six months' access to the online platform and can pause and resume the course at any time. Your progress is saved automatically, so you always continue where you left off.

Topics

In this e-learning you will come across the following topics, among others:

  • Discovering Excel and working with workbooks
  • Entering, selecting, copying and pasting data
  • Building formulas and functions
  • Formatting cells and data
  • Page setup and printing
  • Sorting tables and grouping data
  • Absolute cell references and more advanced functions
  • Conditional formatting
  • Creating charts and presenting them attractively
  • Inserting drawing objects and images
  • Working with data lists and subtotals
  • Creating and applying filters
  • Building pivot tables and carrying out analyses
  • Optional: using Excel in combination with Microsoft 365 Copilot

Result

After this e-learning you will work independently with Excel. You enter data and formulas, format tables and charts, and set up the page layout for printing. You manage large tables using sorting and filtering options, and analyse data with pivot tables and subtotals.

You work with absolute cell references, conditional formatting and advanced functions. Optionally, you will also know how to use Microsoft 365 Copilot as an AI assistant in Excel, for example to analyse data or generate formulas.

Target audience

This course is intended for beginners who want to master the basic functions of Excel. Do you already have some basic knowledge? That is a bonus, but not a requirement. You learn to work with formulas, tables, charts and pivot tables at your own pace. Would you also like to discover how Copilot can support you in Excel? You can optionally cover this during the course.

Teaching method

You follow this course entirely online via an e-learning platform. The material consists of short instructional videos, exercises and additional files per topic. You work at your own pace and can rewatch a video as often as you like.

After each topic you complete exercises to test your knowledge. Only once you have sufficient command of a section do you move on to the next. This way you build a solid foundation step by step.

You have 6 months' access to the platform and can pause at any time and continue later. Your progress is saved automatically. You can log in from anywhere with a laptop and an internet connection, without having to install Excel locally.

Prior knowledge

You don't need any prior knowledge of Excel. If you can use a computer and know how to open a program, you can get started straight away. We start with the basics and build things up step by step, so you can progress at your own pace.

Comments

You follow this e-learning entirely at your own pace. Once you have started, you have six months' access to the platform, so you decide when and where you learn. A laptop with an internet connection is all you need.

Frequently asked questions

You have 6 months' access to the e-learning platform from the start date. Each module takes approximately 7 hours to complete, so allow around 14 hours of study time in total. Within those 6 months you set your own pace: you can stop in between and continue later, as your progress is saved automatically.

The total duration is approximately 14 hours, divided into two modules of around 7 hours each. Module 1 consists of 45 instructional videos and 45 exercises, module 2 of 60 instructional videos and 60 exercises. You set your own pace and can stop along the way. Your progress is saved automatically, so you can pick up later where you left off.

No, you do not need any prior knowledge for the Excel Basics + Advanced e-learning. The course is aimed at beginners, possibly with some basic knowledge. You start with the basics (entering data, simple formulas and formatting) and build up step by step to pivot tables, filters and charts. It is useful, though, to be familiar with Windows and with using a mouse and keyboard.

Yes, after successfully completing both modules you receive a certificate of participation from LearnIt. During the e-learning you complete assignments for each topic to test your knowledge. You only move on to the next section once you have sufficient command of the material. This certificate shows that you have mastered the basic and advanced skills of Excel.

Yes, the e-learning optionally covers working with Microsoft 365 Copilot in Excel. You learn how to use the AI assistant to have formulas explained, analyse data and recognise patterns in your tables. This part is an addition to the basics and advanced modules, so that alongside the classic Excel skills you also gain experience with modern AI support.

No, you do not need to install Excel locally. The e-learning runs entirely in the cloud and you log in via a website. A laptop with an internet connection is enough. You can therefore take the course at home, at the office or on the move, without needing the Office suite on your computer.

E-learning suits you best if you want to learn at your own pace, at times that work for you, and don't want to depend on a fixed course day. You get 6 months' access and each module takes around 7 hours to complete. You can stop at any point and continue later, and your progress is saved. A classroom course is the better choice if you place a lot of value on direct interaction with a trainer, want to ask questions about your own work situation, or if you find your perseverance falls short without a fixed lesson time. For larger groups of employees who all need the same foundation at the same time, e-learning is often more cost-effective, particularly with volume discounts on multiple licences.

The Excel Basics + Advanced e-learning offers a structured learning path of 105 instructional videos and 105 assignments, spread over two modules. You work through the topics in a fixed order and can only continue once you have sufficiently mastered the assignments of the previous topic. That is the main difference with YouTube: you get assured progress instead of separate videos without coherence. You work for six months in your own learning environment, with 5 files per module as reference material. The content ranges from entering data and formulas to pivot tables, conditional formatting and filters. On YouTube you have to find your own way and often miss basic concepts such as absolute cell references. Here you build up systematically and know afterwards that you have not skipped anything. A certificate of participation is included as well.

This e-learning course suits you if you want to work independently, at your own pace, and like learning by doing. You get 105 lesson videos spread over two modules, with 105 accompanying assignments that let you apply each topic straight away. You only move on to the next section once you have sufficiently mastered the previous one. That works well if you have the discipline to plan your own schedule and do not need direct interaction with a trainer. Would you prefer fixed lesson times, room to ask a trainer questions and practice in a group? Then choose a classroom version. Are you unsure about your level or would you like to discuss practical situations from your work? In that case a classroom or in-company course is a better choice.

The difference lies in structure and completeness. Microsoft Support and individual blog articles work well if you have a specific problem, but they do not build up from basics to advanced. This e-learning course contains 105 lesson videos and 105 assignments, spread over two modules, which take you through Excel in a logical order: from entering data and formulas to pivot tables, filters and conditional formatting. After each topic you complete an assignment that tests your knowledge. You can only continue once you have mastered the previous section. Trial and error at work leaves blind spots; you often only learn what you happen to come across. With this e-learning course you can be sure that all the basic functionality is covered. Optionally, you also cover Excel in combination with Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Yes. The bundle covers both the basics level and the follow-up level in two modules. Module 1 (45 lesson videos, 45 assignments) focuses on data entry, formulas, formatting and page settings. Module 2 (60 lesson videos, 60 assignments) goes further with absolute cell references, conditional formatting, charts, filters, subtotals and pivot tables. This brings you to the level required in practice for data analysis and reporting. If you then want to go deeper still, for example with macros, advanced functions (INDEX/MATCH, LET, LAMBDA) or Power Query, you can move on to Excel Expert. There is also a combined Excel Basics + Follow-up + Expert e-learning bundle. Each module takes approximately 7 hours to complete and you have 6 months' access.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is the AI assistant in Excel that helps you analyse data, generate formulas and summarise tables in plain language. For example, you type 'create an overview of revenue by region' and Copilot builds the pivot table or chart for you. In this Excel Basics + Advanced e-learning, Copilot is covered optionally as an addition to the regular course material. You learn how to use Copilot for formulas, data analysis and visualisations covered in the basics and advanced modules. Please note: you need a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence in order to use the functionality yourself. The core of the course remains mastering Excel yourself, because without an understanding of the basics you cannot properly assess Copilot's output.
