Target audience

Think of staff who regularly work with figures, lists or reports and want to tackle their work more efficiently with formulas, pivot tables and smart functions. Anyone curious about the optional use of Copilot in Excel will also find this course a good starting point.

Teaching method

You follow this course entirely as e-learning. You work independently through a series of lesson videos, assignments and additional files. After each topic you check your knowledge with an assignment. Only once you have sufficient command of the material do you move on to the next part. In this way you build up your skills step by step.

You log in via an online platform, so there is nothing to install. You can follow the course wherever and whenever it suits you, as long as you have a laptop and internet access. You can always stop part-way through and continue later, as your progress is saved automatically.

You have 6 months' access to the platform and each module takes around 7 hours. Within that period you can review the material as often as you like. Optionally, the course also covers working with Copilot in Excel.

Prior knowledge

You have a command of the basic operations in Excel, such as entering data, using simple formulas and formatting cells. No other specific prior knowledge is needed. A laptop with internet access is all you need to get started.

Comments

You follow this e-learning entirely at your own pace. Once you have started, you have six months' access to the platform, so you can plan at your leisure when to work through the material. Optionally, you can also cover Excel in combination with Copilot.

Frequently asked questions

In the Excel Intermediate + Expert e-learning you learn to apply Excel's more advanced functionality. Think of pivot tables, conditional formatting, nested formulas, array formulas, financial functions, goal seek, scenario management and sharing and protecting workbooks. The bundle consists of two modules with a total of 102 lesson videos and 102 assignments. You work at your own pace and have six months' access.

You have access to the online learning platform for 6 months from the moment you start the e-learning. Each module takes about 7 hours to complete, so you have ample time to work through everything at your own pace. You can stop along the way and continue later, as your progress is saved automatically.

Yes, you need a basic knowledge of Excel. You know how to enter data, create simple formulas and work with worksheets. The course builds on this with advanced functions, pivot tables, nested conditions, array formulas and macros. Not sure about your level? Then the Excel Basics + Advanced + Expert bundle is a better choice for building up from scratch.

Yes, the Excel Advanced + Expert e-learning is aligned with the most recent version of Excel. You work entirely in the cloud, so there is nothing to install. You can log in via an ordinary browser, at home or at the office. The course also optionally covers Excel in combination with Microsoft 365 Copilot, the AI assistant within Excel.

Yes, you follow the Excel Intermediate + Expert e-learning course entirely at your own pace. You have 6 months' access to the online platform and can stop at any time and continue later. Your progress is saved automatically. Each module takes around 7 hours to complete, so you can arrange your study time however it suits you.

Yes, this e-learning optionally covers working with Microsoft 365 Copilot in Excel. You learn how to use the AI assistant to generate formulas, analyse data and build pivot tables more quickly. This part is an addition to the regular material, so you decide for yourself whether to explore it further alongside the advanced and expert functionality.

An e-learning suits you better if you want to learn flexibly and set your own pace. You have 6 months' access to the platform and can start, pause and continue at any moment. Each module takes around 7 hours, spread over 60 lesson videos and 60 assignments (module 2) and 42 lesson videos and 42 assignments (module 3). A classroom course is the better choice if you prefer to ask a trainer questions, value sparring with other participants or need a fixed day in your diary to keep going. For those with self-discipline who want to pick up specific topics (pivot tables, nested conditions, macros), the e-learning is more efficient: you skip what you already know and repeat what remains difficult. After completing the course you can review it for as long as the licence is valid.

A manual is passive reading; this e-learning course uses instructional videos, assignments and knowledge tests that only let you continue once you have mastered the previous topic. Module 2 contains 60 instructional videos, 60 assignments and 5 files with additional information. Module 3 contains 42 instructional videos, 42 assignments and 5 files. So you practise directly in Excel itself, instead of only reading how something works. Each module takes around 7 hours to complete, and you have 6 months' access to work through everything at your own pace. A book often covers the breadth of a subject, but gives no feedback on your work. This e-learning course does, because your assignments are checked before you move on to the next topic.

This e-learning is intended for two profiles. The first profile is the user who has mastered the basics (cells, simple formulas, formatting) and wants to progress to pivot tables, conditional formatting, charts and filters. That is module 2. The second profile is the advanced user who is ready for nested conditions, array formulas, financial functions, goal seek, scenario management and macros. That is module 3. The course is less suitable if you still find it difficult to enter basic formulas or cell references, as the pace moves past that quickly. If you work in Excel every day as a finance officer, data analyst, controller or project officer, the topics tie in well with practical tasks such as building reports, cleaning up data and sharing workbooks.

That depends on how you combine the e-learning with your daily work. Each module takes around 7 hours to complete, and this bundle contains two modules: some 14 hours of material in total, spread across 102 lesson videos and 102 exercises. If you set aside half a day each week, you will work through the material in 4 to 6 weeks. Applying it in practice goes faster if you open one of your own work files straight after a module and put the technique to use, for example building a PivotTable on real sales data or writing a nested IF formula. You have 6 months' access, so you can revisit topics whenever you need them. Compared with a two-day classroom course you learn more slowly here, but with more repetition and a direct link to your own work.

Yes, as long as your licence is valid you can review the course and take it again. You have six months' access to the platform from the start date. Within that period you can look up individual lesson videos and revisit specific topics, for example if you need to build a pivot table or a nested IF formula at work and have forgotten the steps. Module 2 contains 60 lesson videos and module 3 contains 42 lesson videos, all divided by topic. As a result, in practice the course also works as a reference guide. A printed manual is static; here you see and hear the actions, and you can follow along straight away in your own Excel file. Bear in mind that access expires after the licence period, so do download your notes yourself if you want to keep them.

Copilot for Excel is covered as an optional part of the Excel Intermediate + Expert e-learning. You learn how to use the AI assistant in Excel to generate formulas, recognise patterns in data, set up pivot tables more quickly and obtain summaries of large workbooks. This is of practical use as soon as you work with Microsoft 365 and have a Copilot licence. Without that licence, the modules on formulas, pivot tables, scenarios and macros remain fully usable. The Copilot sections do not replace the classic Excel skills, they supplement them. So you first learn to understand for yourself what a VLOOKUP or a nested IF function does, and then how Copilot can speed you up. That distinction matters: anyone who relies on Copilot alone without grasping the logic will get stuck on more complex models.
