What participants say about Peer Supervision: learning with and from each other

Peer Supervision course: learning with and from each other: average 8.5 from 18 reviews

“The content was extremely instructive. My aim was to learn how to run a peer supervision session myself. I still find it daunting, but I have gained so much to draw on that I feel confident and dare to deliver a course myself. The trainer is very experienced and has broad knowledge of peer supervision techniques and of the human psyche. The trainer added great value; thanks to her way of working these were two fantastic days. Days with a golden edge. It feels like a gift to yourself.”

“There was enough variety in the course and the content was handled flexibly. Nothing was covered simply because it 'had to be'. The trainer clearly knows her subject. She was able to explain everything well and clearly so that everyone understood it. Nor did she move on to another topic if someone was not yet entirely clear. She also gave me as a participant the confidence to apply what I had learnt myself during the course.”

“I thought the two-day peer supervision course via Zoom was a great success. I was sceptical about Zoom at first, but I was very surprised at how well the trainer had prepared this course by first making personal contact to establish learning objectives and putting together a really good tailor-made course. The trainer is very professional, gets her knowledge across well and adapts, steers and connects. The diversity of the participants made it great fun and there was a lot of exchange. Everyone wanted to get as much out of it as possible. I would definitely take a course with this organisation again.”

“Even if you are already an experienced peer consultation facilitator, it is certainly worth adding this course to your toolbox. Good to pause and consider the theory and to realise where your points for improvement as a facilitator lie.”

“I was given plenty of practical tools for facilitating peer supervision, and for daring to keep asking until you get to the heart of what is difficult. There were also tips on preparing and structuring a peer supervision session, very useful. And I even came away with 20 different methods to try out. Excellent! What appealed to me most was that the trainer went into the 'depth', so that the real questions came to the surface. That is often hard to uncover during peer supervision. I also noticed that the trainer responded to what was happening in the group. That made the course 'tailor-made'.”

“The course is short but powerful for learning everything about peer consultation. From start to finish you learn how to plan a peer consultation meeting. From logistics to depth and content. Everything is covered. I now feel far more confident about offering peer consultation in a good and pleasant way for my work. I attach a lot of value to that.”

Frequently asked questions about Peer Consultation: learning with and from each other in-company

Where does the in-company course Peer Consultation: learning with and from each other take place?

Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.

Can the content be tailored to our organisation?

Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.

How large can the group be?

That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.

What does Peer Consultation: learning with and from each other in-company cost?

You get a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quote. For a group this works out cheaper than booking everyone individually. For comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs EUR 1250,- excl. VAT per participant.

Can the course be delivered in English?

Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.

Do participants receive a certificate?

Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.

How do I request a quote?

Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.

Who is the Peer Consultation course suitable for and what prior knowledge do you need?
The Intervision course is suitable for anyone who wants to facilitate or set up an intervision group within a team or organisation. Think of team leaders, HR professionals, coaches and employees who want to help colleagues learn from each other's experiences. No prior knowledge is required: you do not need experience with intervision or coaching. An open, reflective attitude and the wish to improve communication and group processes are enough.
How large is the group on the Peer Consultation course and what is the approach?
The group for the Intervision course consists of a maximum of eight participants, so that there is enough room for personal attention and interaction. An intake takes place beforehand in which the trainer identifies your learning objectives. The programme is active in nature: you learn by doing and experiencing in a safe training atmosphere, spread across classroom sessions.
Which topics are covered during the Intervision course?
During the Peer Consultation course you cover, among other things, the role of the peer consultation facilitator, different peer consultation methods and formats, formulating the question behind the question, conversation techniques, constructive confrontation and giving and receiving feedback. You also learn to reflect on the process, to break free from entrenched patterns of thinking and to draw up a concrete action plan.
Do you receive a certificate after Learnit's Intervision course?
Yes, after completing the course Peer Supervision: learning with and from each other, you will receive a certificate of participation from Learnit. This shows that you have taken the course and gained the skills to set up and facilitate a peer supervision group. The certificate is a valuable addition to your professional development and CV.
Can you also take the Peer Supervision course in-company at Learnit?
Yes, the course Peer Supervision: learning with and from each other is also available in-company. You then take the course with your own team at a location of your choice, so that you work directly with recognisable cases from your own working practice. The programme is tailored to your team's learning objectives. The course is delivered in a classroom format and the duration is adapted to your team's requirements.
When should you choose Learnit's Intervision course instead of starting an intervision group with colleagues yourself?
Starting on your own works perfectly well if your team already has experience with structured reflection and someone naturally takes on the facilitator role. In practice, a self-organised peer consultation group often gets stuck on three points: unclear working questions, superficial feedback and a facilitator who joins the discussion too much instead of safeguarding the process. The Learnit course focuses on exactly those points. You practise with various peer consultation methods (such as the incident method and the gossip method), learn to formulate the question behind the question and are given tools for constructive confrontation. You also experience peer consultation yourself in a group of no more than eight participants, so that you know how it feels before you start facilitating. Choose the course if you are going to be responsible for setting up or facilitating peer consultation within your organisation. You will find the costs on the course page.
What is the difference between Learnit's Peer Consultation course and a Coaching Leadership or Giving Feedback course?
The Peer Consultation course focuses specifically on facilitating structured learning conversations between colleagues on an equal footing. You learn to apply different peer consultation methods, to formulate the real question behind the question and to reflect on the group process. A Coaching Leadership course deals with the one-to-one relationship between manager and employee, with a focus on steering and development. A Giving Feedback course mainly covers conversation techniques at individual level. Peer consultation combines elements of both, but adds something: facilitating a group of colleagues who support each other, without hierarchy. You are given practical tools to set up and facilitate a peer consultation group yourself within your organisation. Choose Peer Consultation if you want to facilitate collective learning in teams rather than individual coaching.
How do I know whether I am ready to facilitate a peer consultation group after Learnit's Peer Consultation course?
You are ready to facilitate a peer consultation group if, after the course (per person, classroom-based), you can maintain the basic structure of a peer consultation session, formulate a working question clearly and apply conversation techniques such as probing and constructive confrontation. During the course you practise in a peer consultation group of no more than eight participants, so you experience the facilitator's role in practice. For straightforward peer consultation within a safe team, that is generally enough. For complex group dynamics or heavily charged cases, additional experience or a coaching background is advisable. The course gives you the framework and the formats; you build up routine by facilitating sessions yourself within your own organisation.
