As a project manager you want to be in control of your project and your team. In you work on the competencies, planning techniques and personal skills required to do so. You prepare specifically for the official IPMA-D exam.
Description
In the IPMA-D course you work on the competencies and personal skills you need as a project manager. You learn all about the general management activities involved in a project: setting project objectives, assembling and leading a project team, project phasing and project control. You also work on planning, structuring and project communication.
You develop the skills you need as a project manager: listening, organising, taking the initiative at the right moment, an eye for detail and a helicopter view. You also learn to anticipate problems, communicate clearly and delegate effectively. The course prepares you specifically for the official exam for IPMA-D Certificering Nederland.
Topics
The IPMA-D course covers the following topics:
Day 1. Project management: a sound basis
- Introduction to project management: setting objectives, phasing, control and decision-making
- Control factors: time, money and quality
- The difference between a project organisation and a line organisation
- Setting up a project: project models, structures and methods
Day 2. Leadership and the project team
- Project team: leadership, team building and communication
- Interaction with the client and team members
Day 3. Project planning and execution
- Project planning: techniques such as CPM, PERT and Gantt
- Work Breakdown Structure (WBS): breaking down project activities
- Working in project teams
Day 4. Exam preparation
Result
After the IPMA-D course you know which personal skills a good project manager needs and you are familiar with the phases of a project and your role in each phase. You recognise the control factors time, money and quality, and you know what distinguishes a project organisation from a line organisation.
You can apply various project models, structures and methods, and you work with planning techniques such as CPM, PERT and Gantt. With a Work Breakdown Structure you break project activities down into manageable parts. You also give your project team purposeful direction during delivery and keep the client, team members and other stakeholders clearly informed of progress.
And you will be well prepared for the official IPMA-D Certification Netherlands exam.
Target audience
The IPMA-D course is intended for project staff who want to start leading projects themselves and for starting project managers without concrete project experience. Are you already working on projects and would you like to move up to a project manager role? Then this course is a good next step.
The course is theoretical in nature and prepares you for the official exam for IPMA-D Certification Netherlands. If you are looking for a more practice-oriented course, our Project Leadership course is probably a better fit.
Teaching method
During the IPMA-D course you alternate theory with practical exercises and assignments. You work actively with project management models, planning techniques and real-life cases. The experienced trainer explains the material, answers your questions and gives you personal feedback.
You work in a small group, so there is ample scope for interaction and for exchanging experiences with other participants. Day four focuses on targeted exam preparation, in which you practise with exam questions and prepare for the official IPMA-D exam.
You receive the course materials in advance so that you can prepare properly. Afterwards you receive a Learnit certificate of participation.
Prior knowledge
You do not need any specific prior knowledge for this course. Some affinity with working on projects or experience as a project team member is useful, but not a requirement. You learn all the basic concepts of project management step by step during the course.
