As a Green Belt you work on multidisciplinary improvement projects in which you manage costs, lead times and quality at the same time. You learn to apply the Lean and Six Sigma toolbox in such a way that improvements land properly first time.

Description

During this seven-day course you build on your Orange Belt knowledge and go deeper into the DMAIC structure. You learn how to select a project, translate customer requirements into measurable objectives and use statistical analysis to bring the real causes of variation and waste to light.

A large part of the course revolves around change management, because technique alone does not bring improvement. You learn to recognise resistance, create support and bring colleagues along in a process that affects the way they work. You practise putting together and leading project teams and facilitating workshops.

On the final day you prepare for the Green Belt exam using a realistic practical case. The exam fee is included in the course.

Topics

  • DMAIC structure: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control
  • Lean Thinking and Womack's five principles
  • Types of waste and sources of variation
  • Value Stream Mapping and process analysis
  • Statistical analysis as a basis for decision-making
  • Investigating problems qualitatively and quantitatively
  • Initiating, piloting and implementing improvements
  • Embedding results with control plans
  • Putting together and managing project teams
  • Facilitating workshops for project staff
  • Change management and dealing with resistance
  • Exam preparation and simulations based on a practical case

Result

After this course you have mastered the complete Lean Six Sigma toolbox and know which instrument to use at which moment. You lead process improvement projects independently using the DMAIC structure, analyse problems both qualitatively and quantitatively, and translate statistical analyses into concrete actions. You create support, remove resistance and embed improvements in the organisation. You can also support Black Belt projects, run workshops for project staff, and you are well prepared for the Green Belt exam that you sit at the end of the course.

Target audience

This course is intended for project managers, process managers and change managers who want to lead complex, multidisciplinary improvement projects. The course follows on from the Lean Six Sigma Orange Belt and is suitable for anyone who wants to take a leading role in continuous improvement within their own organisation.

Teaching method

You work in a small group with an experienced trainer with a practical background. Theory and exercises alternate and you apply the material directly to cases that resemble your own working situation. On the final day you work out a complete practical case and sit the exam.

Prior knowledge

You have completed the Lean Six Sigma Orange Belt or have comparable basic knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma.

In-company

Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.

Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.

Language

The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.

Frequently asked questions

A Green Belt is a professional who independently leads Lean Six Sigma improvement projects within an organisation. You have a command of the DMAIC structure, can analyse processes using statistical tools and know how to embed improvements sustainably. A Green Belt usually works on multidisciplinary projects and also supports Black Belts on larger projects.

The Orange Belt gives you a solid grounding in Lean Six Sigma and focuses on contributing to and carrying out improvement projects. The Green Belt goes a step further: you learn to lead complex projects independently, go deeper into statistical analysis and devote considerable attention to change management. The Green Belt is therefore the logical follow-up to the Orange Belt.

The course consists of seven course days. Day 1 refreshes your basic knowledge, day 2 focuses on Lean Thinking, days 3 to 6 go deeper into the Six Sigma project structure, and on day 7 you follow an exam preparation session and sit the exam.

Yes, the exam fee is included in the course price. You sit the exam on the final course day, after a practice-based case and simulations that prepare you for the exam questions.

You have completed the Lean Six Sigma Orange Belt or have comparable basic knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma. A basic understanding of DMAIC, waste and simple statistics will help you to pick up the material at Green Belt level straight away.

DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. It is the standard project structure within Six Sigma, with which you work through an improvement project step by step: from defining the scope of the problem to embedding the solution. In the Green Belt you learn to carry out each phase independently.

The course is suitable for project managers, process managers, quality managers and change managers who want to lead complex improvement projects. Professionals who take a leading role in continuous improvement within their organisation will also get a great deal out of this course.

You will receive a Learnit certificate of attendance. In addition, you sit the Green Belt exam on the final day. If your result is satisfactory, you will receive the corresponding Green Belt certificate.

You learn how to recognise and remove resistance within your organisation, how to create support for process improvements and how to get colleagues on board in projects that affect the way they work. Change management runs as a common thread through the entire course, because improvements only last if the organisation comes along.

Yes, this course is also available as an in-company programme. We then tailor the content and cases to your own organisation and processes, so that your colleagues work with situations they recognise straight away. Contact us for a tailored quotation.

Lean focuses on eliminating waste and speeding up the lead time of a process. Six Sigma focuses on reducing variation and improving quality with the help of statistical analysis. In the Green Belt you learn to combine both worlds, so that you manage speed and quality at the same time.

You can find the current price at the top right of this course page, along with the schedule, location and delivery format. For in-company or bespoke courses we are happy to provide a quotation on request.
