Having meetings summarised, action points extracted automatically and finding the right chat again in no time. In the Teams with Copilot course you learn how to use Microsoft Copilot to make your work in Teams noticeably lighter. You work in your own environment and practise with scenarios you will recognise straight away.

Description

Copilot in Teams is more than a button that produces minutes. It is an assistant that follows your meetings, reads along in your chats and thinks along with you about your documents. During the course you will discover what Copilot can and cannot do, and how to get the most out of it in practice.

You start with meeting Copilot. You learn how to have meetings summarised automatically, extract action points and decisions, and ask open questions during a meeting, such as 'what is my position so far?' or 'what was Sanne's objection?'. Joining late? Then you can ask Copilot in a matter of seconds what you have missed.

You will then get to work with chat Copilot and Whiteboard Copilot. You will search chats and channels using natural language, discuss documents live and use Copilot to set up team and channel structures logically. The integration with Planner, To Do and Loop is also covered.

Finally, you consider privacy, compliance and governance. Who sees which meeting data? How do you set retention? And how do you make sure sensitive conversations do not end up in the wrong summaries? You go home with a workbook containing 15 prompts for meeting management.

Topics

  • Copilot in Teams: meeting Copilot, chat Copilot and Whiteboard Copilot
  • Automatic meeting summaries, minutes, action points and decisions
  • 'What did I miss?': using Copilot when you join late
  • Asking open questions during a meeting about your own contribution or that of colleagues
  • Searching chats and channels using natural language
  • Discussing and summarising documents live with Copilot
  • Privacy, compliance and governance around meeting data
  • Designing team and channel structures with the help of Copilot
  • Live co-editing in documents during meetings

  • Working on your own case with a recorded meeting
  • Retention, sensitive conversations and governance settings

Result

After the course you will get noticeably more out of Microsoft Teams with Copilot. You save time on minutes and follow-up, you find information more quickly and you work more deliberately with an AI assistant that follows along in your meetings and chats.

Specifically, by the end you will be able to:

  • Have meetings summarised automatically with clear minutes, action points and decisions
  • Ask Copilot what was discussed if you join late or have missed a meeting
  • Asking Copilot open questions during a meeting about your own contributions or colleagues' viewpoints
  • Search chats and channels using natural language and quickly retrieve the right messages
  • Have documents summarised and improved live during a meeting
  • Using Copilot to set up teams, channels and collaboration
  • Getting Copilot to work with Planner, To Do and Loop for following up on actions
  • Applying privacy and governance settings correctly to sensitive meetings

Target audience

The course is intended for anyone who has a lot of meetings in Microsoft Teams and wants to halve the turnaround time for minutes, action points and follow-up. You work with Teams on a daily basis, have a basic knowledge of channels, chats and meetings, and have Microsoft 365 with a Copilot licence (or you work in our test environment).

The course is intended for:

  • Employees and specialists with many daily meetings
  • Managers and team leaders who want a grip on decisions and follow-up
  • Project leaders who want to turn actions from meetings into tasks quickly
  • Consultants and advisers who want to summarise client conversations
  • Secretaries and management assistants who manage diaries and minutes
  • Communications and HR professionals who attend a lot of meetings

Teaching method

The course is entirely practice-based. You work in your own Teams environment with an active Copilot licence (or in our test environment) and practise straight away on realistic scenarios from your own working day.

The trainer alternates short explanations with hands-on exercises. You learn by doing: having a previously recorded meeting summarised, extracting action points, searching chats using natural language and having Copilot comment on documents live. In the afternoon you bring in a challenge from your own team, which you solve together with the trainer and the other participants.

The group stays small (a maximum of 8 participants), so there is ample room for questions and individual guidance. You can take part on location or online. Afterwards you will receive a workbook with 15 prompts for meeting management and a template for a decisions overview, so you can apply what you have learnt directly in your daily work.

Prior knowledge

You work with Microsoft Teams on a daily basis and know the basics: chatting, meeting, using channels and sharing files. You have a Microsoft 365 account with an active Copilot licence, or you work in our test environment during the course. Experience with AI tools is useful, but not required.

Comments

Bring your own laptop with a working Copilot licence, or indicate when registering that you will be using our test environment. That way you can practise straight away in your familiar working environment.

“Learnit is a professional organisation; I have personally made use of the courses offered to me several times and in various ways. I have got a lot out of them personally, and I still apply part of it in practice every day. Importantly, Learnit does not stop after a day's training, but continues to give the client the attention they need in the period afterwards.”

What does the Teams with Copilot course cost?

You can find the current price at the top right of this course page, along with the schedule, location and delivery format. For in-company or bespoke courses we are happy to provide a quotation on request.

What prior knowledge do I need for the Teams with Copilot course?

You work with Microsoft Teams on a daily basis and know the basics: chatting, meeting, working with channels and sharing files. Experience with AI tools is not required, as we build up all Copilot features from scratch during the course.

Who is the Teams with Copilot course intended for?

The course is intended for anyone who has a lot of meetings in Teams and wants to save time on minutes, action points and follow-up. Think of employees, managers, project leaders, consultants, secretaries and management assistants who have several meetings every day.

Which Copilot features in Teams are covered?

You learn to work with meeting Copilot, chat Copilot and Whiteboard Copilot. Specifically: summarising meetings, extracting action points and decisions, asking open questions during meetings, searching chats using natural language, discussing documents live and linking Copilot to Planner, To Do and Loop.

Can I also take the Teams with Copilot course online or in-company?

Yes, you can choose between classroom training at our location in Amsterdam or live online via Microsoft Teams. For teams and organisations we also provide in-company courses, in which we tailor the programme to your own working methods and Copilot configuration.

Do I receive a certificate afterwards?

Yes, on completion of the course you receive a certificate of participation from Learnit. You also take away a workbook with 15 worked-out prompts that you can use directly in your own Teams environment.

What do the teaching methods and course materials look like?

The course is entirely practice-oriented. Short pieces of explanation alternate with hands-on exercises in your own Microsoft 365 environment or in our test environment. You practise on realistic scenarios such as a recorded meeting, a busy chat and an ongoing project. The group stays small, a maximum of 8 participants, allowing for plenty of personal guidance.

Why take a course if I can also discover Copilot by trial and error?

You can certainly try it out yourself, but most users make use of no more than 20% of what Copilot in Teams can do. During the course you receive targeted prompts, practical scenarios and tips that are hard to find on your own by searching. You also cover governance and privacy, two topics that are easily overlooked when studying on your own.

Can I apply what I have learned directly in my work?

Yes. During the course you work in your own environment and practise on your own calendar, chats and documents. Many participants apply the first prompts the very next working day, for example by having their next meeting summarised automatically or by searching a chat channel for earlier decisions.

What is the difference from the general Microsoft 365 Copilot course at Learnit?

The general Microsoft 365 Copilot course takes a broad look at Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams. The Teams with Copilot course focuses specifically on collaboration around meetings, chats and team channels. Do you mainly work in Teams? Then you are in the right place. Would you like a broad introduction to all the Office apps? Then the general Copilot course is a better fit.

Is the course also suitable for management assistants and secretaries?

Certainly. Assistants and secretaries who manage diaries, minutes and follow-up get a great deal out of this course. You will learn, for example, how to have your manager's meetings summarised automatically, how to extract action points neatly from a long conversation and how to quickly find the right chat again for a client query.

What about privacy and governance when using Copilot in Teams?

Privacy and governance receive explicit attention. You learn who can see which meeting data, how to shield sensitive conversations, what happens to recordings and summaries, and how to apply retention settings correctly. This way you know exactly when Copilot can be used and when you should deliberately put the brakes on.
