“I really enjoyed the WordPress course. It was my first introduction to web design and thanks to trainer Mike I learned a lot of new things in just a few days. I am now able to build a simple, attractive website. Of course I still have plenty to learn in practice. The Learnit course was an excellent start for me.”

Frequently asked questions about WordPress in-company

Where does the in-company WordPress course take place?

Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.

Can the content be tailored to our organisation?

Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.

How large can the group be?

That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.

What does WordPress in-company cost?

You receive a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quotation. For a group this works out cheaper than booking everyone individually. For comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs EUR 1575,- excl. VAT per participant.

Can the course be delivered in English?

Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.

Do participants receive a certificate?

Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.

How do I request a quote?

Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.

Do I need any prior knowledge for the WordPress course?
No, you do not need any technical prior knowledge for the WordPress course. Basic experience with computers and the internet is sufficient. You do not need to be able to program in HTML, CSS or PHP. During the course you learn step by step how to build a complete website, from installation to adding plug-ins such as Yoast SEO, WooCommerce and UpdraftPlus. Ideal if you want to start from scratch.
Do I receive a certificate after the WordPress course?
Yes, after completing the WordPress course you receive a certificate of participation. This certificate confirms that you have attended the full course, including setting up a website, working with themes and plug-ins such as Yoast SEO and WooCommerce, and managing your site. In addition, you can contact your trainer with any questions after the course.
Which topics are covered during the WordPress course?
During the WordPress course you learn to build a complete website from scratch. You cover installing WordPress, working with themes, adding pages, posts and media, and setting up menus. Plug-ins such as Yoast SEO, Ninja Forms, WP Super Cache, WooCommerce and UpdraftPlus are also covered, so that you can set up a professional site and webshop.
Can you work on your own laptop during the WordPress course?
Yes, during the WordPress course you may work on your own laptop or use a laptop from Learnit Training. Working on your own device has the advantage that your familiar environment is set up straight away, including a local web server (MAMP or XAMPP) and a WordPress installation. That way you take a working test environment home with you after the training course.
Is the WordPress course classroom-based or online?
Learnit's WordPress course is a classroom course. You follow the lessons on location in a small group under the guidance of an experienced trainer. Because of the classroom setting you get direct feedback, you can ask questions and you practise together with other participants. The costs include course materials, coffee, tea and lunch.
What do I learn in Learnit's WordPress course that I cannot simply get from YouTube tutorials?
In Learnit's classroom WordPress course you build a complete site under supervision, from a local test environment (MAMP or XAMPP) to a working production site with a webshop. You learn how to operate the controls and, in addition, how to make structural choices: which theme suits your purpose, which plug-ins are reliable, how to set up SEO with Yoast, build forms with Ninja Forms, set up a webshop with WooCommerce and arrange backups with UpdraftPlus. The difference with standalone videos: a trainer looks over your shoulder, corrects mistakes immediately and provides context for your choices. You can also approach the trainer with questions afterwards. Choose self-study if you mainly want to experiment; choose this course if you want to deliver within a working site and understand why you do what you do.
Which type of user is this WordPress course suitable for, and when is another solution the better choice?
Learnit's WordPress course is suitable for freelancers, marketers, communications staff, entrepreneurs and private individuals who want to build and maintain a professional website or web shop themselves. You learn both the technical basics (local test environment, database, hosting) and how to structure the content (themes, pages, menus, plug-ins such as Yoast SEO, Ninja Forms and WooCommerce). The course is less suitable if all you need is a one-page online business card. In that case, an off-the-shelf website builder is cheaper. And if you want to build a complex bespoke application with custom PHP development, this course is too basic; you would be looking for a development project. If you want to be able to set up a working WordPress site or web shop that you can manage yourself, without depending on an agency, then this course is a good fit.
After this course, can I build and maintain a WordPress website for a client on my own, or will I still need a developer?
After the course you can independently set up, configure and maintain a complete WordPress site, including a webshop via WooCommerce. You learn the entire process: choosing a domain and hosting, setting up a local test environment with MAMP or XAMPP, installing WordPress, adjusting themes, managing content and menus, and configuring essential plug-ins such as Yoast SEO, Ninja Forms, WP Super Cache and UpdraftPlus for back-ups. For standard business sites and blogs you will not need a developer afterwards. For bespoke work in PHP, custom theme development or complex integrations with external systems you will need additional knowledge. That falls outside this course. If you work for clients, you can continue to contact the trainer afterwards if you run into problems.
