Would you like to build your own website or webshop with WordPress? In this course you go from a blank screen to a professional, working site. You learn how to install and set up WordPress, fill it with content and extend it with plug-ins such as Yoast SEO and WooCommerce.
Description
In this WordPress course you learn step by step how to build, maintain and keep a professional website or blog up to date. You start by setting up a local test environment, in which you install WordPress and can freely experiment with themes, plug-ins and updates before putting everything live.
You work on configuring your site, organising categories, publishing posts and pages and adding images, video and a navigation menu. You also gain insight into essential plug-ins for SEO, forms, back-ups and caching. In addition, you discover how to use WooCommerce to link a sales module to your website with payment options such as iDEAL and PayPal, so that your site can easily be expanded into a fully fledged web shop.

Result
After this training course you can independently build a professional WordPress website or blog, from an empty installation to a fully set-up site. You set up a local test environment, install WordPress and configure your dashboard as you wish.
You work with themes, child themes and premium themes, and know which plug-ins to choose for SEO (Yoast), forms (Ninja Forms), caching (WP Super Cache) and back-ups (UpdraftPlus). You fill your site with pages, posts, categories, images, video and menus, and link widgets to social media.
You will also build a complete webshop with WooCommerce, including payment options such as iDEAL and PayPal. That way you can maintain your site independently after the course and keep it up to date.
Target audience
This training course is intended for anyone who wants to set up their own website or blog, for business or private purposes, or wants to do so for others. You learn all the skills you need to build and maintain a professional WordPress site. Prior knowledge of programming is not required; basic computer and internet skills are sufficient.
Teaching method
In this course you build a complete WordPress website step by step. You start with a local test environment on your own laptop, so you can experiment freely with themes, plug-ins and settings before going live.
Your trainer alternates short explanations with practical exercises on the laptop. This way you apply each element straight away: from installing WordPress to setting up a webshop with WooCommerce and optimising for search engines with Yoast SEO. Because you work in small groups, you receive personal guidance and have room to ask questions about your own project.
After the course you can contact your trainer if you run into problems. Course materials, coffee, tea and lunch are included, and you finish with a certificate of participation.
Prior knowledge
You do not need any specific prior knowledge to take part. If you can handle a computer and enjoy getting to work on a website, you are in the right place. Experience with HTML or programming is useful, but certainly not a requirement.

During the course you work in a current WordPress environment. We use up-to-date tools such as a local web server (MAMP or XAMPP), the block editor and widely used plug-ins such as Yoast SEO, WooCommerce, Ninja Forms and UpdraftPlus. You can take the course on your own laptop or on a Learnit laptop.

The course is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer speaks English. English-language course materials can be used. If at least 3 participants register, the course can also be given entirely in English.

Can I cancel free of charge?
Yes. Up to four weeks before the first day of the course you can cancel free of charge, without giving a reason. You then receive a credit note or, if you have already paid, a refund. If you cancel later, you pay part of the course fee: 25% between four and two weeks before the start, 75% in the two weeks before it and 100% in the final week. Moving to another start date is free of charge up to two weeks before the start, after that 50%. Sending a colleague in your place is always possible. Read the cancellation terms.
