Description

In this e-learning you get to know Outlook and learn both the basics and the more advanced features. You work at your own pace through video lessons and assignments, from any location with a laptop and an internet connection.

The course consists of three modules. In the first module you work with email messages, attachments, signatures, rules and contacts. The second module covers the calendar, appointments, meetings, tasks and notes. In the third module you go deeper into the Outlook environment, personalising the ribbon and managing folders and windows.

For each topic you complete exercises that let you test your knowledge straight away. Only once you have sufficient command of a section do you move on to the next. You have nine months' access to the platform and can pause the course at any time and resume it later.

Optionally, this course also covers working with Microsoft 365 Copilot in Outlook, so that you can see how to use this AI assistant for your day-to-day email and calendar management.

Have you opted for the optional Copilot section? Then you will also use AI to compose and answer emails more quickly and to summarise your inbox.

Target audience

This e-learning course is intended for anyone who wants to get to know the functionality of Outlook or expand their knowledge. Whether you are just starting out with email in a business environment or already have experience and want to discover the more advanced possibilities: you work at your own pace towards a complete command of Outlook.

Teaching method

You follow this course entirely as an e-learning. You work at your own pace via an online platform with video lessons, assignments and additional reference documents. For each topic you first watch the explanation and then practise yourself. You only move on to the next topic once you have a sufficient grasp of the material.

You have access to the platform for 9 months from the start and can stop at any time and continue later. Your progress is saved automatically and can also be viewed by your manager on request. The course optionally covers working with Copilot in Outlook.

Prior knowledge

You don't need any specific prior knowledge to start this e-learning course. Basic computer skills and experience with Windows are useful. Beyond that, the course takes you through step by step, from the basics to the more advanced features of Outlook.

Comments

You take this course entirely online via e-learning. You get nine months' access to the platform and set your own pace. Per module you spend an average of 7 hours on lesson videos and exercises. Working with Copilot in Outlook is optionally covered as well.

In this Outlook e-learning course you learn all the features of Outlook, from basics to expert. Across three modules you cover email, calendar, contacts, tasks, rules, managing folders and personalising the Outlook environment. You work with 61 instructional videos and 61 assignments. You get 9 months' access and each module takes about 7 hours to work through.

You have 9 months' access to the online learning platform from the moment you start the e-learning course. Each module takes about 7 hours to work through, so allow around 21 hours for the three modules together. You can pause at any time and continue later, as your progress is saved automatically.

No, no prior knowledge is required. The e-learning course starts with the basics of Outlook and builds up step by step to advanced and expert topics. You begin with reading and sending messages, move on to the calendar and tasks, and finish with settings such as personalising the ribbon and importing folders. For each topic you complete an assignment, so that you only move on once you have mastered the material.

Yes, you follow the Outlook e-learning entirely at your own pace. You have 9 months' access to the platform and can start, pause and continue at any time. Your progress is saved automatically. Each module takes around 7 hours to complete, so you decide for yourself how many sessions you need to work through the material.

Yes, the e-learning optionally covers Microsoft 365 Copilot in Outlook. You learn how to use the AI assistant to summarise emails, draft messages and manage your inbox more quickly. This element supplements the Basics, Advanced and Expert modules, so that you also learn to use Outlook intelligently with Copilot.

Yes, after successfully completing the Outlook Basics, Advanced and Expert e-learning course you receive a certificate of participation. For each module you complete the instructional videos, the assignments and the final test. You take the test in one go; your progress is saved along the way. The certificate shows that you have mastered the basic, advanced and expert functionality of Outlook.

The e-learning makes sense if you want to learn flexibly, at your own pace and at a time that suits you. You have nine months' access to the platform and can pause and resume the course as often as you like. Each module takes roughly 7 hours, so allow around 21 hours in total for the three modules together. A classroom course is a better choice if you have questions you want to discuss directly with a trainer, or if you want to learn alongside a group of colleagues. The e-learning suits independent learners and organisations that want to train larger groups of staff. For migration projects with many participants, a volume discount is also negotiable. If you're unsure, request advice with no obligation.

The difference lies in structure, completeness and interaction. YouTube tutorials are individual videos without a fixed learning path. You do not know whether you have really mastered a topic and you often miss advanced features. This e-learning contains 61 lesson videos and 61 assignments, spread across three modules (basics, advanced and expert). After each topic you complete an assignment; you only move on once you have sufficiently mastered the material. This way you build up knowledge systematically, from messages and attachments to rules, calendar management, tasks and personalising the ribbon. You have 9 months' access and can repeat sections for as long as the licence runs. Optionally, Outlook with Microsoft 365 Copilot is also covered. Choose YouTube for a quick one-off question and this e-learning if you want to learn Outlook fully and in a structured way.

Yes, this e-learning works well for large groups of staff, for example during a migration to a new version of Outlook or a roll-out within an organisation. Each participant works through the three modules at their own pace, with a total of 61 lesson videos and 61 exercises. Progress is recorded per participant and can be made visible to the manager if required, so that you as an organisation keep track of how things are going. For larger numbers of participants a volume discount is possible. Compared with classroom in-company courses, this e-learning is more flexible to plan: staff don't all have to be scheduled off at the same time and can pick up the material at quieter moments. Contact Learnit for the options and group rates.

The bundle consists of three modules at increasing levels. Module 1 (Basics) covers email functionality: reading, formatting and sending messages, attachments, signatures, rules and managing contacts. This module contains 31 video lessons, 31 assignments and 3 reference documents. Module 2 (Intermediate) focuses on the calendar, appointments, meetings, shared calendars, tasks and notes, with 13 video lessons and 13 assignments. Module 3 (Expert) deals with the Outlook environment itself: personalising the ribbon, managing windows and folders, exporting and importing, with 17 video lessons, 17 assignments and 6 reference documents. Each module takes around 7 hours to complete. You do not have to work through the modules in strict order, but starting with Basics makes sense if you have little experience with Outlook. If you already have a good grasp of the basics, you can start straight away with Intermediate or Expert.

Each module takes about 7 hours, so allow for roughly 21 hours for the three modules together. You have 9 months' access from the start date, which is more than enough to complete the course alongside a full-time job. The material is built up from short lesson videos followed immediately by an exercise, so you can easily work in blocks of 15 to 30 minutes. Your progress is saved as you go, so you can stop at any moment and continue later. Only the final test for each module has to be completed in one go. In practice, many participants plan two to three short sessions a week and finish the whole bundle within six to eight weeks.

Copilot is the AI assistant in Microsoft 365 that helps in Outlook with summarising long mail threads, drafting mails based on a short instruction, and retrieving information from earlier correspondence. In this e-learning course, Copilot for Outlook is an optional part, alongside the three main modules on basics, follow-up and expert level. It is worth including if you have a Microsoft 365 licence with Copilot and process a lot of mail every day. If you don't have a Copilot licence, you can skip the content without missing anything in the core material. The optional approach means that you decide for yourself how much time you spend on it within your nine-month access period.
