Where does the in-company Project Leadership course take place?
Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.
Can the content be tailored to our organisation?
Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.
How large can the group be?
That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.
What does Project Leadership in-company cost?
You receive a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quote. For a group this works out cheaper than booking everyone individually. For comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs € 1950,- excl. VAT per participant.
Can the course be delivered in English?
Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.
Do participants receive a certificate?
Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.
How do I request a quote?
Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.
Who is the Project Leadership course suitable for and what prior knowledge do you need?
The Project Leadership course is intended for project leaders and managers who already have experience of managing projects and want to develop further in their role. You do not need any specific prior education, but practical experience with projects is important. During the course your personal leadership style is central, so that you lead your team more effectively.
Which topics are covered in the Project Leadership course?
In the Project Leadership course you cover eight core topics: the various roles of a project leader, dividing work efficiently, handling conflict, putting ideas across convincingly, inspiring and motivating team members, providing effective direction, giving and receiving feedback, and managing projects professionally. Theory alternates with exercises and role plays, with your own leadership style as the focal point.
What is the delivery format of the Project Leadership course and do you receive a certificate?
The Project Leadership course is taught in a classroom setting in a small group. Guided by an experienced trainer, you work with theory, exercises and role plays in which your own leadership style takes centre stage. Afterwards you receive a certificate of participation, and course material is included.
Can you also take the Project Leadership course in-company?
Yes, the Project Leadership course can also be delivered in-company at your own location. This is worth considering if you want to train several project leaders within your organisation at the same time. The content of the course remains the same, but the exercises and role plays are tailored to recognisable situations from your own projects. Request a tailored quotation for the exact investment and scheduling.
How do you improve your personal leadership style as a project leader?
You improve your leadership style through self-reflection, analyses and practical exercises. In the Project Leadership course you discover, through role plays and feedback, which style suits you best. You learn to make use of your strengths, recognise pitfalls and consciously adjust your behaviour to your team and your client. In this way you grow into an authentic, effective project leader.
When should you choose a classroom Project Leadership course instead of a book or online course about leadership?
A book or online course works fine for taking in theory about leadership styles. For actually developing your personal style as a project leader, self-study falls short, because you get no direct feedback on your behaviour. In Learnit's classroom Project Leadership course you practise through role-play with situations such as handling conflict, giving feedback, managing clients and motivating team members. An experienced trainer and fellow participants mirror your behaviour, so that you discover which style suits you. Choose a classroom course if you already have project experience and want to work specifically on your effectiveness in difficult conversations. Choose self-study if you purely want to gain knowledge about project methodologies.
What is the difference between the Project Leadership course and a classic project management course such as PRINCE2 or IPMA?
A project management course such as Prince2 or IPMA focuses on methodology: phasing, control aspects, risk analysis and documentation. You learn how to structure a project according to a fixed framework and usually finish with an exam and certification. Learnit's Project Leadership course focuses on the behavioural side of leading projects. You work on your personal leadership style, conveying ideas convincingly, motivating team members, handling conflict, giving and receiving feedback and your relationship with your client. You do not receive a methodological certificate, but a certificate of attendance. Choose Prince2 or IPMA if you want to master the structure of projects. Choose Project Leadership if you already know the methodology and want to grow in the human side of your role.
How do I know whether I am ready for a Project Leadership course, or whether I would be better off taking a basic project management course first?
The Project Leadership course is aimed at project leaders who already have experience of managing projects. You work on your personal leadership style, not on the basics of working in projects. Concretely: do you know the phases of a project, do you know how to draw up a plan and have you already led a team? Then this course is right for you. If you find yourself hesitating over questions such as 'how do I define scope?' or 'how do I carry out a risk analysis?', first choose a basic project management course or a methodical course such as PRINCE2 Foundation or IPMA-D. Project Leadership will then deliver more, because you can focus on the behavioural side: communicating convincingly, motivating team members, handling conflict and dealing effectively with the client.
