“A good course for mastering the basics of Scrum. It has a mix of practice and theory, so that you can apply the theory properly. Actually working with Scrum will take longer to master fully, but this course gives you enough to take it further on your own.”

Frequently asked questions about Agile Scrum Basics in-company

Where does the Agile Scrum Basics in-company course take place?

Wherever suits you: at your office, at one of our training locations or online. You also choose the date.

Can the content be tailored to our organisation?

Yes. Before the course we discuss with you what the group can already do, where things go wrong in practice and what should be different afterwards. The trainer uses examples and exercises from your own work.

How large can the group be?

That depends on the course. For a skills course we prefer to work with a small group, so that everyone can really practise. If more people are involved, we schedule several groups or set up a fixed programme.

What does Agile Scrum Basics in-company cost?

You receive a fixed price for the whole group, in a tailored quote. For a group this works out cheaper than booking everyone individually. By way of comparison: a place on the scheduled course costs € 1300,- excl. VAT per participant.

Can the course be delivered in English?

Yes. For in-company courses we deliver the training in the language of your choice, Dutch or English. Mention it in your request.

Do participants receive a certificate?

Yes, every participant receives a certificate of attendance afterwards.

How do I request a quote?

Via the quote form: state the course, the number of participants and roughly where and when you would like it. An adviser will then contact you.

Which certifications can you obtain after the Agile Scrum Basics course?
After the Agile Scrum Basics course you can sit the online Scrum Foundation exam from EXIN, which you take at home under the supervision of a proctor via webcam and microphone. The course also provides a good basis for the official Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) exams from the Scrum Alliance. You indicate your exam preference on the registration form.
Who is the Agile Scrum Basics course suitable for?
The Agile Scrum Basics course is suitable for anyone who works with Scrum within an organisation. This includes project managers, team leaders, developers, testers, functional administrators and directors. It is also a good fit if you want to take on a role as Scrum Master, Product Owner or team member. No prior knowledge of Scrum is required.
How does the Agile Scrum Basics course work in practice?
The Agile Scrum Basics course is itself run according to the Scrum method. During the course you experience how Scrum works by applying it directly: you work with a backlog, go through sprints, and hold sprint reviews and evaluations. This gives you a realistic picture of roles, ceremonies and collaboration within a Scrum team, rather than theory alone.
Which topics are covered during the Agile Scrum Basics course?
During the Agile Scrum Basics course you will learn all the core elements of the Scrum framework. Topics include: the roles and responsibilities within a Scrum team, drawing up and managing a backlog, the course of a Sprint, conducting a Sprint review and evaluation, measuring progress and scaling Scrum up to large projects.
Do you need any prior knowledge for the Agile Scrum Basics course?
No, you do not need any specific prior knowledge for the Agile Scrum Basics course. The course is set up as a basic course and starts with the core of the Scrum methodology. Some affinity with project-based work is useful, but not a requirement. In the classroom course you learn all the roles, processes and terms you need in order to join a Scrum team straight away.
When do you choose a classroom Scrum course and when self-study or an online course?
The choice depends on how you learn and what you want to be able to do in practice. Self-study using books or an online course works fine if you only want to understand the theory of Scrum, for example so that you can join in the conversation within a team. A classroom course such as Agile Scrum Basics makes more sense if you want to actively fulfil a role as Scrum Master, Product Owner or team member. During the course, Scrum itself is applied: you work through sprints, backlogs and reviews with other participants and the trainer. That experience-based element is what you miss with self-study. In addition, the content is tailored: you can raise questions from your own organisation straight away. For those who want to sit the Exin Scrum Foundation exam, the course offers a firmer basis than theory alone.
What is the difference between Scrum Basics and a separate Scrum Master or Product Owner course?
Scrum Basics is a classroom course that gives you a complete overview of the Scrum framework and all three roles: Scrum Master, Product Owner and Development Team member. You will learn how a Sprint runs, how to draw up and manage a backlog, and how to measure progress. A separate Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) course from the Scrum Alliance goes into greater depth on one specific role and concludes with the official certification exam. Scrum Basics is broader and role-neutral: you decide later which role suits you. The course provides thorough preparation for CSM, CSPO and the Exin Scrum Foundation exam, which you can optionally take online at home under the supervision of a proctor.
How does Scrum compare to other Agile methods such as Kanban or SAFe, and why do organisations choose Scrum in particular?
Scrum, Kanban and SAFe all fall under the Agile umbrella, but each has a different focus. Scrum works with fixed roles (Scrum Master, Product Owner, team member), time-boxed Sprints and clear events such as the Sprint review and retrospective. Kanban has no Sprints or fixed roles and is managed on lead time and work-in-progress limits. SAFe is a framework for scaling Agile up to large organisations with several teams at once. Organisations often choose Scrum because it offers a clear structure with short feedback loops, while remaining flexible enough for change. In the Agile Scrum Basics course (classroom) you learn how to apply Scrum and how to use it for larger projects. It also covers how to 'sell' Scrum internally and to clients.
