Is Scrum also useful outside software development, for example for a marketing or HR team?

Yes. Scrum originated in software development, but is now applied in marketing, HR, product development, education and even in production environments. The method is based on Lean (Toyota, around 1950) and revolves around short work cycles (Sprints), clear roles and regular feedback. Principles that are useful in any form of teamwork. For a marketing team, a Sprint might deliver a campaign; for HR, a revised recruitment process. What works everywhere: the backlog, the daily stand-up, the Sprint review and the evaluation. What sometimes needs adjusting: the definition of 'done' and how you measure progress without code as the deliverable. Scrum is a method for managing projects and falls under the Agile process management methods. These are based on the Lean method developed around 1950 by car manufacturer Toyota. Scrum has its origins in software development, but is now applied successfully in virtually every industry. The focus is on communication within projects and on the interaction between departments and with clients.

In this course you not only receive an explanation of the various elements of Scrum, but the training itself is also run according to the Scrum method. This way you experience directly how Scrum works in practice and get a realistic picture of the approach.
