Scrum helps you tackle projects flexibly and purposefully. In this course you experience for yourself how Scrum works and discover the roles, ceremonies and strengths of this method. A solid basis for anyone getting started with Agile.
Scrum is a method for managing projects and falls under the Agile process management methods. These are based on the Lean method developed around 1950 by car manufacturer Toyota. Scrum has its origins in software development, but is now applied successfully in virtually every industry. The focus is on communication within projects and on the interaction between departments and with clients.
In this course you not only receive an explanation of the various elements of Scrum, but the training itself is also run according to the Scrum method. This way you experience directly how Scrum works in practice and get a realistic picture of the approach.
You will gain insight into all aspects of the Scrum methodology and will be able to fulfil one of the roles within a Scrum team afterwards: Scrum Master, Product Owner or team member. The course also provides a solid basis if you want to prepare for an official Scrum exam.
The following topics, among others, are covered during the course:
After this course you will know the Scrum methodology inside out. You will know how a Sprint runs, how to draw up and manage a backlog, and how to measure the progress of a project. You will also be able to carry out a Sprint review and evaluation.
You will be able to fulfil one of the Scrum roles: Scrum Master, Product Owner or team member. You will also know how to apply Scrum in larger projects and how to get colleagues and clients on board with the approach.
The course also provides a solid basis if you want to prepare for Exin's Scrum Foundation exam or for the Scrum Alliance certifications, such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
Do you work in an organisation that is adopting Scrum or plans to do so? Then this course is for you. The course suits directors, (project) managers, team members, developers, functional administrators and testers who want to fulfil their role within a Scrum team properly.
The course is entirely practice-oriented. You will not only learn Scrum in theory, but experience the method directly: the course itself is run according to Scrum. You will work in short sprints, go through the associated ceremonies and continually switch roles.
The group is small, so you receive plenty of personal attention from an experienced trainer. Theory and practice alternate constantly, so you can apply what you have learnt straight away to recognisable situations from your own working practice.
Afterwards you receive a certificate of participation. You may keep the course material, so you can refer back to it in the workplace.
You do not need any specific prior knowledge for this course. Some experience of project-based work or working in a team is useful, but not a requirement. Are you interested in Scrum and would you like to know how to apply it in practice? Then you are welcome.
This course is run according to the Scrum method itself, so that you experience directly how Scrum works in practice. We tailor the content to the participants' wishes. Would you like to sit the online Scrum Foundation exam from Exin at home afterwards? If so, please indicate this in the comments field on the registration form.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
When would you like to start?
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

“In a relatively short time, the course provides insight into the theory and its practical application. The book supplied by the trainer is a good way to go back over everything at your leisure.”
M. Kerklaan, Rabobank - Agile Scrum Basics
“A good course for mastering the basics of Scrum. It has a mix of practice and theory, so that you can apply the theory properly. Actually working with Scrum will take longer to master fully, but this course gives you enough to take it further on your own.”
Johanan van Maanen, AFAS Software B.V.- Agile Scrum Basics

"Good course and trainer. The Scrum basics course is recommended for anyone who wants to understand this technique and be able to apply it. The right balance of theory and practice, with useful tips including do's and don'ts. Wouter is a trainer with practical experience, who delivers his courses interactively with a great deal of enthusiasm and energy. He responds perfectly to the group's wishes and in that way turns it into a compelling and inspiring course."
D. Kooi - Agile Scrum Basics
"I learned a great deal in this very varied course, particularly the fact that you have to look at delivering an end product in a different way. And the techniques involved in that too. Because we were in a small group, there was plenty of room to ask questions and share experiences. I do think you only really master Scrum by actually getting to work with it. The organisation has to be ready for it as well."
- Agile Scrum Basics
“The Scrum Basics course gives a good picture of the theory behind the method and immediately makes it possible to learn to apply it in your own practice.”
Alwin Wullink, Saxion - Agile Scrum Basics
“The objectives I set beforehand were achieved. Thanks to an experienced trainer and plenty of theory and practical assignments, I gained enough basic knowledge of Scrum to apply it in practice. The course venue was located close to the central station and therefore easy to reach.”

"This is an excellent course for getting an impression of SCRUM. You learn the basic principles and, with practical examples, how to work with them."

"I was very pleased with the online one-to-one course itself. I hesitated to accept it as an alternative to classroom training because it is shorter, but in the end I think I got more out of it this way."
