From first sketch to print-ready PDF: in three days you work with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign on professional printed matter and digital publications. You experience how the three programs work together and use them purposefully for flyers, brochures and interactive PDFs.

Description

In this three-day Adobe Creative Cloud DTP course you work with the three core desktop publishing programs: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. You go through the complete process from design to publication and see how the programs fit together.

You will work on photo editing in Photoshop, vector illustrations in Illustrator and layout in InDesign. You will then bring the work from these programs together into a final result. You will work on professional print work such as flyers, advertisements and brochures, and on digital publications in PDF form, including interactive newsletters, forms and presentations.

The course is offered as an open learning format, in which you work at your own pace under the guidance of an experienced trainer.

Topics

In this three-day course you will learn to work with the three main DTP programs of Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. You will discover how to bring images, illustrations and layout together into professional print work or digital publications.

Photoshop

  • Basic photo correction and retouching
  • Working with selections, layers and masks
  • Cutting out images
  • Smart objects and colour matching
  • Saving and web optimisation

Illustrator

  • Drawing with basic shapes and the pen tool
  • Making selections and aligning
  • Tracing images
  • Placing text on paths
  • Working with layers and artboards
  • Gradients and colour management

InDesign

  • Working with master pages
  • Placing images and text
  • Text wrap and effects
  • Paragraph, character and nested styles
  • Table of contents and page numbering
  • Project storage, publication and PDF export

You finish with the skills to independently work through the process from design to publication, for print and for interactive PDFs.

Result

After this course you can run through the entire process from design to publication on your own. You edit and retouch images in Photoshop, create vector illustrations and logos in Illustrator and bring it all together in a professional layout in InDesign.

You deliver print-ready files for flyers, advertisements and brochures. You also create interactive PDFs, such as newsletters, fillable forms and presentations. You know which program to use at which moment and how to make the three packages work together effectively.

Target audience

This course is intended for desktop publishers and designers who already have experience with Adobe software and want to broaden their knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. You work on flyers, brochures, advertisements or digital publications, for example, and want to be able to run through the entire process from design to publication independently.

Basic knowledge of Adobe software is a requirement for taking part. Afterwards you will have a command of the elementary functions of the three packages and you will know which program to use at which moment.

Teaching method

You take this course in our open learning format. This means you work at your own pace on practice-oriented exercises in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, while an experienced trainer is present in the room to give you personal guidance.

You decide for yourself where to place the emphasis and which exercises you want to practise further. Do you have a question or are you stuck? Then you get tailored explanation straight away. That way you work specifically on the parts that are most relevant to your work.

Prior knowledge

You need basic knowledge of Adobe software. You know how to open and save a file and have worked with Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign before. No other specific prior knowledge is required.

Comments

You follow this course in an open learning format. You work independently on assignments on a day that suits you, with an experienced trainer nearby for explanation and feedback. This way you set your own pace and organise the day around the topics that matter most to you.

Course format

This training is offered on the basis of our Open Learning teaching method. This means that you work independently, with active guidance from our trainer, to master the material. That way you can achieve your learning objectives at your own pace, without being held back by fellow participants working faster or slower. The trainer makes sure that you stay on schedule and meet your learning objectives. This form of learning leaves room for a tailored approach. You have the opportunity to bring in examples from your own practice and IT environment, so that your learning is even more specific. more...

Language

The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.

    Frequently asked questions

The Adobe Creative Cloud DTP course covers Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign in combination, whereas separate courses explore a single program in depth. You learn how the programs connect within a workflow that runs from design to publication. Image editing is done in Photoshop, vector illustrations and logos in Illustrator, and the final layout of flyers, advertisements, brochures and interactive PDFs in InDesign. Separate courses often go into greater depth on one program, but leave the interaction between them out of consideration. Choose Creative Cloud DTP if you want to be able to carry out the entire DTP process independently. Choose a separate course if you only want to master one specific program. Basic knowledge of Adobe software is a requirement for taking part in this combined training course.

Yes, that is the explicit end level of the Adobe Creative Cloud DTP course. You work through the entire process from design to publication: image editing in Photoshop, vector illustrations in Illustrator and the final layout in InDesign. You also learn the correct PDF export settings for professional print work, working with master pages and applying paragraph, character and nested styles. Afterwards you will be able to build a flyer, advertisement or brochure, cut out images, set text wrap and deliver a print-ready PDF. For digital publications you also learn to design interactive newsletters, fillable forms and lightweight presentations. One condition does apply: you need basic knowledge of Adobe software. Without that basis, the course is too short to reach production level.
