Lean Six Sigma helps organisations work smarter by removing waste and making processes more predictable. As a Yellow Belt you contribute to improvement projects and speak the language of Lean and Six Sigma.
Lean and Six Sigma are two improvement methodologies that reinforce each other. Lean focuses on flow and eliminating waste, Six Sigma on reducing variation and errors. Together they form an approach with which you improve processes measurably, starting from the customer's wishes.
At Yellow Belt level you gain the basics. You learn how improvement projects are structured through the DMAIC cycle, which roles exist within a Lean Six Sigma organisation and how to recognise where value is lost in a process. You practise with instruments such as Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen, so that you can apply them in your own team after the course.
The course prepares you well in terms of content for a Yellow Belt exam with an external examination body, and is also valuable if you simply want to be able to play your part in ongoing improvement projects within your organisation.
After this course you will know the basic principles of Lean Six Sigma and how Lean and Six Sigma reinforce each other. You will recognise the eight forms of waste, be able to create a simple Value Stream Map and know how to follow the DMAIC cycle in an improvement project. You will translate customer requirements into team goals, manage using daily start meetings and make a valuable contribution to Lean Six Sigma projects within your organisation. In addition, you will be prepared in terms of content for a Yellow Belt exam with an external examination body.
This course is intended for anyone who wants to get acquainted with Lean Six Sigma. For example because you contribute to improvement projects, because Lean Six Sigma is being introduced in your organisation, or because you want to analyse and improve processes in your own work. The course is suitable for employees, team leaders, project members and support staff in virtually every sector.
The course has a practical set-up. You alternate short blocks of theory with simulations, exercises and games in which you try out the Lean Six Sigma tools straight away. Because the groups are small, there is plenty of room for your own practical examples and questions, so you can apply the material to your work immediately.
No specific prior knowledge is required for this course. Work experience in an organisation with processes or projects helps you to link the material to your own practice.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. You can also choose the training format that suits you best: a classroom course, a tailor-made course at your own office, an online course or an e-learning. We have the right course and the right format for everyone. Because learning in the way that suits you best delivers the best results.
Personal attention and a pleasant atmosphere. Whether you take a course with us, at your office or on your own PC, we make sure you feel at home enough to push your boundaries.
New opportunities arise when you get moving. Stay sharp. Keep taking new steps. We encourage you to take the plunge and really go for it.
Discover something new. Build on your strengths. And choose your own path. We help you grow with training courses and learning formats that genuinely suit you.
We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

Yellow Belt is the entry level within Lean Six Sigma. You learn the basic principles of Lean and Six Sigma, know the main tools and can contribute to improvement projects within your organisation. Above Yellow Belt are Green Belt, Black Belt and Master Black Belt.
For anyone who wants to get to know Lean Six Sigma or who contributes to improvement projects. Think of employees, team leaders, project members and support staff in almost any sector. The course is also suitable if Lean Six Sigma is being introduced in your organisation.
No, you do not need any specific prior knowledge. Work experience in an organisation with processes or projects helps you to link the material to your own practice, but it is not a condition for taking part.
Topics include the basics of Lean and Six Sigma, the DMAIC cycle, customer value, the eight forms of waste, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen and daily stand-ups. You also look at the roles within a Lean Six Sigma organisation.
Yes, you will receive a Learnit certificate of participation afterwards. This is not an official Yellow Belt exam certificate. Would you like an official Yellow Belt certificate? In that case, you can sit an exam with an external examination body after the course. The course prepares you well in terms of content.
The course is practical and interactive. Short blocks of theory alternate with simulations, exercises and games in which you apply the tools straight away. The small groups leave plenty of room for your own practical examples and questions.
Lean focuses on flow and reducing waste in a process. Six Sigma focuses on reducing variation and cutting errors using data. In Lean Six Sigma you combine the two: you make processes faster and more predictable, starting from what the customer wants.
DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. It is the standard improvement cycle within Lean Six Sigma. You start by defining the problem, measure how the process currently runs, analyse causes, implement improvements and embed the new situation.
The eight types of waste (often abbreviated as TIMWOODS) are: Transport, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, Overprocessing, Defects and Skills (untapped talent). Recognising these forms of waste is a core skill at Yellow Belt level.
Value Stream Mapping is a technique for mapping out a process visually: from the first step to the end result for the customer. You make clear which steps add value, where waiting times arise and where waste occurs. It is an important basis for improvement projects.
Kaizen is a Japanese term that stands for continuous improvement in small steps. Instead of one large change all at once, you make a small improvement every day or every week. Everyone in the team contributes to it. Kaizen is one of the pillars of the Lean philosophy.
