SharePoint is the beating heart of many organisations: it's where you find documents, share information and work together with colleagues. In this course you learn to use it handily and confidently as an end user.

Description

You start with a tour of the SharePoint interface. You learn how sites are structured, how to navigate quickly using the quick launch and how to mark important locations as favourites. That way you no longer waste time looking for the right place.

After that you get to work with libraries and lists. You upload documents, learn how to check them in and out so that colleagues do not overwrite each other's work, and discover how to work with versions and metadata. You use lists to manage and share data clearly.

The trainer adapts the pace and the examples to your work situation. Are you running into something in your own working environment? Bring the example along and we will tackle it together during the course.

What will you learn in the SharePoint for End Users course?

You learn to work independently with SharePoint as an end user. The course covers the interface, working with document libraries, uploading and checking documents in and out, version control and working with lists. After the course you will find your way around a SharePoint site effortlessly.

Who is this SharePoint course suitable for?

The course is intended for employees who deal with SharePoint at work and want to work comfortably with it as an end user. Think of anyone who manages documents, collaborates on files or shares information via a SharePoint environment. Technical prior knowledge is not required.

What prior knowledge do you need?

You have a basic knowledge of Windows and can work with Office applications such as Word and Excel. Previous experience with SharePoint is not required: you start with the basics.

Which versions of SharePoint are covered?

The course is suitable for SharePoint 2016, 2019 and the version in Microsoft 365 (SharePoint Online). When you register, you indicate which version you use in practice, so that we can take this into account during the course. Do you work with an older version? Then we will look for a suitable solution together.

Do you receive a certificate afterwards?

Yes. Afterwards you will receive a Learnit certificate of attendance. This certificate shows that you have completed the SharePoint for End Users course.

Can you also follow this course in-company?

Yes, we can deliver this course in-company for your organisation. We then tailor the content to your SharePoint environment and working processes. Contact us for a bespoke quotation without obligation.

What is the difference between checking a document in and out?

When you check out a document, you temporarily claim it for yourself. Colleagues can see that you are working on it and cannot edit it at the same time. When you have finished, you check the document back in. Only then do others see your changes and can they continue working with it. This prevents colleagues from accidentally overwriting each other's work.

What is the difference between a SharePoint library and a list?

A library is intended for storing and managing files, such as documents, images or presentations. A list is intended for structured information, comparable to a table: think of a task list, a contact list or an overview of projects. You can enrich both with columns and filters to find the right information quickly.

Can you bring your own practical example to the course?

Certainly. If you come up against a specific situation in your working environment, you can bring that example to the course. The trainer helps you tackle it during the practice sessions, so that you apply what you have learnt directly to your own work.

How does SharePoint relate to OneDrive and Teams?

You use OneDrive for your personal files and SharePoint for files you share with your team or organisation. For file storage in channels, Microsoft Teams uses SharePoint in the background. When you upload a file to a channel in Teams, it is in fact stored in a SharePoint library. That is why it is useful to know the basic principles of SharePoint, even if you mainly work in Teams.

Do you work on your own laptop during the course?

In the classroom variant you can work on a computer provided by Learnit or bring your own laptop. In the online variant you work on your own device. Make sure you have access to a SharePoint environment or that you can use the practice environment we provide.

What does the SharePoint for End Users course cost?

You can find the current price at the top right of this course page, along with the schedule, location and delivery format. For in-company or bespoke courses we are happy to provide a quotation on request.
