Your EQ largely determines how you deal with pressure, collaboration and leadership. In this course you work on self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. With a personal action plan for immediate application.

Description

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is at least as decisive for your success as your cognitive skills. In this course you work on your ability to recognise, understand and consciously use emotions in yourself and others.

You will explore the five building blocks of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. Through practical exercises you experience how these components relate to one another and how to apply them in your daily work and private situations.

The course is interactive and personal in its set-up. An intake takes place beforehand, so that your learning objectives are built into the programme. You work in a small group of no more than eight participants, which leaves room to experiment with new behaviour. You finish with a personal action plan that you can start using straight away.

Topics

During this course you work on the five building blocks of emotional intelligence and translate them into your own practice:

  • Self-awareness. Recognising your own emotions and understanding how they drive your thinking and behaviour.
  • Self-regulation. Techniques for managing your emotions and building a positive mindset.
  • Motivation. Planning with purpose, staying focused and keeping things moving.
  • Empathy. Recognising other people's emotions and responding to them appropriately.
  • Social skills. Insight into your communication style and strengthening your communication.
  • EQ and (personal) leadership. Inspiring, motivating and guiding yourself and others.
  • Resilience and stress management. Dealing more effectively with pressure and setbacks.
  • Personal action plan. Applying what you have learned directly in your work and daily life.

Result

After this course you will recognise and understand your own emotions better and be able to manage them consciously. You will know how to control stress, stay motivated and respond to setbacks with more resilience.

You have practised with the five building blocks of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. As a result, you read other people's emotions more accurately, communicate more effectively and build stronger relationships. Both privately and at work.

You leave the course with a personal action plan, so you can apply what you have learnt straight away in your day-to-day practice and continue to grow in (personal) leadership.

Target audience

The course Emotional intelligence is suitable for anyone who wants to strengthen their EQ in order to deal better with personal and professional challenges, such as:

Team leaders and managers, HR professionals, client-facing professionals, entrepreneurs and freelancers, team members.

In short: anyone who wants to grow personally and work on their own development.

Teaching method

During this course you work in a small group of no more than eight participants, guided by an experienced trainer. An intake takes place beforehand, so that your personal learning objectives are incorporated into the programme.

The approach is practical and interactive: you learn by doing and experiencing. You practise with recognisable situations, receive feedback and exchange experiences with other participants. Theory and practice alternate, allowing you to translate what you have learned directly into your own working and personal environment.

You finish the course with a personal action plan, so you can put the insights and skills you have gained straight into practice.

Prior knowledge

No specific prior knowledge is required for this course. You do not need any theory or experience with emotional intelligence. An open attitude and a willingness to look at yourself and reflect on your own emotions and behaviour are enough.

In-company

Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.

Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.

    Frequently asked questions

The Emotional Intelligence course is suitable for anyone who wants to strengthen their EQ: managers, team leaders, HR professionals, customer-facing staff, entrepreneurs and team members. No specific prior education is required. The course is taught in a classroom setting with groups of no more than eight participants, so you have plenty of room to practise self-awareness, empathy and social skills in a safe environment.

The Emotional Intelligence course covers the five core components of EQ: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. You learn to recognise and manage your own emotions, handle stress, respond more empathetically and communicate more effectively. The course concludes with a personal action plan, so that you apply what you have learned directly at work and in your private life.

Yes, after completing the Emotional Intelligence course you will receive a certificate of participation from Learnit. This certificate confirms that you actively took part in both course days and worked through the five components of EQ. Self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. It is a valuable addition to your CV and LinkedIn profile.

No, no specific prior knowledge is required for the Emotional Intelligence course. The classroom course is suitable for anyone who wants to develop their EQ, regardless of role or level of education. An intake takes place beforehand to establish your personal learning objectives. That way, the programme matches your starting level and situation, whether you are a manager, an HR professional or a team member.

Yes, the Emotional Intelligence course is also available as an in-company course. You then follow the course with your own team at a location of your choice. The programme is tailored to the specific learning objectives and situations within your organisation. Request a tailored quotation for the options, group size and price of in-company programmes.

An emotional intelligence course focuses on Daniel Goleman's five EQ components: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. The starting point is your own emotional make-up. A communication course usually works from the outside in: conversation techniques, giving feedback, listening. A leadership course focuses on steering, vision and team dynamics. With EQ, you first learn to recognise and manage your own emotions before communicating or leading more effectively. This makes this course (classroom-based, a maximum of eight participants) more of a foundation than a replacement. Many participants take EQ precisely before or alongside a leadership or communication programme, because self-insight is the lever beneath the other skills.

A book or online course gives you the theory behind the five components of EQ (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills), but you don't practise anything with others. With emotional intelligence in particular, the gains lie in feedback: how does your reaction come across, do you correctly recognise the other person's emotion, and are you able to regulate yourself in a tense moment? You only learn that by practising in a safe setting. Learnit's classroom course works with a maximum of eight participants, an intake beforehand and a personal action plan at the end. Choose self-study if you mainly want to explore what EQ is in conceptual terms. Choose the training course if you genuinely want to change your behaviour.

EQ growth shows in concrete behaviour, not in a test score alone. During the course you work on Daniel Goleman's five components: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. At the end you draw up a personal action plan with measurable behavioural goals. In practice you will notice growth through signals such as: you recognise sooner which emotion triggers a reaction, you react less impulsively in tense conversations, and colleagues tell you that you listen better. If you want a more objective measure, you can complete a validated EQ questionnaire yourself before and after the course (for example EQ-i 2.0) or gather 360° feedback from colleagues. The course itself does not include a formal EQ test; the focus is on application in your daily work.

Yes, in that case emotional intelligence training can be particularly valuable. EQ is not a character trait you are born with, but a set of five competencies that can be learned: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. Strongly analytical participants often have an advantage in recognising patterns in their own behaviour, but get stuck when it comes to naming and calibrating emotions in conversations. Learnit's course (classroom-based, maximum eight participants) is practical and interactive: you practise with real situations from your own work. Beforehand there is an intake to determine your learning objectives. You finish with a personal action plan, so that you apply what you have learned directly at the moments when reason alone is not enough.

The course is built entirely around the five components of EQ according to Daniel Goleman: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. That is a narrower and deeper focus than a broad soft skills course, which often also covers presenting, time management or giving feedback. Compared with an individual coaching programme, you work in a group of no more than eight participants, which means you can practise empathy and social skills directly in interaction with others. An intake takes place beforehand so that your learning objectives can be built into the programme. You finish with a personal action plan for applying what you have learnt in your work and private life, including course materials and a certificate of attendance.

Learnit's Emotional intelligence course is taught in a classroom setting in groups of no more than 8 participants. When comparing providers, these are the main criteria to look out for: - **Underlying framework**: this course covers the five classic EQ components (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, social skills). Not every provider works with an explicit model. - **Group size**: max. 8 participants makes personal feedback possible; larger groups (15+) mainly offer theory. - **Intake beforehand**: the programme is tailored to your learning objectives. Open registration without an intake is more generic. - **Closing with an action plan**: ensures transfer to practice. Choose the classroom-based option if you want to practise with real interaction; choose an online route if self-reflection at your own pace works better for you.

You can find the current price at the top right of this course page, along with the schedule, location and delivery format. For in-company or bespoke courses we are happy to provide a quotation on request.
