InDesign is the standard for page design and typography. During this open learning day you work at your own pace on flyers, brochures, books and digital publications. You learn the basic functions and discover the powerful possibilities of InDesign CC.
InDesign is the standard for page design and typography. You use it for publications such as books, brochures, flyers, posters and digital magazines. Thanks to its clear interface, the programme is also easily accessible to beginners.
In this course you will learn to work with the InDesign workspace and apply the basic principles. You will set up documents, work with pages and objects and make text flow smoothly. You will work with typography, colour, styles, tables and transparency. You will also import and edit images and shapes.
You gain insight into colour settings and the difference between RGB and CMYK for web, print and corporate identities. You learn what to look out for regarding resolution and DPI, and which file formats (jpg, gif, tiff, psd) are best used as a source file or end product. In addition, you create PDF files with form fields, export an eBook and work with long documents.
You take the course in the Open Learning format, working at your own pace under the guidance of an experienced trainer. You receive a book with exercises and exercise files, which you can use as a reference work after the course.
During this course you will learn to work with InDesign and discover how to lay out professional publications. The following topics are covered:
You agree the depth of the topics with your trainer, based on your own learning objectives and pace.
After this course you work independently with InDesign and produce professional layouts for both print and digital. You set up documents, place text and images, and apply typography, colour and styles in a consistent way.
You will know which colour mode and resolution suit print or web, and you will choose the right file format for your end product. From now on you can create flyers, leaflets, brochures, posters, books and digital magazines yourself, including export to PDF and ePub.
This course is intended for anyone who wants to get started with InDesign to design pages themselves. Think of graphic designers, marketing and communications staff, entrepreneurs and freelancers who want to produce their own material.
You learn to design for, among other things:
No prior knowledge of InDesign is required. It is useful, however, if you are comfortable working with a computer.
You take this course in the open learning format. This means you work through the course material and exercises at your own pace, while an experienced trainer is present in the room to answer your questions immediately. This way you focus on the topics that matter to you and skip what you already know.
You receive a clearly structured book with exercises and exercise files, which you can continue to use as a reference work after the course. The course is taught on PC, but is also suitable if you work with a Mac.
You do not need any specific prior knowledge for this course. Can you find your way around a computer and do you have some feeling for design? Then you can get started right away. Experience with other Adobe programmes is useful, but certainly not a requirement.
During this open learning day you work independently through the material at your own pace, with an experienced trainer in the background for questions and explanation. You decide which InDesign topics you want to explore in more depth, so that your learning objectives take centre stage. Feel free to bring along your own work or examples to practise with.
This training is offered on the basis of our Open Learning teaching method. This means that you work independently, with active guidance from our trainer, to master the material. That way you can achieve your learning objectives at your own pace, without being held back by fellow participants working faster or slower. The trainer makes sure that you stay on schedule and meet your learning objectives. This form of learning leaves room for a tailored approach. You have the opportunity to bring in examples from your own practice and IT environment, so that your learning is even more specific. more...
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.

Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

“The location is magnificent and the open character of the course appeals to me enormously. You can work at your own pace with individual guidance from an expert trainer.”

E. K. Deelstra, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen- InDesign CC Basics
“Learned an enormous amount in three days! It is an 'unusual' way of learning because you also work a great deal in your own book with your own assignments. But the advantage is that you carry out all the actions yourself (and therefore pick things up better), and you can work at your own pace. Because I already had a little experience with the program, I was able to go through some things quickly.”
M. van der Aa, H&R Badmeubelen & Sanitair - InDesign CC Basics
"Ideal if you want to work with InDesign for the first time. But it is also useful if you already work with InDesign and do not know all the ins and outs. Good professional guidance."

“I had a three-day InDesign course with good content. Personally, I had not expected that I would be able to apply the extensive knowledge I gained in practice within three days. The competent and professional approach of Learnit, and of the trainer in particular, means that I can get started with InDesign straight away across various projects.”
A. Logman, Dsign Denmark - InDesign CC Basics
"Good course, learned a lot. Everyone works at their own pace, which is pleasant. Getting started on the exercises straight away means you remember what you have learned better."

“InDesign is a very broad program. Our goal beforehand was to develop and lay out a promotional leaflet. After 3 days of training we managed to do this and we were able to safeguard our company's house style. This gives us confidence for the future and we hope to be able to develop more and more ourselves and be less dependent on an external party for the attractive design of our communication materials.”

“All staff in the Publications department of Oad Reizen took a four-day InDesign course through Learnit. We had indicated in advance what our learning objectives were and had sent some examples of what we would want to be able to produce as a minimum after taking the course. That was certainly achieved! Everything was explained to us clearly and we also picked up a great many tips, which means we can work with InDesign more easily and more effectively! I can recommend this course to anyone who works with InDesign.”
