A mission and vision should not be fine words on a poster. They give direction to choices, connect people and make visible what your organisation stands for. In this course you learn how to achieve that.
Many organisations have a mission and vision on paper, but in practice they hardly come to life. People do not know what the organisation stands for, choices are made ad hoc and the strategy does not connect to the bigger story. That is a shame, because a clear direction makes the work more enjoyable and decision-making easier.
During this course you work with the building blocks of a strong organisational direction. You learn what a mission and vision actually are, how they relate to your strategy and how to translate core values into the behaviour of staff. You work with your own organisation as a case study.
At the end of the course you have a concrete action plan in hand. You know how to formulate your mission and vision powerfully, how to make them land with your team and how to link them to strategic objectives.
After this course you are able to reflect systemically on the mission and vision of your organisation. You have tools to connect core values to the core qualities of your employees, and you know how to articulate and convey the reason your organisation exists. You have a concrete strategy for translating your mission and vision into practice.
This course is suitable for managers, team leaders, entrepreneurs and HR professionals who want to work on the direction of their organisation. Whether you have no mission and vision yet, are dissatisfied with the current wording, or are going through a transition or merger: here you will find the structure to sharpen your story. The size of your organisation does not matter.
The course alternates between theory, reflection and practical exercises. You always work with your own organisation as the starting point, so that everything you learn can be applied directly. The group is small, which leaves plenty of room for personal guidance and sparring with other participants. Your trainer challenges you to make connections between theory and your daily practice.
No specific prior knowledge is required. It helps if you are involved in strategic issues within your organisation.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. You can also choose the training format that suits you best: a classroom course, a tailor-made course at your own office, an online course or an e-learning. We have the right course and the right format for everyone. Because learning in the way that suits you best delivers the best results.
Personal attention and a pleasant atmosphere. Whether you take a course with us, at your office or on your own PC, we make sure you feel at home enough to push your boundaries.
New opportunities arise when you get moving. Stay sharp. Keep taking new steps. We encourage you to take the plunge and really go for it.
Discover something new. Build on your strengths. And choose your own path. We help you grow with training courses and learning formats that genuinely suit you.
We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.
What others say about this course
"It is an organisation that asks in advance what the training course should be about and with how many participants, so you know straight away where you stand. I found the collaboration pleasant. We were given a lot of information but also applied it in practice."
"The course was delivered at a good pace, allowing the participants to keep up well. It was not a large group, so there was plenty of room for the individual. The material was in a logical order, so that as you progressed through the course the basics kept being repeated, which made them stick."
"Learned lots of handy tricks"
"I have very good impression of the content of the training and specially of the trainer"
"Good, substantial training course; tailored to the participant's question."

The mission describes why your organisation exists: your reason for being and your promise to the outside world. The vision describes where you want to go: the picture of the future you are working towards. The strategy describes how you get there: the choices and steps you take to realise your vision. In this course you learn how these three reinforce one another.
A clear mission and vision give direction to choices, help set priorities and connect employees and customers to your organisation. They make visible what you stand for and what sets you apart. Without a clear course, decisions are taken ad hoc and focus is quickly lost.
A mission and vision only come to life when they are visible in day-to-day behaviour. You achieve this by making core values concrete, linking them to your employees' core qualities and letting them come back in decisions, conversations and stories. Storytelling plays a central role in this. During the course you practise techniques for conveying your story powerfully.
A powerful mission is short, clear and gets to the heart of your reason for being. A powerful vision is concrete, ambitious and compelling. You formulate them not in jargon, but from what you genuinely want to mean to others. In the course you work step by step towards wording that appeals both internally and externally.
Core values are the beliefs that guide behaviour within your organisation. They translate your mission into concrete attitudes and actions. Good core values are specific, lived and recognisable in the choices you make. In the course you learn how to define core values and how to link them to the core qualities of your staff.
