Spelling mistakes in e-mails, letters or quotations undermine your professional image. During this one-day course you refresh your knowledge of Dutch spelling and grammar, including the current rules. That way you will write and correct with confidence from now on.
Correct spelling and grammar are indispensable for professional communication. An email, quotation or report full of language errors undermines your credibility and that of your organisation. Yet the spelling rules have not become any simpler over the years. Think of the linking -n, the difference between per se and perse, or the conjugation of English verbs in Dutch.
In this one-day course Dutch spelling and grammar you will thoroughly refresh your knowledge of the official spelling rules. Among other things, you will cover the linking letters -n- and -s-, verb spelling, the use of capital letters, accents, hyphens and how to handle English words correctly in Dutch texts. You will also learn how to make complicated sentences clearer and more readable.
Afterwards you will write and correct texts with greater confidence and send out error-free communication from now on.
After this course you will know the current spelling rules and apply them with ease. You will know when to use a linking -n or -s, how to conjugate verbs correctly (including English ones) and when to write words separately or as one word. Doubts about capital letters, hyphens, diaereses or accents will be a thing of the past.
From now on you will write and correct emails, letters, quotations and online messages without errors. This makes you come across as more professional to colleagues, clients and business partners.
This course is suitable for anyone whose work involves internal or external communication in Dutch. Whether you write emails, reports, quotations or social media posts: a good command of spelling and grammar makes you come across as professional.
You follow this course in a small group, guided by an experienced trainer. Theory and practice alternate at a brisk pace. After a short explanation of a spelling or grammar rule, you start practising it straight away with practice-based assignments.
Before the course you have an intake interview with your trainer. That way your trainer knows exactly where your learning objectives lie and the programme can be tailored accordingly. You may bring your own texts, such as e-mails, letters or quotations, to examine during the course.
You take course material home with you, so that you can calmly read up on the rules again after the course. Afterwards you receive a certificate of participation.
You have a good command of the Dutch language and want to refresh your knowledge of spelling and grammar. Beyond that, no specific prior knowledge is required. Whether you write a lot or a little in your work, you are welcome to take your writing skills to a higher level.
None in particular.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
When would you like to start?

Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

“A personal, highly professional approach. The course was entirely tailored to my learning objectives. Using my own documents, we looked at where my pitfalls lie. We did plenty of exercises, all combined with clear explanations from a skilled trainer. Afterwards I was given a number of documents to continue working with. I found this very pleasant.”

“The course was a good refresher for me! The everyday issues you run into and think ‘How did that work again?’ are discussed and dealt with in detail. On top of that, everything is well organised: the service, the contact between participant and organisation/trainer, the materials, etc. In short: an excellent course!”
