Picking up the phone to make an acquisition call feels uncomfortable for many people. During this course you will discover how to turn that feeling around and hold conversations that are pleasant for both you and the customer.
Telephone acquisition is a skill in its own right. You have a few seconds to capture attention, you cannot see the person you are speaking to and you have to assess very quickly who you are talking to. No wonder many people dread it. Even so, it is a skill you can learn, and even come to enjoy.
In this course you first look at your own style. What is already working well and where is there room to grow? You then get to work on the building blocks of a strong conversation: a clear proposition, a call script that gives you something to hold on to without sounding scripted, and techniques for turning objections into opportunities.
You practise a great deal in small groups with situations from your own working practice. That way you take away not only knowledge but also experience and confidence.
After this course you will conduct telephone acquisition calls with more composure and confidence. You will know how to position your product clearly, how to build a call script that sounds natural and how to turn objections into arguments. You will recognise buying signals, steer the conversation with targeted questions and close at the right moment. The result: more appointments, better conversations and less apprehension when you pick up the phone.
This course is intended for marketing staff, account managers, sales staff and anyone who approaches customers or prospects in their work. Whether you are just starting out with cold acquisition or have been making calls for some time and want to sharpen your conversations: the course connects with your own level and practice.
At Learnit we work in small groups, so there is plenty of room to practise. Before the course you have an intake interview in which we discuss your learning objectives and practical situations. We tailor the content on that basis.
During the course we alternate short blocks of theory with practical exercises. You make follow-up calls, you practise openings and objections and you receive immediate feedback from the trainer and the other participants. Learning by doing comes first: you go home with new skills that you can apply the very next day.
You do not need any prior knowledge for this course. It is helpful, however, if your work involves telephone contact with customers, so that you can bring in situations of your own.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. You can also choose the training format that suits you best: a classroom course, a tailor-made course at your own office, an online course or an e-learning. We have the right course and the right format for everyone. Because learning in the way that suits you best delivers the best results.
Personal attention and a pleasant atmosphere. Whether you take a course with us, at your office or on your own PC, we make sure you feel at home enough to push your boundaries.
New opportunities arise when you get moving. Stay sharp. Keep taking new steps. We encourage you to take the plunge and really go for it.
Discover something new. Build on your strengths. And choose your own path. We help you grow with training courses and learning formats that genuinely suit you.
We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

You will learn how to conduct telephone acquisition calls with more composure and better results. Topics include building a call script, creating openings, dealing with objections, recognising buying signals and closing techniques. You gain insight into your own style and practise with situations from your own working practice.

No, no specific prior knowledge is required for this course. It does help if your work involves telephone contact with customers, so that you can bring in your own cases during the exercises.

Rejection is part of acquisition and rarely says anything about you personally. In the course you learn how to put rejection into perspective, how to explore objections rather than brush them aside, and how a 'no' can sometimes be turned into a follow-up appointment. By practising with real situations, you build resilience.
A good call script gives you something to hold on to without having to read it out word for word. It contains a strong opening, a clear reason for the call, questions to explore the need and a clear next step. During the course you build a call script that suits your own style and your target group.
The receptionist or assistant is not an obstacle, but a conversation partner. In this course you learn how to explain in a friendly, confident way why you are calling, how to ask the right questions to reach the decision-maker and how to avoid being brushed off straight away.
Buying signals are moments when the customer shows, verbally or in tone of voice, that their interest is growing. Think of detailed questions about delivery, price or use, or a shift to an enthusiastic tone. In the course you learn to pick up on these signals and act on them at the right moment with a suitable closing question.
With cold acquisition you call prospects who do not know you yet and who are not expecting you. With warm acquisition there is already a reason for contact: an earlier conversation, a download, a recommendation. The approach to the conversation differs: cold calls require more attention to the opening and to arousing interest, while warm calls build on what is already there. Both forms are covered in the course.
