Why does working with one person come naturally while with another it is a struggle? In the DISC for teams course you look together at the behavioural styles in your team and gain the language to discuss the dynamics. At the end of the course there is a concrete team action plan.

Description

DISC for Teams is a practical team course in which you look together at the behavioural dynamics of your team. Every participant completes the DISC questionnaire beforehand and receives a personal profile report setting out strengths, pitfalls and communication preferences.

During the course the trainer builds up the shared team profile with you. Which styles are dominant, which are missing, and what does that mean for how you take decisions, give feedback and assess risks? You work with concrete examples from your own team: a decision that did not land, a collaboration that ran into difficulty, a recurring irritation.

With the DISC lens, you often quickly see where things go wrong and what is needed. You practise how to give feedback, challenge each other and reach decisions faster on the basis of insight into style. The trainer works with your own team cases and role play, so that what you learn is directly connected to your own practice.

At the end of the course, you draw up a team action plan together, with agreements on how to handle each other's styles and where you want to adjust as a team.

Topics

  • The DISC model at a glance: Dominant, Interactive, Steady and Conscientious
  • The individual profile report: strengths, pitfalls and communication preferences
  • Building the team profile: which styles are dominant, which are missing
  • What your mix means for decision-making, feedback and risk assessment
  • Recognising and handling clashing styles
  • Giving feedback and holding each other to account using insight into styles
  • Mapping the team's blind spots
  • Working with your own team cases in role plays
  • Tailoring your communication to the recipient
  • Faster decision-making by making deliberate use of differences in style
  • Drawing up a shared team action plan
  • Concrete working agreements for the coming weeks

Result

After this course everyone in the team knows their DISC profile and you recognise each other's styles. You understand why some working relationships run smoothly and others keep faltering, and you have the language to discuss this without judgement.

Specifically, by the end you will be able to:

  • Describing your own DISC profile, with its strengths and pitfalls
  • Recognising your colleagues' styles from their behaviour and language
  • Giving feedback that matches the recipient's style
  • Spotting clashes between styles before they escalate
  • Speeding up decision-making by making deliberate use of differences in style
  • Identifying your team's blind spots
  • Working according to the agreements in the team action plan

Target audience

Do you want to work together better as a team and understand where the dynamics sometimes get stuck? Then this course is right for you. For individual participants, there is the DISC for yourself course.

The course is intended for:

  • Management teams that want to sharpen their decision-making and feedback
  • Project teams that need to get in tune with each other quickly
  • HR, sales and support teams that want to improve their collaboration
  • Newly formed teams that want to accelerate their internal dynamics
  • Teams that get stuck on recurring irritations or awkward communication

Teaching method

You work practically under the guidance of an experienced trainer. Beforehand, everyone completes the DISC questionnaire and receives their personal profile report. On the day of the course we combine short explanations with a joint team analysis, practice with your own cases and role-play.

The trainer works from situations that you bring in yourselves. This way, you link theory directly to your own practice and recognise patterns that recur in your day-to-day work.

At the end you draw up a team action plan together, with concrete agreements on communication, feedback and collaboration.

Prior knowledge

No specific prior knowledge is required. Every participant completes the DISC questionnaire beforehand and receives their personal profile report, so that you start the training day with a shared basis.

Comments

The course takes place with your own team. Each participant completes the DISC questionnaire beforehand, so that the profile reports are ready on the day of the course.

In-company

Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.

Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.

Frequently asked questions

You can find the current price at the top right of this course page, along with the schedule, location and delivery format. For in-company or bespoke courses we are happy to provide a quotation on request.

No, prior knowledge is not required. Every participant completes the DISC questionnaire beforehand and receives their own profile report. On the training day, the trainer explains the model clearly, so that everyone starts at the same level.

The course is suitable for management teams, project teams, HR, sales and support teams, and newly formed teams. In short: any group of people who work together on a structural basis and want to become sharper at it.

You gain insight into which styles are dominant in the team and which are missing. You see what that means for decision-making, feedback, risk assessment and the recurring irritations you are familiar with. You translate those insights directly into agreements.

A classroom course with your team in one room works best, because the dynamics become visible in how you respond to each other. An online version can be discussed for teams that are spread out. Get in touch to see what suits you.

Yes, every participant receives a Learnit certificate of attendance afterwards. In addition, everyone keeps their personal DISC profile report, which you can continue to use after the course.

The trainer combines short explanations with a joint team analysis, exercises based on your profiles and role-play using your own cases. There is plenty of scope to bring in situations from your own practice, so that the theory sinks in straight away.

The questionnaire gives you a profile report, but not the conversation. On the course you translate those profiles together into what they mean for the way you work together, and you practise using insight into styles in day-to-day practice. Without that translation, it remains just reading.

At the end of the course, you draw up a team action plan with concrete agreements on communication, feedback and decision-making. You put those agreements into practice straight away in your meetings and collaboration in the weeks that follow. That way, it does not stop at insight alone.

You take DISC for yourself as an individual, together with participants from other organisations, focusing on your own profile and communication. DISC for teams is something you do with your whole team and is about your shared dynamics. The team version therefore also produces a shared action plan.

Certainly. Project teams that need to work well together quickly benefit a great deal from DISC. In a short space of time you learn how each of you works, communicates and takes decisions, which considerably shortens the start-up phase of the project.

Resistance is fairly common and is usually not a problem. The trainer works without judgement and uses DISC descriptively, not as a label. In practice, we see that it is precisely the sceptics who join in after a few hours, because the conversation becomes concrete and is about real situations.
