Your breathing catches just before a job interview, your hands shake during a speech or your stomach churns before a first date. In this course you gain a grip on your body in tense situations.
Tension helps you stay sharp and alert, but at the wrong moments that same tension can paralyse you. Talking to yourself rationally often no longer works once your body has taken over. Your body sometimes has an agenda of its own.
The gain lies in getting to know that language. What signals does your body give? Where do they come from? And how do you make sure you are back in the driving seat? During this day you practise with breathing, voice and visualisation, so that you build up a personal toolkit you can use in any situation.
You work in a small group with plenty of room to experiment. Theory and practice alternate, so that you not only understand what is happening, but also feel it in your body and can steer it.
After this course you understand where your physical reactions come from and you recognise the signals your body gives you. You have concrete breathing, voice and visualisation techniques with which you can manage tension during presentations, conversations or other moments when you want to come into your own.
This course is for anyone who wants to get more of a grip on their body in tense situations. Think of presentations, job interviews, difficult conversations or other moments when you notice that your body is getting in the way.
You alternate between experiencing, experimenting, reflecting and exploring theory. The course has an active set-up, so you immediately feel what new behaviour does to you. The trainer continually invites you to make connections with your own practice and to translate it into your own situation. In this way you build an approach that suits you.
No specific prior knowledge is required. An open attitude and a willingness to work with your body are enough.
Overcoming fears
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. You can also choose the training format that suits you best: a classroom course, a tailor-made course at your own office, an online course or an e-learning. We have the right course and the right format for everyone. Because learning in the way that suits you best delivers the best results.
Personal attention and a pleasant atmosphere. Whether you take a course with us, at your office or on your own PC, we make sure you feel at home enough to push your boundaries.
New opportunities arise when you get moving. Stay sharp. Keep taking new steps. We encourage you to take the plunge and really go for it.
Discover something new. Build on your strengths. And choose your own path. We help you grow with training courses and learning formats that genuinely suit you.
We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

Learnit reviews
The course is for anyone who wants more control over their body during tense moments. Think of presentations, job interviews, performances, difficult conversations or other situations in which you notice that physical tension is getting in your way.
You do not need any specific prior knowledge. An open attitude and a willingness to work with your body, your voice and your breathing are enough to take part fully.
You learn where physical tension responses come from, how to recognise your body's signals and how to manage them. With breathing, voice and visualisation exercises you build up a personal toolkit for tense moments.
Yes, afterwards you will receive a Learnit certificate of participation. This shows that you have taken the course and worked on your body awareness and tension regulation.
The course is offered at a Learnit location and, in some cases, online as well. At the top right of the course page you can see which delivery formats and dates are currently available.
Yes, you can also take this course in-company with your team or department. We then tailor the content and examples to the situations in which you experience tension. Request a quote for a bespoke proposal.
Under tension, your body automatically goes into a fight, flight or freeze response. Adrenaline and cortisol are released, your heart rate rises and your breathing speeds up. That is useful in the face of real danger, but disruptive during a presentation. Awareness is the first step towards managing that response.
Yes. By deliberately breathing more slowly and deeply, especially with a longer out-breath, you signal to your nervous system that there is no danger. Your heart rate drops and your mind becomes calmer. With a few simple exercises you can feel this within a minute.
Talking to yourself rationally works as long as your head is still in charge. As soon as your body goes into a stress response, words often no longer help. Body-oriented techniques such as breathing, voice and posture act directly on your nervous system and work precisely at those moments.
The exercises help you to deal better with the physical side of stage fright: trembling hands, a dry mouth, an unsteady voice. By practising regularly, you experience that you can stay in control. That builds confidence and gradually makes presenting easier.
Many participants notice an immediate effect during the course itself, for example during a breathing or voice exercise. For lasting results, it helps to practise the techniques briefly every day for a few weeks, so that your body picks them up automatically in moments of stress.
