Not every employee calls for the same approach. On this in-depth day on situational leadership you sharpen your insight and practise switching consciously between styles. You are given concrete tools you can apply straight away in your day-to-day practice.
In this classroom-based advanced course you will work on situational leadership. You will learn to consciously adapt your approach to the employee, the task and the context that calls for your style at that moment.
You explore the four leadership styles of instructing, coaching, supporting and delegating, and you practise recognising development levels within your team. You gain insight into your own preferred style and the pitfalls that come with it. You also work on communicating clearly about expectations and responsibility, so that you can switch smoothly without causing confusion.
The course is practical and interactive in design. Short explanations alternate with exercises, reflection and discussion of situations from your own working practice. This way you learn by doing and by experimenting with different approaches.
After this advanced day you will more quickly recognise what an employee needs and consciously adapt your style accordingly. You will switch more easily between instructing, coaching, supporting and delegating. You will hold more focused conversations, make expectations clear and steer towards ownership without taking over tasks. You will have concrete tools to apply situational leadership directly in your day-to-day practice.
This advanced day is intended for managers who already have the fundamentals in place or possess comparable basic knowledge. You want to sharpen your leadership style further and align it better with what your employees need at that moment. Think of team leaders, managers and project leaders who work with employees at different levels of experience and who want to switch more consciously between directing, coaching, supporting and delegating.
This in-depth day is practice-oriented and interactive. You alternate short explanations with exercises, reflection and discussion of your own situations. You learn by doing, observing and experimenting with different approaches.
You already have experience of leadership, for example through the Leadership: the Foundation course or through your day-to-day practice. No further prior knowledge is required. Your own situations and questions are the starting point during this advanced day.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
When would you like to start?
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. You can also choose the training format that suits you best: a classroom course, a tailor-made course at your own office, an online course or an e-learning. We have the right course and the right format for everyone. Because learning in the way that suits you best delivers the best results.
Personal attention and a pleasant atmosphere. Whether you take a course with us, at your office or on your own PC, we make sure you feel at home enough to push your boundaries.
New opportunities arise when you get moving. Stay sharp. Keep taking new steps. We encourage you to take the plunge and really go for it.
Discover something new. Build on your strengths. And choose your own path. We help you grow with training courses and learning formats that genuinely suit you.
We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

G. Stoopendaal, Gemeente Cromstrijen - Leading change and reorganisations
“Well tailored to my own situation thanks to the small group; general models gave good insight into my own strengths and points for improvement. The level was good. I am very satisfied with the course. Much of it was already (partly) familiar to me, but even so it was excellent to think it through in the light of the current situation and to take a moment to reflect on it.”
A. Putman, Radboud University - Leadership: discover and develop your leadership style
“Good course, certainly worthwhile.”
A. Jonker - BAM groep - Coaching leadership
“During this course, theory and practical examples alternated nicely! The theory discussed reinforced my conviction as to why you can act in a particular way in certain situations. I thought the trainer came across as very professional. You can tell she really knows what she is talking about and that she was very good at responding to what we needed at that moment. Sometimes, for example, we discussed a particular situation that had occurred at work: she would then immediately come up with practical tools we could use next time we found ourselves in such a situation. She was also good at connecting the theory to practice. The practical examples made the theory much clearer to me.”
A. van Elten, P-services HR Group - Coaching Leadership
“The learning objectives differ from person to person and from situation to situation. The trainer anticipated this very well. We had an enjoyable course with good results. A very knowledgeable trainer.”

“I found the Leading Change and Reorganisations course instructive. The trainer phoned every participant before the course and asked which topics were important to them. She shaped the course around these topics, among other things. This made the course more targeted. In addition, there were four of us in total, so our learning objectives were covered intensively. Definitely a good course!”

T. de Jong, Gevangenenzorg Nederland - Managing volunteers
"Managing volunteers is an interesting course in which 'volunteers' as a concept does not necessarily come up. That doesn't matter, because the skills learned are far more broadly applicable than just to volunteers. The course is mainly about communication and interaction with people. The course provided a great deal of insight into holding good conversations, giving feedback and not avoiding difficult conversations."
- Managing Volunteers
“A very good course that, thanks to its personal approach, ties in very well with personal learning objectives. I really enjoyed sparring with fellow participants about everyone's learning objectives in this way. I found giving and receiving feedback from the fellow participants and the trainer very positive. In short, a course that is genuinely of added value to me!”

I found the trainer professional and pleasant to deal with.”
C. Fernandez, Science Center Nemo - Managing people: discover and develop your leadership style
“The course gives you the right practical tools that you can apply in your own working environment. There is a lot of personal attention. The course makes it particularly clear how you come across as a manager and where your points for improvement lie.”
A. Uyterlinde, Hotel Mijdrecht Marickenland - Leadership: discover and develop your leadership style

M. de Koning, Instituut voor Natuureducatie en Duurzaamheid (IVN)- Managing Volunteers
“The content was very good and met my expectations. The level of professionalism was high and the trainer also adapted the course to our wishes. The pace of the lessons, breaks and so on were decided in consultation with the participants. The trainer is very experienced and has an excellent command of the material. She tailored the programme entirely to where we were. For every topic we wanted to cover, she had the theory ready straight away. She had us practise a great deal, which is very good. That is how you learn!”

“Because the trainer had asked about my wishes by telephone before the course, the content matched my work situation well and I was able to make the most of it. I found the trainer very knowledgeable and flexible in putting the programme together: she could respond to stumbling blocks immediately. There was enough variety, the pace and level were good, and the role plays, sometimes filmed, were not my favourite parts, but they were very useful. They are what you learn the most from after all.”
