Description

You work at your own level under the guidance of an experienced trainer and receive a course book with exercises that you can use afterwards as a reference work.

Topics

During this accelerated two-day training course you encounter the most commonly used techniques and operations in Photoshop. In a short time you learn the right workflow, handy tips and tricks and the essential possibilities of the programme.

  • Correcting and enhancing digital photos
  • Working with selections
  • Working with layers
  • Using masks
  • Working with text

Result

After this accelerated course you will be able to work independently in Photoshop CC. You correct and retouch digital photos, work with selections, layers and masks, and add text to your designs. You create advanced compositions and deliver your work in the right format for print or web. You will also know the handiest tips and tricks for working efficiently and how to build a logical workflow for your own projects.

Target audience

This course is intended for anyone with little or no experience of Photoshop who wants to master the basics quickly. Think of photographers, marketers, trainee designers or staff who regularly edit images for print or web. General computer skills are enough to take part.

Teaching method

You follow this training course in the Open Learning format. This means that you work in a small group on your own learning objectives, at your own pace. You receive personal guidance from an experienced trainer who answers your questions on the spot.

You work at the computer with practical exercises from the course book, applying each technique yourself straight away. The content and level of detail are tailored to your work and wishes, so you learn exactly what you need.

Prior knowledge

No prior knowledge of Photoshop is required. Basic computer experience is enough to keep up. Do you work on a Mac? No problem, the course is perfectly suitable for Mac users too.

Comments

This accelerated two-day training course is a compact version of the three-day Photoshop CC Basics course. You work in the Open Learning format, so you can get to grips with the topics that matter to you at your own pace. The course is suitable for both PC and Mac users.

Course format

This training is offered on the basis of our Open Learning teaching method. This means that you work independently, with active guidance from our trainer, to master the material. That way you can achieve your learning objectives at your own pace, without being held back by fellow participants working faster or slower. The trainer makes sure that you stay on schedule and meet your learning objectives. This form of learning leaves room for a tailored approach. You have the opportunity to bring in examples from your own practice and IT environment, so that your learning is even more specific. more...

Language

The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.

Frequently asked questions

The Photoshop CC Basics Accelerated course takes two days and is an accelerated version of the three-day Photoshop CC Basics course. In two days you learn the most commonly used techniques: working with selections, layers, masks and text, and correcting photos. Thanks to the open learning format, you set your own pace and decide how deeply to cover each topic, in line with your learning objectives.

The course is intended for anyone with little or no experience in Photoshop who wants to master the basics quickly. Think of aspiring photographers, marketers, content creators, entrepreneurs and those with an interest in graphic work who want to edit photos for print or web. No prior knowledge of Photoshop is required. Basic computer skills are enough to keep up comfortably.

During the Photoshop CC Basics Accelerated course you learn the most commonly used techniques and operations. You work with the Photoshop workspace, digital photo correction, selections, layers and masks. Text, advanced compositions and preparing images for print or web are also covered. In addition, you receive practical tips and tricks for an efficient workflow.

The accelerated version takes two days, the regular Basics course three days. In the accelerated version you get a carefully chosen selection of the techniques and operations most used in practice. You learn the same core topics, only at a higher pace and with a sharper focus on what you really need. Suitable if you want to be productive with Photoshop quickly.

No, no prior knowledge of Photoshop is required for the Photoshop CC Basics Accelerated course. The course is intended for people with little or no experience of the programme. It is useful, however, if you can work comfortably with a computer and are familiar with the basics of Windows or macOS. An affinity with image editing or graphic work is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Yes, the course is suitable for both PC and Mac users. Lessons are taught on PCs, but the techniques and keyboard shortcuts covered are virtually identical on an Apple system. At the start you will receive a clear course book with exercises and practice files, which you can continue to use as a reference work on your own computer after the course.

A classroom course works better than self-study if you want to build a working foundation quickly and need direct feedback on your own actions. In Photoshop CC Basics Accelerated you work in an open learning format under the guidance of an experienced trainer, who observes your workflow, corrects mistakes straight away and adapts explanations to your pace. YouTube and online courses are separate fragments without coherence; you miss the right order of layers, selections and masks. A classroom day delivers a continuous working method in two days. Choose self-study if you only want to look up individual functions. Choose this course if you want to work with Photoshop structurally for print or web and do not want to lose time figuring things out.

The difference lies in the Open Learning format and immediate feedback. You work at your own pace on practice files, but an experienced trainer looks over your shoulder and corrects your workflow on the spot. That is exactly where tutorials fall short: you learn what a tool does, but not whether your approach is efficient. During the Photoshop CC Basics Accelerated course you decide together with the trainer which topics are covered in more depth, based on your learning objectives. Think of retouching, working with layers and masks, or preparing images for print or web. You go home with a reference book and practice files that you can use again later. With self-study you miss that personal fine-tuning and the benchmark of whether you are actually doing it right.

Adobe itself offers extensive free tutorials and a help centre, so it is a fair question. The difference lies in structure and feedback. In the open learning format you spend a day working through a pre-selected set of the most commonly used techniques: the workspace, selections, layers, masks, text and compositions. A trainer is on hand to answer questions immediately and to adapt exercises to your level. Adobe tutorials are built up separately from one another and rarely address a logical workflow for print or web. Choose this course if you want a workable foundation in a short time without having to work out the right order yourself. Choose Adobe tutorials if you want to look up a specific function or are under no time pressure. You take home a book with practice files as a reference work.

After the two-day Photoshop CC Basics Accelerated course you can get straight to work on standard edits: cropping photos, correcting colour and exposure, removing backgrounds using selections and masks, adding text and exporting images in the right format for web or print. For simple social media posts and website images, that is more than enough. More complex compositions, advanced retouching or professional product photography require more practice. Expect to spend a few weeks applying what you have learnt to your own material. The accompanying book with exercises and practice files serves as a reference work along the way. Anyone who keeps working in Photoshop regularly will build up routine. Anyone who uses it only occasionally will keep reaching for the reference work. For a deeper look at specific techniques, the three-day Photoshop CC Basics course is a logical next step.

The Open Learning format means you work in a small group on your own learning objectives and at your own pace, with an experienced trainer who provides personal guidance. You decide for yourself which topics receive more attention and which you work through more quickly. In a standard classroom course, the whole group follows the same pace and the same level of depth, regardless of prior knowledge or objective. That works fine if everyone starts at the same level, but less so if you mainly want to work on retouching and the person next to you on web design. The Open Learning format is therefore suitable if you want to focus on learning what you actually use in practice. You work with a book, exercise files and direct help from the trainer as soon as you get stuck.

The course covers the basics that are relevant to both directions. You will learn to correct and improve digital photos, work with selections, layers and masks, and create advanced compositions. This means that both retouching (skin, exposure, colour, removing unwanted elements) and design work (image manipulation, compositions, adding text) are covered. Thanks to the Open Learning format, you can place more emphasis, together with the trainer, on the type of work you do. If you mainly work with portrait or product photos, you can go deeper into retouching techniques. If you create visuals for web or print, you can spend more time on compositions and exporting. For purely graphic design with vector illustrations, Illustrator is a more logical next step.
