As a Scrum Master you are the linchpin of the Scrum team. In this two-day course you work through Scrum games and a real Scrum project on the skills you need: guiding the team, removing obstacles and getting the organisation on board with working in an Agile way.
In this two-day course you take a closer look at the role of Scrum Master within the Scrum method. Scrum is an Agile approach to project management in which communication, collaboration and short iterations are central. You first receive a general introduction to Scrum, after which the focus shifts entirely to the tasks and responsibilities of the Scrum Master.
You learn how to guide a Scrum team, remove obstacles and safeguard the process. You will also discover how to work with the Product Owner, how to facilitate the various Scrum events and how to get colleagues and other departments on board with the Scrum way of working.
The course is taught in the classroom by an experienced trainer and is set up as a real Scrum project. Through Scrum games you take in the material in an active and varied way, so that you gain practical experience straight away.
After this course you will understand the Scrum method and know exactly what the role of Scrum Master involves. You will be able to guide a Scrum team, lead a Sprint planning, daily stand-up, Sprint review and Sprint retrospective, and you will know how to remove obstacles for the team.
You work smoothly with the Product Owner, are able to use the product and Sprint backlog and keep a clear view of the project's progress. You are also able to get colleagues and other departments within your organisation enthusiastic about Agile and Scrum.
You will have enough grounding to prepare further, if you wish, for the official EXIN Scrum Master exam, which you can sit online at home under the supervision of a proctor.
Do you work as a team leader, project manager or senior team member and are you about to take on the role of Scrum Master? Then this course is for you. You are also very welcome if you are already working as a Scrum Master and want to deepen your knowledge. In addition, the course is suitable for anyone who wants to find out exactly what the Scrum Master role involves and how it helps a team move forward.
The course lasts two days and is taught in a classroom setting by an experienced trainer. During the course you work in the form of a Scrum project, so you gain hands-on experience straight away. You master a large part of the material through Scrum games: games that explain and clarify specific elements of Scrum. This makes the course instructive as well as varied and enjoyable to follow.
Because we work in small groups, there is plenty of room for questions, discussion and personal guidance. The content is tailored to the wishes and experience of the participants, so that you learn to apply the Scrum Master role to situations you encounter in practice.
You do not need any specific prior knowledge to take part. Some experience with projects or teamwork is useful, but certainly not a requirement. Are you interested in Agile and Scrum and would you like to learn more about it? Then this course is suitable for you.
This is a bespoke course: we tailor the content to the participants' requirements. Would you like to sit the online EXIN Scrum Master exam afterwards? If so, please indicate this in the comments field when you register.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
When would you like to start?

Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

Agile Scrum: the Scrum Master course reviews - Average rating 8.7 from 1 review
“Excellent course. A good mix of theoretical explanation and practical exercises. Plenty of interaction. Thanks to the Scrum set-up, participants are fully involved in the course.”
Emile Hajema, Learnit B.V.- Agile Scrum: the Scrum Master
“In a very short time, this webinar gives a good impression of what SCRUM can mean for client and supplier. It shows various ways of responding more quickly and more effectively (AGILE) to the client's needs. Decision points in projects are clearly indicated as (small) milestones.”
M. Scholten, Randstand Zevenaar - Free Scrum webinar
"Good course and trainer. The Scrum basics course is recommended for anyone who wants to understand this technique and be able to apply it. The right balance of theory and practice, with useful tips including do's and don'ts. Wouter is a trainer with practical experience, who delivers his courses interactively with a great deal of enthusiasm and energy. He responds perfectly to the group's wishes and in that way turns it into a compelling and inspiring course."
D. Kooi - Agile Scrum Basics
“The Scrum Basics course gives a good picture of the theory behind the method and immediately makes it possible to learn to apply it in your own practice.”
Alwin Wullink, Saxion - Agile Scrum Basics
"Wouter is very quick at moving from theory to practice and in doing so gives insight into the Scrum process."
- Agile Scrum Basics
“The objectives I set beforehand were achieved. Thanks to an experienced trainer and plenty of theory and practical assignments, I gained enough basic knowledge of Scrum to apply it in practice. The course venue was located close to the central station and therefore easy to reach.”
Roy Hofman, Koppert Biological systems- Agile Scrum Basics
“Instructive, useful and practically applicable.”
A. Krijgsman - Agile Scrum Basics
"I learned a great deal in this very varied course, particularly the fact that you have to look at delivering an end product in a different way. And the techniques involved in that too. Because we were in a small group, there was plenty of room to ask questions and share experiences. I do think you only really master Scrum by actually getting to work with it. The organisation has to be ready for it as well."
- Agile Scrum Basics
“Being able to discuss the theory for our specific situation; very useful!”
Marcel Raap, FMO- Agile Scrum Basics

W. Lippens, Funding Applicatieontwikkeling B.V.- Agile Scrum Basics
"I was very pleased with the online one-to-one course itself. I hesitated to accept it as an alternative to classroom training because it is shorter, but in the end I think I got more out of it this way."
- Agile scrum: the Product Owner
“In a relatively short time, the course provides insight into the theory and its practical application. The book supplied by the trainer is a good way to go back over everything at your leisure.”
M. Kerklaan, Rabobank - Agile Scrum Basics
“If you have covered the theory of the Product Owner, but you still run into things in practice that you would like to put to a group and a trainer, then this is a perfect course.”
Lolita van der Linden, Everest- Agile Scrum: the Product Owner
“The Scrum Basics course gives you an accessible introduction to the world of agile and scrum. Because you are in a small group, the attention is personal and you can take in the material in the way that best suits your own working situation.”
Jochem van Abel, Havenbedrijf Rotterdam N.V.- Agile Scrum Basics
“A good course for mastering the basics of Scrum. It has a mix of practice and theory, so that you can apply the theory properly. Actually working with Scrum will take longer to master fully, but this course gives you enough to take it further on your own.”
