Stress is part of life, but when it starts to affect you it is time to take action. In this training course you work on peace of mind, healthy boundaries and a better work-life balance.

Description

You probably know the feeling. Everything comes at you at once, you sleep badly, you worry and your fuse gets shorter and shorter. At such a moment it is important that you intervene, before the stress takes over and you head towards burnout.

Perhaps you see it around you as well. Colleagues who struggle with the workload, more absenteeism, more mistakes and less resilience. Each of these is a sign that resilience is declining. With this course you learn to handle stress yourself and to recognise the signals in others.

Managing Stress: work/life balance is part of Learnit's Anti-stress Package. You learn to recognise and acknowledge stress and are given concrete ways to keep your stress levels under control, even with a busy job, social commitments and a family.

Topics

  • Recognising stress: signals in the body, in behaviour and in thoughts
  • Focus and calm: dealing with worrying thoughts and learning to let go
  • Time management and setting priorities
  • A healthy lifestyle: nutrition, exercise and moments of rest
  • Insight into your own coping mechanisms and beliefs
  • Setting boundaries, saying no, delegating and asking for help
  • Dealing with emotions such as fear, anger and frustration
  • Body awareness: how stress works physically and how you let it go
  • Drivers, values and meaning
  • Balance between work and private life

Result

After this course you will recognise your own stress signals in time and know how to respond to them appropriately. You will have practical tools to focus your thoughts, set healthy boundaries and distribute your energy better between work and private life. You will have more peace of mind, more enjoyment in your work and more control over your day.

Target audience

This course is suitable for anyone who suffers from stress, feels that too much is coming their way, finds it difficult to set boundaries or say no, or struggles to relax. Whether you work in a busy office job, manage a team or combine informal care with work and family: if you want more balance and calm, you are in the right place.

Teaching method

You work in a small group with an experienced and empathetic trainer. The course is practical and interactive: you alternate theory with exercises, reflection and conversations with other participants. In between, you apply what you have learnt in your own work and personal situation, so that on day two you can build on your experiences.

Prior knowledge

No prior knowledge is required. We do ask for a degree of self-awareness and a willingness to look at yourself and take steps.

In-company

Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.

Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.

Healthy stress gives you energy, focus and sharpness at moments when you have to perform. Afterwards you can relax again. Stress becomes unhealthy when the tension lingers, you no longer come to rest and your body and mind are not given time to recover. This often shows itself in sleeping problems, irritability, fatigue and loss of concentration.

Common signals are poor sleep, persistent worrying, a shorter fuse, fatigue, headaches, a tense body, difficulty concentrating and the feeling that everything is too much. If you experience this for a longer period, it is wise to act before the complaints get worse.

You prevent burnout by recognising signs of stress early and taking them seriously. Sufficient rest and recovery, healthy boundaries, exercise, an appropriate workload and support from the people around you are all important. Insight into your own beliefs and patterns helps you to change sustainably, rather than merely treating symptoms.

Worrying decreases when you learn to observe your thoughts instead of going along with them. You can train this with attention exercises, writing, exercise and set moments of rest. It also helps to structure your day consciously, so that your mind knows when there is room for work and when for relaxation.

A healthy balance starts with knowing what really matters to you. Based on those values, you make choices about how you divide your time and energy. Practical building blocks are clear boundaries between work and free time, enough sleep, exercise, social contact and moments of deliberate rest. Small, consistent changes often work better than large interventions all at once.
