Conflicts provoke resistance, but they also offer opportunities. The Conflict Management course gives you insight into how conflicts arise and how to de-escalate them. You practise conversation techniques and discover your own role, so that you act more confidently and with greater empathy.
Conflicts often bring up negative feelings, but they also offer opportunities. Those who understand the background of a conflict and know how to act sensibly can turn a disagreement into a better outcome for both parties.
In this Conflict Management course you gain insight into how conflicts arise, escalate and can be de-escalated again. You learn to analyse conflicts, recognise starting points for resolution and examine what role you yourself take in difficult situations. You also work on conversation techniques that allow you to communicate more effectively, even when emotions or resistance play a part.
You practise extensively with real-life situations, so that you experience for yourself the effect of a different attitude and approach. In this way you develop an approach that suits you and feel more confident in conflict situations.
The following topics, among others, are covered during the course:
After this course you understand how conflicts arise and why they can escalate. You know how to de-escalate a conflict and give it a positive turn. You are aware of your own attitude and way of communicating in difficult situations, and you can deal with resistance and emotions. As a result, you act more decisively, more convincingly and more empathetically when things get tense.
This course is eminently suitable for anyone who (regularly) has to deal with conflict situations, or who tries to avoid them as much as possible. Do you recognise yourself in one or more of the points below?
You want to gain a better understanding of the background of conflicts, you want to deal better with interests and emotions during a conflict, you usually avoid conflicts as much as possible but no longer want to shy away from them, you want to stand your ground more firmly during difficult conversations.
This list is of course not exhaustive, because everyone is different. What do you want to focus on within the theme of conflict management?
You start with an intake meeting in which the trainer maps out your personal learning objectives. The final programme is determined on that basis, so that the course really matches your situation.
During the course days you work in a small group of no more than eight participants. That small setting creates a safe atmosphere in which you can calmly experiment with new behaviour and new conversation techniques.
We believe in doing and experiencing. You therefore practise extensively with practical cases, role plays and short reflection exercises. Your own examples from work or private life are more than welcome; they are precisely what makes what you have learned immediately applicable.
The trainer gives personal feedback and alternates short pieces of theory with active working methods. This way you build the confidence to tackle conflicts constructively, step by step.
No specific prior knowledge is required for this course. It is useful, though, if you occasionally deal with conflict situations, at work or in your private life. Are you open to looking at your own role and willing to try out new behaviour? Then this is the right course for you.
Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.
Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.
The training is given in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of English. English-language course material can be used. With a minimum enrolment of 3 participants, the training can also be given entirely in English.
When would you like to start?
At Learnit you will always find a course that takes you further. From (technical) IT skills to communication or personal leadership. You can also choose the training format that suits you best: a classroom course, a tailor-made course at your own office, an online course or an e-learning. We have the right course and the right format for everyone. Because learning in the way that suits you best delivers the best results.
Personal attention and a pleasant atmosphere. Whether you take a course with us, at your office or on your own PC, we make sure you feel at home enough to push your boundaries.
New opportunities arise when you get moving. Stay sharp. Keep taking new steps. We encourage you to take the plunge and really go for it.
Discover something new. Build on your strengths. And choose your own path. We help you grow with training courses and learning formats that genuinely suit you.
We always think in terms of possibilities and win-win. And every day we work on new solutions for tomorrow. By offering training courses that leave you well prepared for the future.
We don't make empty promises. What we do offer is quality, knowledge and experience. A broad range of courses, made possible by our inspired staff and trainers.
We listen to what matters to you. To what you need. Because that is where our solution, our tailored approach, begins. Understanding each other properly and communicating clearly: that is what we believe in.
Taking a training course at Learnit means learning together. Together with your experienced trainer, together with your course group or together with your colleagues. And whether you take the training at home, at your office or at one of our training locations, we are always available to help you. To share our knowledge with you in a way that is genuinely useful to you. Getting further together through personal attention and understanding each other well; that is what we believe in.
Learning theory from a book that you can then hardly use in your work? Not at Learnit! Whichever training you take with us, you can put it to use at your workplace straight away. Because of the unique learning objectives you set together with the trainer at the start of the training. Because of the alternation between theory and (interactive) practical assignments. And by bringing the challenges you face in your daily work along to the training.
No suitable start date? Send us a date request. Then we will look together at how we can still meet your training needs.

“Learnit is an enjoyable organisation with a wide variety of courses. They have pleasant, positive and enthusiastic trainers. Not a standard course with a presentation, but plenty of room for your own input, which the trainers respond to well. That is stimulating and keeps you alert.”

“The content was completely tailored to our needs and to the examples we put forward. There was a clear structure setting out how the days would run and we were able to cover everything. All the necessary time and attention was given to that, which was very positive. The course material was very good. We received a course folder and a book on conflict management. We were able to discuss a lot of cases: I found it a varied programme and very instructive.”

“The trainer listened carefully to our personal objectives and adapted the content of the lessons to each participant. The trainer was clear, was able to make the material easy to grasp and, in her professionalism, also dared to use personal examples. She created a safe environment and an atmosphere in which the participants could work together well. I experienced clear communication from Learnit. It was pleasant that there was contact by telephone beforehand. The materials were well put together.”
M. Simons, Politie Zwolle-Oost - Conflict Management
“It was a small group, but that was exactly right! It meant there was plenty of individual attention for participants' questions. The trainer was knowledgeable and related everything to practice. The course material (theory) was used as support (I went through most of it at home myself), which suited me fine. The trainer went into the questions in depth using clear examples and worked-out solutions.”
N. Houben, Volvo Cars - Conflict Management
