NLP gives you insight into the patterns behind communication and behaviour. This introduction offers practical tools to communicate more effectively, clarify your goals and get the best out of yourself. A valuable step in your personal development.

Description

In this introductory course in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) you become acquainted with a personal development method that helps you make better use of your abilities. NLP assumes that the successful behaviour of others can be understood and learned. The method focuses on the patterns behind human communication and behaviour, and offers tools to change those patterns or learn new ones.

You gain insight into your own model of the world and examine how your view of the world influences your behaviour and communication. You work on building rapport, enabling you to communicate more effectively and build stronger relationships with the people around you. You also work on formulating and achieving goals and explore techniques such as anchoring, learning how your brain responds to signals and how you can steer that.

The course alternates between experiencing, experimenting, reflecting and exploring theory. You get actively involved, so that you immediately notice the effect of new behaviour and can translate it to your own practice.

Topics

  • Insight into your own model of the world: how do you look at the world and what does that mean for you and those around you?
  • Communicating according to NLP: how do you increase the impact of your communication?
  • Building rapport: you build stronger relationships with the people around you.
  • Setting and achieving goals: what is needed for you to actually achieve your goals?
  • Anchoring: how does your brain respond to signals and how do you adjust that?
  • Out-of-the-box thinking: a fresh view of reality and of what you consider possible.
  • Regulating emotions: more calm in your head and less worrying.

Result

After this introductory course you will understand the basic principles of NLP and be able to apply the basic techniques in your everyday communication. You will have insight into your own model of the world and recognise how it influences your behaviour and interactions.

You know how to build rapport with the people around you and can tailor your communication to the person you are speaking with. You are also able to formulate clear, achievable goals and determine which steps are needed to reach them. You have practised anchoring and know how to call up desired feelings and behaviours at the moment you need them.

With this in hand you stand more firmly on your feet, communicate more effectively and have practical tools to develop yourself further, both personally and at work.

Target audience

This introductory course is intended for anyone who is interested in NLP and wants to develop further in the areas of communication, behaviour and personal growth. Whether you work in education, business, healthcare or coaching: you will gain practical tools that you can put to use straight away.

Teaching method

During the course we alternate between concrete experience, experimenting with behaviour and techniques, reflecting and exploring theory. This makes the programme suitable for all types of participants. There is plenty of action in the course, so that you genuinely experience the effect of new behaviour. This makes it possible to recognise success. We also emphasise that everyone is responsible for their own development and must take ownership of it. In our course we invite you to reflect continuously and make connections with your own practice. Our aim is to increase your insight and let you make the translation to your own situation. This increases the chance of real behavioural change.

Prior knowledge

No prior knowledge is required for this course, so there is nothing you need to prepare. It does help if you are open to self-reflection and willing to experiment with new behaviour. A curious attitude is all you need to bring.

In-company

Would you like to organise this training for a whole group or several groups? This can be cost-effective. For example, we can tailor the content entirely to your organisation, and training a whole group is also cheaper.

Are you looking at large numbers of participants or a complete academy? That involves a great deal. Consider planning and communication, for example, or identifying and agreeing the objectives and content of the training. Or differences in level, feedback mechanisms and safeguarding. Fortunately, Learnit has extensive experience in this field (more than 25 years) and we are happy to help you through this process.

  • “Until the course, NLP was more or less gibberish to me. What I could actually do with it was not clear. Learnit's course gave me a clear picture of what I could do with the subject. Not only in my profession as a communications adviser, but above all in working out my vision of the future. With NLP, listening to your feelings takes on a concrete meaning!”

Frequently asked questions

NLP is a personal development method that helps you recognise and adjust patterns in communication and behaviour. In this classroom introductory course from Learnit you learn to build rapport, formulate goals clearly, apply anchoring and gain insight into your own model of the world. No prior knowledge required.

No, no prior knowledge is required for the NLP introduction course. The course is an accessible introduction for anyone interested in Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Whether you work in coaching, education or business, or want to use NLP for your personal development: you can join without any prior training. The classroom course is also set up in such a way that you can get actively involved from day one.

During the NLP introductory course you cover five core topics: insight into your own model of the world, communicating according to NLP, building rapport, setting and achieving goals, and anchoring. You learn how your brain responds to signals and how to communicate more effectively with yourself and others. The course alternates theory with practical exercises, so that you experience directly what new behaviour delivers.

The NLP introduction course is taught in a classroom setting, spread over. You take the course in a small group, which leaves room for personal guidance and exercises in which you directly experience techniques such as building rapport and anchoring. The classroom set-up fits the interactive working method well, alternating between theory, reflection and practical experimentation with behaviour.

NLP is applied worldwide in coaching, education, business and various forms of therapy. During the introductory course you learn techniques such as building rapport, anchoring and formulating goals. The results are concrete: greater self-confidence, more effective communication, better emotional management, less worrying and more creative thinking. You practise with behaviour and techniques straight away, so that you can immediately translate what you have learned to your working and private life.

An NLP introductory course and an NLP Practitioner programme differ in depth, duration and purpose. Learnit's introductory course You become acquainted with the core principles of NLP: your own model of the world, building rapport, formulating goals, communication patterns and anchoring. You experience the method and can apply basic techniques directly in your communication and personal development. An NLP Practitioner programme usually takes 12 to 20 days, spread over several months, and leads to an internationally recognised certificate with which you can use NLP professionally, for example in coaching. Choose the introduction if you want to explore whether NLP suits you, or if you want to learn the techniques for your own use. A Practitioner programme makes more sense if you want to apply NLP professionally.

NLP suits you if you like learning by doing: experiencing, experimenting with behaviour, reflecting and only then linking it to theory. In the introduction at Learnit (classroom), you move continually between exercise and analysis. If you prefer a purely cognitive approach with models and case studies, a classic communication or conversation techniques course will suit you better. What sets NLP apart is that it works with inner patterns, building rapport and anchoring. Techniques you apply directly to yourself. Torn between NLP and coaching? Coaching focuses on one specific goal with guidance; NLP gives you tools you will keep using independently. If you want a taste before considering a Practitioner programme, this introduction is the logical step.

A fair question. NLP is not a scientifically validated therapy and is viewed critically by academic psychologists; effect studies produce mixed results. What NLP does offer are practical communication and behavioural techniques that are widely applied in coaching, sales and management. The introductory course at Learnit focuses on concrete practice in building rapport, formulating goals and becoming aware of your own thinking patterns. Not on therapeutic claims. You learn techniques such as anchoring and exploring your 'model of the world'. If you are expecting a scientifically substantiated method such as cognitive behavioural therapy or evidence-based coaching, NLP is less suitable. If you see it as a toolbox of communication techniques that you critically test in practice yourself, you can get value out of it.

No. The NLP introduction of (classroom-based) is an introduction, not a coaching qualification. You learn the basic principles: building rapport, recognising your own model of the world, formulating goals precisely and anchoring. You can then apply those techniques to yourself and in your everyday communication with colleagues, clients or within your family. For coaching or guiding others professionally with NLP interventions, a Practitioner programme (usually 12 to 20 days) is the customary next step, followed by a Master Practitioner. International recognition runs via institutes such as NLPU, INLPTA or the Society of NLP. So choose this introduction if you want to explore whether NLP suits you before investing in a longer and more expensive programme.

NLP, mindfulness and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) have different starting points. NLP focuses on the patterns behind communication and behaviour, and on modelling successful strategies. You learn techniques such as building rapport, anchoring and formulating goals. Mindfulness, by contrast, trains you to notice and accept thoughts and feelings without wanting to change them. ACT combines acceptance with values-driven action. A coaching programme teaches you a professional guidance profession; this NLP introduction (classroom) is not a coaching programme, but gives you insight into your own model of the world and practical conversation techniques. Choose NLP if you want concrete tools for communication and behavioural change. If you mainly want to train calm and attention, mindfulness or ACT will suit you better.

A book or YouTube video explains NLP concepts, but in this classroom course you actually practise the techniques with other participants. That difference matters with NLP: building rapport, anchoring and recognising communication patterns are learnt by doing, not by reading. You receive direct feedback from the trainer and fellow participants on your behaviour, voice and body language. Self-study lacks that observation and correction. The course takes and, including course materials. For those who only want to get acquainted with the theory, a book will do; if you want to apply techniques such as anchoring or sensory acuity in your work, guided practice is more effective. The course is an introduction, not a Practitioner programme.
